In this role, you will be performing in a variety of clinical and administrative duties related to clinical management of practice and patient care. Provide safe, efficient, quality direct patient nursing care in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians. In addition, perform administrative duties including quality monitoring, clinical supply management, supporting established clinic workflows and staff education. Under the direct supervision of the designated clinical staff member, you will provide direct patient care for a diverse patient population, while maintaining high standards of care, and recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms of life threatening emergencies. Work in collaboration with the Ambulatory Nursing Team to ensure clinical standards are maintained. You will be required to travel to multiple work sites within UCLA Health.
Salary range: $38.65/hr - $80.70/hr
Required:
- Possess active license issued by the State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners with Intravenous Therapy and blood withdrawal certification.
- Possession of active CPR BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- 3+ years LVN experience.
- Ability to take vital signs, administer medications and obtain drug refills as needed.
- Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician.
- Knowledge of symptomatology of common and or life threatening medical problems.
- Interpersonal skills in maintaining a cooperative working environment with the physicians, staff, and all health providers.
- Performs phlebotomy, CPR, Injections, and other skills within scope of practice.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, Windows computer function, computer navigation, and ability to use computerized patient care systems.

Under the clinical and administrative direction of the UCLA ALS Program Medical Director, the Per Diem Respiratory Therapist provides specialized respiratory care and support within the multidisciplinary ALS Clinic. Vanderbilt Clarksville Hospital is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our collaborative inpatient rehabilitation team. This role is approximately 90% Acute Care and 10% Inpatient Rehabilitation, serving adult patients across a variety of hospital settings.
As an Occupational Therapist, you will help patients regain independence, improve function, and prepare for safe discharge through evidence-based, patient-centered care. You'll work closely with physicians, nurses, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and case managers to support optimal outcomes.

- Rehabilitation Therapist Patient Evaluation (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery in evaluating patients with physical deficits including impairments, developmental disabilities, functional limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function by obtaining information pertinent to the assessment and administering and scoring standardized tests and objective measures of deficit areas. Selects appropriate measures and performs a functional assessment to document patient's status requiring skilled therapy. Interprets the results of the assessment and their significance to the patient, family, referring physician and other members of the health care team. Demonstrates experience in clinical evaluation skills and may serve as a mentor for other clinical staff to develop their skills in evaluation techniques. Contributes to the development of best practices for the organization. May consult with team members to implement new procedures.
- Treatment Implementation (Intermediate): Demonstrates mastery in providing treatment consistent with physician prescription and established plan of care. Able to modify treatment plan as needed to demonstrate provision of skilled therapy services including progression of treatment throughout course of care, and revision of treatment interventions of goals not met. As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Administers various forms of respiratory modalities in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Respiratory Care Department.Major Responsibilities:
1. Monitors and supports patients on mechanical ventilation. Provides respiratory support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as required.
2. Assists physician/anesthesia during intubations. Assists physicians performing both diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopies and percutaneous dilatational tracheotomies at the bedside under bronchoscopic guidance.
3. Establishes treatment plans and modifies therapy according to department protocols for bronchodilator therapy and chest physical therapy techniques.
4. Obtains arterial blood gasses. Performs radial and brachial artery blood draws to obtain blood samples for gas analysis.
5. Sets up and monitors equipment for ventilatory support. May set up and monitor pulse oximetry equipment for continuous measurement of oxygen saturation. Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators during surgical procedures as required. May set up and monitor equipment for administering oxygen including various types of cannulas and masks.
6. Coordinates and maintains difficult airway carts, identifies and assesses potential high-risk airway patients, participates on code airway team.
7. May perform both resting and trending pulse oximetry.
8. Provides patient education and support on various respiratory topics, such as smoking cessation techniques, asthma and COPD management, and the use and administration of respiratory medications and modalities.

- Supervises the work of pharmacy supportive staff.

SUMMARY:
The Rehabilitation Aide reports directly to the Clinical Manager/Assistant Clinical Manager/ and performs duties under the supervision of the Rehabilitation professionals. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Principal Duties:
Once deemed competent, and in accordance with the established treatment plan, the rehabilitation aide:
- Assists therapists and assistants in patient care as requested
- Carries out patient intervention per therapist or assistant direction, including positioning, mobilizing, and exercising patient
The supervising Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech-Language Pathologist or Audiologist will be present on the premises and immediately available to the Rehabilitation Aide when providing treatment. A Physical Therapist Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant may also provide supervision, but must be on the premises, in line of sight, and immediately available.
Additional Duties:
- Maintains gym and all treatment areas to Environment of Care (EOC) standards.
- Assists with EOC safety rounds
- Enters work orders as applicable to gym and treatment areas
- Maintains cleanliness of department equipment per infection control policies and equipment guidelines
- Maintains equipment logs
- Ensures that rehabilitation equipment, including but not limited to: wheelchairs, walkers and crutches, are clean and functional
- Cleans and prepares treatment areas between patient use

- Transports patients to and from treatment areas, exercising care in the handling of patients

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
- Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively with patients and other members of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to assist with providing care to patients throughout Brown University Health, with consideration of the aging process, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
- Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

EXPERIENCE:
- High School graduate or GED required. Associate’s degree preferred.

- Physical ability to lift, position and transport patients. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, crouching, and kneeling.

- Moderate physical effort (lift and carry up to 25-35 lbs.).
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Performs independently within the department’s policies and practices. Refers specific problems to the supervisor and/or therapist when clarification of the departmental policies and procedures are required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
May direct volunteers/interns to assist with tasks related to environment of care.
