Patients depend on our team for the best in evidence-based care and innovative therapies, such as inhaled nitric oxide, high-frequency oscillation, and invasive and non-invasive ventilator support modalities. Opportunities exist for motivated Registered Respiratory Therapists (and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technicians) with the skills to provide a high level of quality service in a variety of settings including the ED, Trauma and Critical Care.
Summary:
Provides care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.
Responsibilities:
Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources.
Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition.
Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment.
Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.

- You will organize patient care by prioritizing, delegating, delivering and evaluating on an ongoing basis
- You will utilize the knowledge base of nursing education and experience to deliver nursing care using the nursing process according to hospital policies, procedures and protocols
- Collaborate with the nursing team to facilitate overall improvement in quality of care, patient experience and cost reduction

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, or obtained within five (5) years from the initial date of hire; RN with 15+ years of service or internal candidates hired before January 1, 2021 may be considered in satisfaction of this requirement in lieu of an education agreement
- Advanced degree in Nursing (MSN, PhD, DNP, ARNP) preferred
- Registered Nurse license (RN) in Washington State or multi-state licensure endorsement (MSL)
- Current BLS Certification required
- ACLS or NALS or PALS or TNCC or NRP certification, as required by facility or department
- Certification in specialty area preferred
- One (1) year of experience in acute care setting preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $48.15 - $90.83 USD. SUMMARY:
Under the direction of Clinical Nurse Manager (Inpatient)/Program Director (Partial) and Unit Charge RN, the Behavioral Health Specialist I (BHS I) is responsible for providing care and safety to children and adolescents as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team. The BHS I is responsible for input into the formulation of the day-to-day schedule and structure of a therapeutic milieu and the implementation, observation, and documentation of this program under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Participates in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. Actively engages with assigned children throughout shift. Participates in the development and operationalization of the milieu care plan for assigned patients according to established department and unit-based procedure/policy. Maintains and documents level of patient observation as ordered by the physician/charge RN each shift. Provides support to visiting parents as well as information according to treatment team request. Supervises assigned children in daily routines and actively assists with activities of daily living and basic hygiene needs. Identifies, reports, and resolves potentialctual problems on the unit. Demonstrates appropriate critical incident follow-up skills by timely verbal reporting to charge RN and documentation in medical record. Completes other documentation (i.e., incident reports, intakes, etc. as applicable). Participates in restraint debriefings. Carries out daily assignment as delegated by Charge RN and reports back prior to change of shift. Intervenes in disruptive milieu or destructive to self/other patient situations providing timely therapeutic intervention(s) to children in distress. Maintains appropriate boundaries.
B. Adheres to Hospital, Departmental, and Program policies and procedures. Attends peer review and staff meetings as assigned. Maintains current certification in crisis management. Maintains current CPR certification. Maintains current OSHA, ERS, Safety Certifications Attends unit/hospital staff development as assigned.
C. Actively participates in the patient care planning process under the direction of the primary/charge RN. Works to support initial therapeutic alliance with patient and family on admission.Assists with the separation process and performs other duties necessary to provide a smooth transition to the hospital environment. Within the 8-hour shift, documents objective observations within a shift note and shares observations with assigned RN. Reviews milieu care plan and problem list on a daily basis and suggests revisions based on observations. Communicates individual patient milieu care plans in an ongoing manner to other unit staff including liaison with other interdisciplinary treatment providers. Actively participates in treatment team, rounds, patient-specific discussions, and hand-off shift report, as assigned. Accurately documents significant patient/family observations/milieu care on the Kardex and medical records in a timely fashion. Offers information and knowledge acquired through experience to other staff via formal/ informal staff development forums. Is able to adapt care “style” to meet needs of various children and adolescents.
D. Supports and contributes to the development of care plans/behavioral management. Assists and teaches patients in activities of daily living and personal hygiene based upon patient’s abilities. Co-leads community meeting/milieu meeting/social skill group. Co-leads other program specific groups such as activity or recreation. The Supervisor is responsible for supervising operational activities and providing clinical management of rehab services to the patient populations served by the facility. Utilizes the language of the current DSM V to establish comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and subsequent planning and treatment. Coordinates and facilitates system treatment meetings, on and off site, to develop comprehensive treatment plans. Works with patients and their families, including treatment planning implementation, group and individual therapy, and coordinates community services and discharge planning. Works with insurance companies to fulfill all requirements for appropriate referrals to inpatient units, outpatient care and diversion programs, while strongly advocating for the patient. Participates in the orientation and/or training of new staff, students and others.I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides psychosocial history and mental status assessment of patients in psychiatric crisis at the University campus and mobiles to off-site locations.
2. Assigns the appropriate clinical level of care to each patient including inpatient, outpatient, diversion programs, providing information and referrals to specialized intervention programs, including substance abuse detoxification and rehabilitation. Understands clinical levels of treatment.
3. Develops and maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Actively participates in psychiatric emergencies, including restraint of out-of-control patients, while maintaining safety in the milieu.
4. Triages calls of patients with psychiatric emergencies, including suicide ideation and/or attempts, and determines which intervention is needed. Identifies clinical resources and makes referrals when necessary. Serves as a referral source for patient, family members and agency staff.
5. Functions in a Case Management role, facilitating and coordinating referral and access to psychiatric treatment, delivery of social services, including financial assistance, health insurance, community-based care and medical contracts/collaboration.
6. Assesses factors relating to need for care, adjustment to care, and response to treatment as documented in the clinical record. Facilitates communication with all outpatient treaters, including psychiatric outpatient, social services and medical, i.e. Primary Care Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Visiting Nurse, and interfaces with these providers to coordinate treatment planning, serving as a referral source for patients and family members to assist in their compliance with treatment recommendations.
7. Maintains current knowledge and compliance for all managed care specifications regarding notification, presentation of clinical information, pre-certification, billing and faxing requirements.
8. Documents all information obtained in evaluation, assessment, consultation, referral and disposition to comply with regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring best possible patient outcome. Actively participates in formulation and execution of Quality Improvement and subsequent data collection.
9. Maintains service logs are required. Codes for billing according to current practice.
10. Obtains vital signs and specimens as ordered, and uses computer ordering system to facilitate specimens to the lab.
11. Actively engages in Continuing Education to maintain and expand current knowledge as required to maintain licensure, as well as to enhance professional expertise and keep abreast of current trends.
12. Maintains basic life support (BLS) certification every two years.
13. Maintains all psychiatric competencies including annual CARE training.

The therapist is responsible for the evaluation and treatment of patients referred to the facility.
