Respiratory Therapist, RRT, Nightshift, 7p to 7a at St Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA
What you will do:
provide respiratory patient care services and/or support activities appropriate to ages served.
Participate in the delivery and act as a resource person for the technical aspects of respiratory care to ensure safe, competent, effective, and compassionate administration of prescribed care in keeping with the values and missions of St. Mary’s.
What you will need:
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must maintain a Respiratory Care Practitioner License in the State of Georgia. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist and/or Registry Eligible by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Membership in a professional organization preferred
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program and be a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Associate or bachelor’s Degree preferred. Must maintain current BLS and ACLS. NRP is required if working in NICU.
Experience: One year of clinical respiratory therapy experience is preferred. Will accept new registry eligible graduate.

We are looking to hire a Registered Nurse to join our Interventional Cath Lab Team at MercyOne Genesis in Davenport, Iowa!

Schedule:
- Full time, mostly day shift
- 4- 8 hr days per week plus call
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care activities in the Cath Lab & other applicable procedural areas implementing an outcome-based plan of care
- Identifies learning needs and implements a plan for the patient, conducts patient and family teaching and documents teaching done
- Appropriately uses equipment required to perform Cath Lab procedures
- Understands varying treatment needs and approaches for patients across the life span, as appropriate to the department
- Performs independently in the role of scrub tech, circulator, and hemodynamic monitor and obtains data collection with physiologic calculations specific to the procedure performed and documents
- Initiates BLS/ACLS protocols as appropriate in cardiac emergencies
- Provides care utilizing critical thinking skills based on patients' needs and acuity, and is consistent with policies and procedures of the department
- Coordinates and provides care with a team approach
- Demonstrates clinical competency
- Facilitates medication administration, initiates and manages IV therapy
- Assures medication safety by following the “5 Rights of Medication Administration”
- Manages patient’s pain in accordance with policy
- Monitors and manages conscious sedation/sedated patients in accordance with policy
- Responsible for daily count of controlled substances
- Cross trained to work in other procedural areas as needed
- Assists with and implements appropriate interventions during Cardiovascular Procedures under the direction of a licensed professional
- Communicates relevant clinical information to optimize patient outcomes to phys. and other health care professionals
- Documents completely and legibly
- Conducts an initial assessment and ongoing assessments
- Completes initial assessment in accordance with policy
- Completes ongoing assessments based on patient’s individual needs and/or unit specific time frames
- Identifies problems, needs and/or changes in patient conditions and implements interventions
- Performs indirect patient care activities to maintain department standards
- Cleans and maintains equipment as needed
- Assures all patient care and storage areas are clean and organized
- Assists with supply ordering as assigned
- Participates in unit-based quality monitoring of patient/procedural outcomes
- Charges patient account for procedures and supplies in a timely manner
- Demonstrates responsibility for cost-containment in daily practice
- Identifies process improvement opportunities and supports change within the department/organization
- Participates in and supports precepting and mentoring activities for new employees in the lab as requested by manager
- Does follow up calls to patients as assigned. (customer service, fluoro time)
- Familiar with regulatory requirements and assists with surveys as assigned
- Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit, which may include: 18-65 Yrs: Adults and 65+ Yrs: Geriatrics
- Collects, analyzes, interprets and applies age-specific data
- Performs tasks/procedures, uses equipment in an age-appropriate manner
- Communicates and works with others in an age-appropriate manner
- Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
- Attends required safety programs
- Appropriately and consistently uses the personal protective equipment required of the job
- Knows and can demonstrate departmental emergency procedures for fire, disaster and other emergency situations
- Reports and removes unsafe equipment/furniture
- Asks for assistance when needed to assure safety for all involved
- Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior
General Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Cath Lab or special procedures lab preferred or 3 years critical care experience
- Possession of a current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa and IL RN license within one year

- Intermediate language, high math, high reasoning ability

4. Participates in meeting the goals and objectives of the work unit and department to ensure that the department contributes to the attainment of the hospital’s organization's goals and objectives.
5. Supervision of physical therapy students and volunteers. Will provide supervision of therapy assistants in accordance with regulatory standards.
6. Submits accurate charges for services rendered for patients, according to departmental policies and procedures utilizing the billing system via the patient’s EMR.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of a NBRC approved Respiratory Therapist program. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Specific certifications as required (i.e. PALS, ACLS, NRP).

Physical Requirements

Motor coordination is necessary because of uneven terrain. Both the patient's and the team member's well being must not be jeopardized. Hearing must be in normal range as well as near visual acuity to be able to take accurate vital signs and to detect any deterioration in the patients condition. Normal eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity to give injections, medications and intravenous therapy. Must have good oral communication skills to take patient history, give instruction and communicate with physician about patient care.

This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with 2 years of Radiologic Technologist experience. POSITION SUMMARY
This position manages a complex caseload of patients by providing comprehensive nutritional assessments and nutrition-focused physical exams, developing and managing all aspects of appropriate nutrition care plans and monitoring outcomes of plans. Provides patient and family nutrition counseling and education. Develops Nutrition Standards of Practice and Education material in collaboration with peers. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary Health Care team providing input into patient care policies, programs, quality improvement activities and provides in-service education in areas of expertise.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides comprehensive nutrition assessment of patients' nutritional needs, to include nutrition-focused physical exams as appropriate. Obtains timely and appropriate data and analyzes/interprets data based on evidence-based standards and established practice guidelines.
2. Demonstrates and maintains competency in enteral and parenteral clinical practice protocols and oral nutrition management standard of practice as demonstrated by successful completion of initial competency exams and ongoing evaluation.
3. Writes orders to initiate and manage the nutrition care and of all assigned patients including those receiving nutrition support (parenteral and enteral nutrition) per protocols.
4. Evaluates effectiveness of the care plan and communicates effectively to the other members of the healthcare team to provide optimal nutrition outcomes. Provides pertinent information in the medical records, patient plans of care and/or clinical pathways while meeting requirements of regulatory agencies (i.e. Joint Commission, CMS, State and Local Agencies).
5. Provides nutrition education to patients, families, staff and other health care team professionals through the development of effective teaching materials and in-service programs; Evaluates patient and/or family response to education.
6. Provides leadership in area of coverage, monitors proper patient care procedures and acts as liaison with nursing areas. May participate in process improvement teams. Serves as mentor to new staff and interns where assigned.
7. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities in clinical areas to ensure optimal nutrition care outcomes are achieved. May participate in outcome studies as needed. In some roles, this position may manage assigned staff: recruits, selects, trains, evaluates, manages performance.
8. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess knowledge of nutrition and dietetics demonstrated through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent coursework. Must be a Registered Dietitian or RD Eligible based on academic and professional requirements as defined by the Commission on Dietetic Registration(CDR) of The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Effective January 1, 2024 CDR requires a minimum of Master's degree to be eligible to take the registration examination. Must possess RD credentials within 6 months of hire. Diabetes Care Clinic helps patients manage condition and enabling them to lead the lives they want to lead. The program Plantar Fasciitis (PF) preventive and maintenance services for adult suffering from diabetes.
Under limited supervision, provides professional medical nutrition therapy to groups and individuals of all ages and abilities, in a variety of settings in the outpatient nutrition service area. Follows established standards of practice and guidelines defined by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, USDA, American Diabetes Association, and other evidenced based resources for the assessment of patients, and subsequent planning, implementation, evaluation of nutrition education. Services also includes continuum of care for out-patients requiring medical nutrition therapy. Works with an established multidisciplinary team of professionals to provide quality nutrition education services including all department services. Also provides support the outpatient diabetes education services as needed.
Job Description:
Performs and documents a complete and comprehensive medical nutrition therapy plan in accordance with scope of practice, policies and procedures, national standards of care, as well as consideration of the needs, barriers, andskills/abilities/resources/support system of each patient service in the outpatient setting.
Coordinates the nutritional plan of care for outpatients as part of the diabetes education program, and supports the overall established diabetes educational curriculum.
Provides counseling in an effective and compassionate way, using active listening techniques and professional behavior, individualizing the care of each patient, setting mutually agreed upon goals, performing follow up activities.
Works with RNs and all members of the team in the department to provide individual and group classes for all types of diabetes related services, including Diabetes Prevention Program.
Crosstrained to provide diabetes education services as need arises.
Accountable for measurements of effective and successful education to patients through measured goals and outcome reports, audits, and satisfaction survey/feedback.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the evaluation, planning, administration and supervision of Physical Therapy treatment in accordance with physician referral, state and national organizational standards, regulatory agencies, and established departmental policies and procedures. This position demonstrates the clinical competence and knowledge necessary to provide treatment appropriate to the age of the patients served.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Evaluates patient's functional abilities and limitations. Determines if intervention is needed. Establishes a plan of care and treatment goals. Completes comprehensive evaluation within the established time frame set by the department. Identifies and prioritizes key limiting factors. Establishes treatment goals that are functional, measurable, patient related and reflects the key limiting factors. Collaborates with patient and family/caregiver when setting goals. Initiates discharge planning. Recommends additions to or modifications of referring orders.
2. Implements individualized treatment plan with consideration to the patient's physical, social, spiritual, cultural, educational and age specific needs. Provides skilled treatment in a safe manner. Assesses ongoing effectiveness of treatment and modifies plan of care as indicated. Involves patient and family/caregiver in the treatment and decision making process. Provides ongoing education to physician, nurse, patient, family/caregiver, and interdisciplinary team.
3. Documents according to professional practice guidelines set by regulatory agencies. Documents legibly. Completes documentation within the established time frames of the department. Documents evidence based and individualized treatment techniques/plan. Documentation reflects skilled intervention and comprehensive assessment of the patient's progress or lack of progress. Treatment goals are reassessed according to department policies.
4. Communicates pertinent patient information to ensure the best possible follow through of care. Communicates evaluation/treatment results and patient progress to physicians, nurses, patient, family/caregiver, and interdisciplinary team. Communicates in a clear and timely manner. Accepts responsibility to contact physicians for routine or difficult problem solving to ensure optimal patient outcome. Defends treatment rationale with standard practices and/or current literature.
5. Exhibits adaptability in assignments as it relates to caseload, scheduling, and staffing shifts. Takes initiative to assist in other patient care areas and accepts responsibility for all patient care needs.
6. Demonstrates appropriate supervision and delegation of personnel to achieve safe delivery of quality cost effective patient care. Supervision and delegation of the PTA, ATC, Therapy Technician and student complies with department policies and regulatory agencies. Participates in the training and orientation of new personnel. Assures competency of personnel, prior to delegation of task.
7. Department operational activities. Attends department required meetings and/or follows up to obtain pertinent information. Participates in departmental/facility process improvement. Meets productivity standards set by the department.
8. This position has responsibility for interacting with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts such as employees of other health care institutions, community provides and agencies concerning the health care of the patient. Also interacts with the physician offices in order to report, request or clarify information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have graduated from an APTA accredited school of Physical Therapy, or equivalent.
Must possess a current Physical Therapy license within the State of practice. Per California regulations, internationally trained candidates have six-months from the time of hire to obtain a current license.BLS certification required.
Relates throughout the interview process their clinical competency, experience, training and education they have received that is required to perform the job. Demonstrates through behaviors and answers to job related experiential questions. Must have the ability to become proficient with computer software applications commonly used in an automated patient care environment.
