This one doesn't.
I'm Dr. Preston Hamrick, owner of Heritage Dentistry. My family has practiced dentistry in South Carolina since 1910. Four generations later, we're still independent. No DSO, no corporate production targets, and nobody pushing you to rush through the person in your chair.
I'm looking for one full-time hygienist who wants enough time, autonomy, and support to practice at the top of their license.
*What you get*
* A 3.5-day clinical week. The rest is yours.
* Guaranteed pay. You know what you're making, regardless of who cancels.
* Five weeks of paid time off. Take it. I'll ask questions if you don't.
* 401(k) match.
* Paid continuing education that is worth your time. I've invested more than 250 hours at the Kois Center. Around here, continuous learning isn't a benefit we list and forget. It's part of how we practice.
* Longer appointments and real autonomy. If a patient needs more time, take more time. Nobody is going to pull you aside afterward.
*What you'll get to do*
* Guided biofilm therapy that is better for patients and kinder to your hands, wrists, and shoulders.
* Salivary diagnostics and whole-body health conversations with a doctor who wants you having them.
* Periodontal therapy you genuinely own. You assess, treat, educate, and help patients understand what is happening.
*Here's the proof*
Our patients don't write reviews thanking "the hygienist." They use her name.
That happens when you have enough time to know your patients, do work you're proud of, and stay long enough to become part of their lives. If you've ever felt like the invisible half of the appointment, you'll notice the difference here quickly.
*This probably isn't for you if…*
You like to move fast and stay on the surface. Many of our patients avoided dentistry for years before finding us. Rebuilding their health, and sometimes their trust, requires patience, curiosity, and genuine human connection.
If that sounds tedious, we would probably make each other miserable. But if you became a hygienist to do more than clear a column, I'd like to meet you.
*To apply*
Send your resume along with honest answers to these two questions:
* What has to be true for you to do your best work?
* Tell me about a patient you were proud to care for. What made it meaningful?
I read every answer myself.
I can teach protocols. I can't teach curiosity.
Pay: $40.00 - $52.00 per hour
Benefits:
* 401(k) matching
* Paid time off
Work Location: In person

_Work in a school. Grow with a team built specifically for SLPs._
At Empat Speech, you get the connection of a school-based role with the added clinical support, tools, and professional community of an SLP-focused organization.
* *Led and supported by licensed SLPs* who understand the work and provide ongoing coaching and consultation
* *Access to proprietary technology built for SLPs, by SLPs*
* *A voice in shaping the tools you use* as an early adopter whose feedback helps influence future development
* *Dual support from your school community and Empat*, so you are not navigating challenges alone
* *Caseload caps and added clinical support* when workload or district conditions become difficult
* *A broader community of SLPs* for collaboration, problem-solving, and shared learning
* *Professional development designed specifically for SLPs*, both formal and informal
You focus on serving students. Empat helps make the work more supported, connected, and sustainable.
_*In-person school-based opportunities in and around Santa Fe and Española.*_
*About Empat Speech*
EmpatSpeech is a mission-driven speech-language services organization dedicated to expanding access to high-quality, culturally responsive SLP services for students who need them most. We partner with schools to place trained, supported SLPs directly on campus, bringing our evidence-based curriculum, supervision model, and professional development infrastructure into the heart of each school community.
*The Opportunity*
As a School-Based SLP with Empat Speech, you will deliver speech-language services directly to students on a school campus, using Empat Speech's curriculum, assessment frameworks, and clinical tools. This is a unique embedded role: you are part of the school community every day, yet your clinical home is Empat Speech. You'll benefit from robust onboarding, ongoing coaching, and a collaborative team of SLPs, while making a tangible, daily difference for students.
*What Makes This Role Distinct*
Unlike a district-employed SLP or an independent contractor, you will:
* Be employed, trained, and clinically supervised by Empat Speech
* Follow Empat Speech's curriculum, documentation standards, and service delivery models
* Serve students within a school setting alongside school staff, educators, and administrators
* Act as a professional bridge, representing Empat Speech's standards while building trust with school partners
* Participate in Empat Speech professional development, peer consultation, and quality reviews
*Key Responsibilities*
_*Clinical Service Delivery*_
* Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations using Empat Speech-approved assessment protocols
* Develop individualized treatment plans aligned to Empat Speech's curriculum framework and each student's IEP goals
* Deliver individual and small-group therapy sessions (in-person, on campus) with fidelity to Empat Speech's evidence-based approaches
* Implement culturally and linguistically responsive practices for diverse student populations
* Collect and analyze session data to monitor progress and adjust treatment accordingly
_*School Community Integration*_
* Build and maintain collaborative, professional relationships with teachers, special education coordinators, school psychologists, administrators, and families
* Participate in IEP meetings, student support team meetings, and school-based collaboration as a representative of Empat Speech
* Communicate effectively with school staff about student progress while maintaining FERPA compliance and Empat Speech confidentiality standards
* Navigate situations where school expectations and Empat Speech clinical standards may differ — escalating to Empat Speech supervision when needed
* Serve as a visible, trusted presence in the school building
_*Documentation & Compliance*_
* Complete all clinical documentation in Empat Speech's designated system within required timelines
* Maintain compliance with IDEA, state special education regulations, and Empat Speech quality standards
* Ensure all services are documented in accordance with IEP mandates and Empat Speech record-keeping protocols
* Participate in Empat Speech data reviews, outcome reporting, and quality improvement processes
_*Professional Development & Team Participation*_
* Attend all required Empat Speech training, onboarding modules, and continuing education sessions
* Engage in regular supervision with Empat Speech Clinical Supervisor
* Contribute to peer consultation, team calls, and Empat Speech community of practice
* Pursue ongoing professional development in alignment with ASHA and Empat Speech standards
*Required Qualifications*
* Master's degree (MS or MA) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology
* Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or CCC in active pursuit
* Current, valid SLP licensure in New Mexico
* School-based or pediatric clinical experience (practicum or post-graduate)
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
* Strong organizational and documentation skills
* Commitment to culturally responsive, equity-centered practice
*Preferred Qualifications*
* 2+ years of school-based SLP experience post-graduation
* Experience working with diverse student populations, including ELL students
* Familiarity with IDEA, IEP processes, and special education law
* Bilingual or multilingual skills (Spanish strongly valued)
* Experience with third-party or contracted service delivery in educational settings
