GENERAL SUMMARY:Performs physical therapy treatments and services as established by a licensed Physical Therapist according to the Iowa Practice Act for Physical Therapist Assistants. Follows standard procedures, with interpretation and application of these standards to problems of moderate complexity. Shares in supervision of Rehab and Ortho Technicians according to regulatory requirements. Provides on-going physical therapy treatment to infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and their families based on assignment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Under guidance of supervising licensed PT: Acquires pertinent information and implements comprehensive treatment using a variety of techniques; reviews and modifies treatment in response to changing patient needs.
- Provides treatments (including the application of topical medications used in treatment modalities and/or burn/wound care) to a diverse population in a variety of settings (based on assignment) and completes supporting documentation according to hospital policy and State Practice Act.
- Complies with department, hospital, and regulatory agency guidelines with respect to ethics, legal issues and supervisory relationships. Demonstrates professional accountability per the Physical Therapy Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
- Demonstrates appropriate and effective written, verbal and non-verbal communication with team members through the continuum of care.
- Protects patient confidentiality in regard to medical, emotional, and social status.
- Advocates for the profession through memberships, affiliations, continuing education, community service and legislative support.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: (may be essential based on assignment)
- Assists in inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment. Assists in preparation/maintenance of daily treatment schedule.
- Assists in maintenance of safe, clean work environment.
- Assists in program development and preparation to meet state and national accreditation and guidelines i.e., JCAHO, DIA.
- Assists therapist in discharge planning for patients; e.g., assessment of adaptive equipment needed, need for continued services, or referral to community resources.
- Observes, measures, and records the cardiovascular responses of heart rate, blood pressure, and PO2.
- Plans and presents educational programs for department, hospital, and/or community.

Position Purpose
Provides physical therapy services under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to patients across the age continuum. Assists the physical therapist within established guidelines to develop a rehabilitative plan of care with realistic goals, based on a functional evaluation or reassessment. Provides education to patients, family members, students, staff and to the community at large. Coordinates services with other medical disciplines, making recommendations as appropriate to facilitate a complete rehabilitative process. Participates in Performance Improvement and Risk Management.
As a Physical Therapy Assistant you will:
- Providing treatment and services within their license's scope, and as required by law and regulation.
- Accountable for the implementation of a written treatment plan and administers treatment for each patient according to the stated goals.
- Helps train patients and the patient's family in the use of medical equipment and make recommendations for appropriate equipment as necessary.
- Participates in planning for patient discharge by considering and communicating with patients, families, and community.
- Continuously assesses patient's status and effects of treatment when warranted. Reviews goals with patient and family as appropriate during plan of care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate from a physical therapist assistant training program accredited by American Physical Therapy Association.
- Required: Associate degree
- State of Marland Physical Therapist Assistant License or eligible to obtain licensure prior to hire date.
- American Heart Association BLS
Pay Range: 26.42/hour - 34.34/hour
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

Job Description:
Provides direct speech‑language pathology services to patients across the age spectrum, as appropriate. Evaluates patients, interprets assessments, establishes individualized plans of care, and implements appropriate treatment interventions within scope of practice to restore function, prevent disability, and promote maximum independence. May provide therapy services under direct access when permitted by applicable state licensure. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and caregivers to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
Major Responsibilities
- Age‑Appropriate Patient Care
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served across the lifespan. Applies principles of growth and development, interprets age‑specific clinical data, and delivers care in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, and job standards.
- Patient Evaluation and Care Planning
- Interprets medical records and provider referrals and evaluates patients with speech, language, voice, cognitive‑communication, and feeding/swallowing disorders. Develops individualized plans of care using evidence‑based interventions aligned with evaluation findings and functional goals. Recommends next levels of care, directs support staff as applicable, and ensures quality outcomes. Demonstrates knowledge of indications and contraindications for therapeutic interventions utilized.
- Treatment Implementation
- Implements therapeutic interventions to address communication, cognitive‑communication, and feeding/swallowing impairments. Adjusts treatment approaches based on patient performance and response while ensuring safe, effective care within defined scope of practice.
- Goal Setting and Outcome Monitoring
- Establishes functional goals in collaboration with patients and caregivers and monitors outcomes to enhance communication, cognitive‑communication, and feeding/swallowing abilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a thorough knowledge of nursing and healthcare as normally demonstrated through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Requires a current Registered Nurse (R.N.) license.
Experience typically gained through two years clinical research experience or experience related to clinical area in which research study is based. Previous relevant experience working in a clinical research setting. Knowledge of medical and clinical terminology. Excellent organizational and task management skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and study information. Where You Will Work:
Atrium Health Levine Cancer Outpatient Transplant and Cellular Therapy- This is an ambulatory infusion style pod with 15 chairs that is open 7 days a week from 0700-1900 to support the needs of transplant and cellular therapy patients. This team will help prepare patients for transplants by administering chemotherapy, administer cellular therapy products, and support patients during the acute phase after receiving the cellular therapy with IV medications, electrolyte replacement, blood products and other supportive care measures. This program is an extension of our already existing Transplant and Cellular Therapy program that was established 10 years ago and has completed more than 1200 transplants. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the original outpatient TCT team!
We’re Looking For:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Three years clinical experience with demonstrated clinical expertise and management abilities
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Oncology experience preferred.

The Vascular Access Nurse Specialist serves as the subject matter expert in appropriate peripheral access and peripherally inserted central line access. The Vascular Access Nurse Specialist assists in developing vascular access and IV therapy policies and protocols based on current national standards of practice. This position is responsible for the insertion of peripherally inserted central and peripheral access using ultrasound technology while maintaining current infection prevention practices related to vascular access. The Vascular Access Nurse Specialist is responsible for evaluating catheter appropriateness, monitoring infusion related outcomes and catheter necessity. The Vascular Access Nurse Specialist assists with educating clinical nurses, members of the healthcare team, patients and families as needed and serves as a resource both in-house and in the community for vascular access, care, and maintenance. The team member may also serve as educator and mentor/preceptor for various students and nurse residents.
Essential Functions:
• Conducts systematic and comprehensive assessments of patient’s vascular needs from encounter to discharge across the care continuum to ensure patient safety, collaborating with the healthcare team, patient and family. In collaboration with patient and family, identifies and prioritizes patient problems based on subjective and objective assessment data, patient safety considerations, patient and family goals and preferences, and nursing interventions and the plan of care.
• Independently administers vascular access procedures utilizing ultrasound per licensure authority, assesses and reassesses the patient and documents interventions in a timely manner per policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Consistently adheres to patient safety guidelines regarding all aspects of vascular access administration.
• In collaboration with patient and family, identifies and prioritizes patient problems based on subjective and objective assessment data, patient safety considerations, patient and family goals and preferences, and nursing interventions and the plan of care.
• Implements nursing care interventions to meet patient and family center health care needs. Demonstrates competent skills, appropriate clinical judgments, and chain of command to promote patient safety and reach planned care goals and outcomes.
• Evaluates care by performing regular and systematic reviews of patient /family responses to interventions; revises the interdisciplinary plan of care in collaboration with other care team members to promote desired outcomes. Recognizes care variances and takes steps to prevent or intervene with potential or real adverse events to promote safe care.

Job Duties:
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Performs patient check-in at the time of visit and completes all steps necessary to ensure the admitting process is efficient and in compliance with all clinic and regulatory policies.
- Answer phone calls and direct them appropriately.
- Schedule appointments according to office guidelines.
- Obtain accurate patient and insurance information, collecting copays (TOS) and deductible amounts.
- Copy/scan patient access related hardcopy materials (e.g. ID, referrals, insurance cards, etc.) into the correct location in the electronic medical record.
General Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population serve within three (3) months of hire.
- Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patient, visitors, and colleagues while performing their job duties.
- Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality when dealing with patient information.
- Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

Exceptions:
1. *Current LPNs employed within the Emory Healthcare (EHC) system who have completed an accredited RN program and obtain RN licensure are eligible to transition into this role while completing the RN Resident Program.
2. Emory LPNs enrolled in an Emory ADN program as of 3/30/2025 must sign an obligation agreement to complete an ADN-to-BSN program within two years of entering the RN Clinician role.
3. Emory Warner Robins, Perry and affiliated Physician Groups location RN Clinicians with an Associate's Degree in Nursing with less than 2 years experience as a new hire or transferring as of 3/29/2026, must sign an obligation agreement to complete an ADN-to-BSN program within two years of entering the RN Clinician role.
Licensure: A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
Certification:
1. BLS certification
2. ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire
