The Clinical Staff Leader is responsible for overseeing the delivery of safe and effective patient care within the Stepdown Unit. This role provides leadership, staff supervision, and development, ensuring the implementation of policies, resource allocation, and adherence to quality standards. The CSL collaborates with clinical teams to maintain a positive work environment and supports patient care excellence..
Hours of Position:
Full-time, nights
Stepdown is a 21 bed hardwired telemetry unit that focuses on acutely ill but stable patients requiring closer monitoring. We care for patients with a variety of cardiac, vascular and medical diagnoses with specialized needs such as cardiac arrhythmias, bedside cardioversions, titrated medications, oxygenation management, withdrawal, sepsis, stroke, and post-operative care.
Our staff is dedicated to provide excellent care to our patients. Our environment is challenging, fast-paced, team oriented, and patient and family centered. Our staff is very engaged with problem-solving and identifying ways to improve patient care. They have a desire to continue learning, have strong communication skills, and collaborate with the team to provide excellent patient care.
Daily interdisciplinary rounds include the provider, registered nurse, case manager, and a nurse leader. Each shift begins with a safety huddle to look back and forward 24 hours to review safety and quality concerns.
Ratio 4:1
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
Orientation: We offer 8-12 week orientation based on nursing experience.
Professionalism: critical thinking, collaboration, multidisciplinary rounding, bedside shift report, shared governance, certifications.
Medical equipment: ECG hardwired, alaris, pca, epidural, Etc02, bladder scanner, bipap, high flow oxygen therapy.
Drips: cardiac, IV fluids, blood products, sedation, TPN
Key Responsibilities:
Provides clinical consultation and support to Stepdown Unit staff, overseeing clinical quality efforts, including audits of protocols and surgical processes.
Collaborates with the Stepdown Manager/Director to maintain quality care standards as required by departmental protocols and regulatory agencies.
Ensures availability and readiness of supplies, equipment, and stock; addresses equipment needs, failures, or inventory issues to minimize disruptions in patient care.
Supports the professional development of staff by identifying learning needs, collaborating with the preceptor team and clinical educator, and assisting with orientation and ongoing training.
Assists primary physicians in performing procedures, preparing equipment, reviewing patient history, and providing first-assist support during procedures.
Ensures complete, accurate, and timely post-procedure data documentation in alignment with Stepdown Unit and hospital protocols.
Supervises, trains and oversees departmental staff.
Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Manager or Director on staffing issues.
Assists with and contributes to performance evaluations and goal setting.
Assists in managing departmental budget ensuring cost-effective operations while maintain high quality service.
Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
May contribute to evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
May contribute to development of departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.
May participate in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.

1. The design, optimization, technical evaluation, and precise and accurate delivery of treatment plans.
2. Maintain quality control of measurement instruments used to calibrate all treatment equipment and patient monitoring devices (e.g., ionization chambers, electrometers, constancy check instruments, water phantoms).
3. Participate in the specification, selection, acceptance, and commissioning of radiation-producing equipment, accessories, and computerized treatment planning systems.
4. Provide clinical support which includes, but is not limited to, patient specific dose measurements, appropriate use of multi-leaf collimators (MLC’s), and special external beam treatment techniques (e.g., SRS, SBRT, IMRT, IGRT, TBI, and HDR brachytherapy).
5. Maintain those aspects of the Quality Management (QM) program that involve the use of the external beam radiotherapy equipment.
6. Participate in the development, implementation, supervision, and review of the policies and procedures that encompass radiation therapy equipment.
7. Verify that all external beam radiation therapy equipment meets the manufacturer’s specifications and establish baseline performance values for new or refurbished equipment or for equipment following major repair.
8. Perform routine review of all patient treatment plans which includes a review of patient and dosimetric data as well as beam and machine parameters.
9. Participate in weekly department-wide chart rounds to ensure the fulfillment of the prescription and review any changes in dose, patient setup(s), and simulation.
10. Perform a weekly review of each patient’s record to ensure accuracy of calculations, appropriateness of charting data, and fulfillment of the physician’s written prescription.
11. Perform an end of treatment review of the patient’s entire record to affirm the fulfillment of the initial and/or revised prescription dose.
12. Perform special medical physics consults as ordered by the radiation oncologist(s).

2. Maintain quality control of measurement instruments used to calibrate all treatment equipment and patient monitoring devices (e.g., ionization chambers, electrometers, constancy check instruments, water phantoms).
3. Participate in the specification, selection, acceptance, and commissioning of radiation-producing equipment, accessories, and computerized treatment planning systems.
4. Provide clinical support which includes, but is not limited to, patient specific dose measurements, appropriate use of multi-leaf collimators (MLC’s), and special external beam treatment techniques (e.g., SRS, SBRT, IMRT, IGRT, TBI, and HDR brachytherapy).
5. Maintain those aspects of the Quality Management (QM) program that involve the use of the external beam radiotherapy equipment.
6. Participate in the development, implementation, supervision, and review of the policies and procedures that encompass radiation therapy equipment.
7. Verify that all external beam radiation therapy equipment meets the manufacturer’s specifications and establish baseline performance values for new or refurbished equipment or for equipment following major repair.
8. Perform routine review of all patient treatment plans which includes a review of patient and dosimetry data as well as beam and machine parameters.
9. Participate in weekly department-wide chart rounds to ensure the fulfillment of the prescription and review any changes in dose, patient setup(s), and simulation.
10. Perform a weekly review of each patient’s record to ensure accuracy of calculations, appropriateness of charting data, and fulfillment of the physician’s written prescription.
11. Perform an end of treatment review of the patient’s entire record to affirm the fulfillment of the initial and/or revised prescription dose.
12. Perform special medical physics consults as ordered by the radiation oncologist(s).

This job provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing and ventilation support services to both in-patients and out-patients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric. Monitors and weans Oxygen Therapy and Artificial ventilation, draws, analyzes and reports Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs, and delivers intermittent therapy. Demonstrate ability to provide comprehensive management of end-stage organ diseases and oversee the patient's journey through the transplant process.
Demonstrate knowledge and ability to facilitate living donation/transplantation and will utilize that knowledge to coordinate the care of the living donor for evaluation and live donation. Identifies appropriate live donor candidate upon referral and interacts with appropriate staff.

Obtains recipient blood type, tissue typing and cytotoxic antibodies according to transplant center protocol. Identifies possible co-morbidities in the transplant candidate and evaluates as indicated. Identifies absolute and relative contraindications to transplantation. Ensures patient understands risk and benefit of immunizations required prior to transplantation.

The Ambulatory Care Pharmacist serves as an integral member of the Medical Oncology team, providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role promotes continuity of care, supporting complex oncology patients.
In this role, the pharmacist serves as a clinical partner within a multidisciplinary care team, helping optimize complex medication regimens, monitor treatment response and toxicity, and support safe transitions between inpatient and outpatient care. The work is highly collaborative and focused on patient education, adherence, and evidence-based decision-making in a high-acuity setting.

- Grant Preparation (pre-award): Responsible for all administrative aspects of grant preparation of sponsored research applications. - Procurement: Approve and/or initiate purchase requests for investigators and laboratory members via Purchase Orders and PCard. Verify funds are available, expenses are allowable and correctly allocated in a timely manner. Review and approve bills for core and center services.
- Human Resources: Onboarding - conduct financial analysis to determine availability of funding, assist in the development of job descriptions, post positions, approve salary offers, process visa applications and payments as appropriate. Ongoing - process merit, equity and promotions requests. Manage salary allocations in adherence to funding guidelines and availability. Offboarding - manage termination process checklist, process termination paperwork.
- Compliance: Partners with faculty and researchers to ensure adherence to internal and external policies. This includes consulting with faculty/OGC/Innovations on MTA, DUA and consulting agreement processes. Also includes advising faculty and researchers and/or referring them to appropriate resources for other compliance issues such as financial conflict of interest and foreign influence. Educate new researchers and manage the federal time and effort process for applicable researchers. Continuous learning and educating of researchers on NIH Grants Policy Statement and DFCI Policies. Review Time and Effort prior to routing to researchers for certification.
- Cores, Centers and Chargebacks: Assist in pricing development and annual review of pricing, process monthly billing for internal and external customers, manage funds to ensure revenue meets expenditures.

This position is responsible for the cardiopulmonary bypass support of adult and pediatric patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery or patients requiring extracorporeal circulatory and/or respiratory support. Each perfusionist will be responsible for the selection, maintenance, and use of the perfusion hardware and software. The perfusionist coordinates and communicates with the OR team any needs or variances that arise during the operation. Additionally, the perfusionist is responsible for providing comprehensive management and coordination of care for specialized patient populations requiring ECMO therapy.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Performs required clinical tasks involving the circulatory and pulmonary support of patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass surgery or patients requiring extracorporeal vascular support during surgical intervention. This includes procedures that require cardiopulmonary bypass standby support and extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). The transport of ECMO patients both within the hospital and between institutions may be required. The perfusionist will conduct cardiopulmonary bypass and ECMO according to general departmental policies and procedures and according to the individual surgeon’s preferences regarding specific techniques. Techniques and the use of safety equipment recognized by the perfusion community as standards of practice will be followed. The perfusionist will perform the required number of perfusion procedures necessary to maintain certification and competency. The perfusionist may be responsible for the intraoperative management of ancillary equipment such as the intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) and blood salvage devices. Each perfusionist will abide by the call schedule created by the department supervisor.
2. Responsible for the proper selection, maintenance, and use of the equipment necessary to perform cardiopulmonary bypass and ECMO including hardware and disposables. The perfusionist will select equipment according to specific patient requirements for the procedure to be performed. Facilitates discussion with the health care team that includes medical record review, decisions needed for prime selection, drug and blood additives, and techniques of cardiopulmonary bypass. Responsible for cleaning and restocking all perfusion equipment and supplies following a procedure. The perfusion supply cart and/or area will be left fully stocked and ready for an emergent procedure.
3. Coordinates and deploys Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation support (ECMO) for patients requiring circulatory and/or respiratory support. Responsible for the clinical needs of the patient on ECMO which may include bedside management of oxygenation and carbon dioxide removal, maintenance of normal acid-base balance, administration of medications, blood and blood products, and maintenance of appropriate anticoagulation therapies for the blood. This may include the transport of patients on ECMO within or between institutions.
4. Responsible for the proper operation of various point-of-care blood analysis devices. Examples include but are not limited to blood gas analysis machines, devices that measure the activated clotting time (ACT), thromboelastography devices, heparin concentration machines or other blood analysis devices as necessary for cardiopulmonary bypass procedures. The perfusionist will abide by all policies and procedures pertaining to these devices as provided by the hospital’s Point-of-Care Testing department including annual competency testing and documentation.
5. Maintenance of a detailed Cardiopulmonary Bypass Record for each procedure by the perfusionist. The record will be part of the patient’s official medical record. A pre-bypass checklist will be completed for each procedure. Billing and charge forms detailing the equipment used will be completed by the perfusionist for each procedure and forwarded to the appropriate department. Other documentation as required will be completed as well.
6. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the perfusionist will be required to serve as a Clinical Instructor for students enrolled in the Perfusion Science School, University of Arizona at Banner institutions that support the perfusion school. Will provide clinical support for student’s research projects when appropriate.
7. Fosters an atmosphere of continuing education for self and peers. Attends continuing education opportunities and department meetings regularly. Participates in other projects assigned by the department supervisor.
8. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
9. Works independently to provide excellent patient care. Internal customers include patients, staff, and physicians. External customers include patient family.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Provides the following services to clients including: conducting face-to-face assessments; establishing diagnoses; making treatment suggestions; ordering Behavioral Health Intervention Services (BHIS) services (when indicated); and, assisting with referrals to BHIS providers. Provides mental health, substance abuse, trauma, and personal growth related therapy services to clients. Responsibilities encompass the provision of advanced evaluative, preventive, therapeutic, restorative and personal care services to assist in meeting the complex psychosocial needs of clients and their families, thus enabling them to better utilize program services and resources in order to achieve their optimal level of change/well-being.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides therapy services in individual and group sessions.
- Provides crisis intervention and conflict resolution assistance. Demonstrates ability to differentiate between emergency and non-emergency tasks and responds accordingly.
- Provides immediate supportive counseling and necessary assistance to clients dealing with a crisis or emergency situation.
- Provides continuum of services that includes appropriate mental health supports, etc.
- Completes an initial assessment through utilization of proven tools including the American Society of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Criteria (ASAM). Obtains bio-psychosocial history information and identifies client needs by interviewing the client, reviewing available records, conferring with other professionals and appropriate House of Mercy staff, and contacting other information sources as necessary and appropriate. Analysis and evaluation of client situation consistently reflects advanced competency in psychosocial assessment and diagnosis.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Master’s Degree in a human services related discipline, required.
- Temporary license to provide mental health therapy in the State of Iowa or LMSW (licensed master social worker)
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within first 30 days of employment.

Summary
Overview The Behavioral Health Specialist I (BHS I) provides direct care, safety, and therapeutic support to children and adolescents in inpatient or partial psychiatric programs. Working under the Clinical Nurse Manager, Program Director, and Charge RN, the BHS I helps structure the therapeutic milieu, contributes to daily programming, and documents patient observations under RN supervision. Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain a Safe & Therapeutic Environment
Engage with assigned children throughout the shift.
Implement and document physician/RN‑ordered observation levels.
Assist with daily routines, ADLs, and hygiene needs.
Support visiting parents per treatment team direction.
Identify and report safety concerns or unit issues.
Provide timely therapeutic interventions during disruptive or unsafe situations.
Complete incident reports, intakes, and participate in restraint debriefings.
Follow delegated assignments and report back before shift change.
Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
2. Follow Policies & Maintain Required Certifications
Adhere to all hospital, departmental, and program policies.

Organize and participate in unit activities and developmental programming.
Assist with family teaching visits and parent training.
Model appropriate therapeutic interactions with patients and families.
Co‑lead therapy groups with clinicians and support recreation therapy programs.
Manage crises safely using least‑restrictive interventions.
Seek supervision and integrate feedback into practice.
Perform additional duties as assigned and assist in other programs when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in a human services field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn required skills.
Knowledge of lifespan development, cultural considerations, and psychiatric care needs.
Safety Care Certification (provided upon hire).
Experience
6 months to 1 year of direct childcare experience with emotionally impaired youth.
