GENERAL SUMMARY:
A Respiratory Therapist performs patient assessment, evaluation for appropriate therapy, administration of therapy, consultation with other health care providers, diagnostic testing, implementation and troubleshooting of equipment and monitoring of patient. These services are provided as appropriate for patient age to include neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric adult.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs inhaled medication therapy, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, chest physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, helium-oxygen therapy, carbon dioxide-oxygen therapy, nitric oxide-oxygen therapy, CPAP therapy, BIPAP therapy, bland aerosol therapy, PEP therapy, high-frequency oscillator therapy, and ventilatory support modalities as ordered by physician.
- Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, assists or performs intubation, manages artificial airway, and transport of patients requiring ventilatory support.
- Assembles, manipulates, and troubleshoots Respiratory Care equipment including mechanical ventilators, pulse oximeters, capnometers, aerosol generators, medical gas delivery systems, humidification systems, and mechanical percussors.
- Interprets diagnostic results for feasibility and reports results, to include blood or other body fluid analysis by blood gas analyzer and co-oximeter, pulmonary function screening, pulmonary mechanics studies, end-tidal C02, and pulse oximetry.
- Performs record keeping, billing and medical record documentation functions.
- Provides patient instruction in the use of Respiratory Care devices and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate of completion from an accredited Respiratory Care Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP).
- Credential by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.

As an Acute Medication History Pharmacy Technician, this role obtains and documents accurate medication histories by interviewing patients, families, and other sources. This part time position follows a schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and includes rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

Clinical Pharmacy Services provides collaborative drug therapy management and educational interventions in patient care to optimize medication therapy, improve outcomes, promote wellness, and disease prevention. This position, under the supervision of a pharmacist, is responsible for obtaining a patient’s complete medication history through communication with the patient, family, and/or other resources and documenting it into the medical record. Medication History technicians (MHTs) perform an important function in collecting an accurate and complete medication history from every patient they encounter.A complete medication history will include prescription medications, over-the-counter (OTC) products, herbal supplements, vitamins/minerals, and other similar products.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Identifies and prioritizes patients according to need for medication history collection. Reviews and collects proper information for interview prior to patient interaction.
2. Interviews patients to collect the medication history. Asks pertinent questions to ensure capture of all prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, and herbal/dietary supplements. As necessary, contacts family or other resources (e.g. outside pharmacy) to get a more complete medication history.
3. Documents medication history and allergies in the electronic health record according to established procedures. Tracks history collection through intervention documentation. As appropriate, notifies proper hospital staff of medication history completion.
4. Follows procedure for infection control, safe patient practices (e.g. using 2 patient identifiers), interpreter services, and contraindications to patient interview.
5. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with all policies, laws, and regulations. Performs quality control activities such as monthly nursing unit inspections and pharmacy section checks in a timely manner.
6. Assumes the duties of the Acute Pharmacy Technician when needed and as appropriate. These duties may include, but are not limited to preparing, charging and crediting medications, restocking automated dispensing technology and compounding specialty medications and intravenous medications, to include hazardous and chemotherapeutic agents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice.
Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.
Minimum of two years pharmacy technician experience. Must have the knowledge of brand/generic names of drugs, including OTC’s and their strengths/uses, as well as knowledge of herbal/dietary supplements and their strengths/uses. Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator is required. Strong customer service focus, exceptional communication skills, strong attention to detail, prioritization capabilities, superior problem-solving skills, and ability to multi-task. Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications and Automated dispensing systems.Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and other contacts.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.

Demonstrates knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and the equipment needed for each and can conduct prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation.
Administers therapeutic procedures, understanding the purpose and benefits, and possible effects associated with each.
Performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
Initiates, monitors and maintains mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilators and is aware of the critical care duties and effects of such therapy.
Independently evaluates current therapies using appropriate judgment and protocols, making proper recommendations concerning plans of care and patient education needs.
Documents therapy and results as required by hospital, department and regulatory agencies. Communicates information to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
Initiates, conducts and modifies respiratory care techniques in an emergency setting.
Performs and evaluates blood sampling analysis with a thorough understanding of the values, and the importance and treatment of abnormal results.
Works independently in all patient care areas and assists co-workers with patient care whenever possible.
Follows departmental safety guidelines. Completes all regulatory requirements.
Completes annual proficiency evaluation of respiratory care equipment and procedures.
Is proficient in the electronic medical records and its interface with the Respiratory Care Department.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
- Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care. Associate's RRT or RRT Equivalent required.
Certification / Registration / License
- Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of applicable state. BLS required per policy guidelines.
Experience
- For free-standing Emergency Department and Virtual Critical Care, 2 years' critical care experience required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Selects appropriate measures and performs a functional assessment to document patient's status requiring skilled therapy. • Treatment Implementation (Novice): Demonstrates proficiency in providing treatment consistent with physician prescription and established plan of care. Able to modify treatment plan as needed to demonstrate provision of skilled therapy services including progression of treatment throughout course of care, and revision of treatment interventions of goals not met. May supervise and direct certified athletic trainers (PT only), physical therapist / occupational therapist assistants, technicians and volunteers and students. This position offers an exceptional range of high-acuity, specialty device experience far beyond standard PICC line placement. We're looking for a skilled clinician with at least one year of bedside experience who is ready to serve as a vascular access specialist and valued resource within a collaborative, 13–14 member team.
This position is a night shift role (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM) primarily based at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO, where you will spend approximately 80% of your time, with occasional float coverage to our Fort Collins location as needed.
Enjoy a flat rate $1.50/hour weekend shift differential and a $5.00/hour weekend shift differential when applicable.

This position independently provides and maintains peripheral and central venous access. This position conducts patient assessments and provides recommendations regarding care, serves as a resource person and specialist and provides assistance with departmental activities, quality improvement and development of best practice guidelines.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Reviews labs, patient history and physician orders to determine appropriate line to be utilized for the procedure and/or identify potential issues that may arise or preclude the patient from being a viable candidate or require alternate form of vascular access. Collaborates with physicians to determine appropriate long-term access needs. Obtains patient’s authorization to perform the procedure. Inserts peripheral venous and/or arterial catheters to provide access or more complex vascular access as indicated.
2. Inserts and maintains peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) lines according to department policy and procedures to include dressing changes, line reviews and declotting. Utilizes ultrasound technology to ensure accurate insertion of the PICC line. Reviews chest x-rays to ensure accurate placement of the central venous catheter or device. Maintains sterile field throughout the insertion process to ensure quality outcomes. Maintains accurate, timely and appropriate documentation.
3. Inserts and maintains all central lines (simple and complex) in the neck and chest according to department policy and procedures to include dressing changes, line reviews, port access and declotting. Utilizes ultrasound technology, advanced knowledge of anatomy and specialized insertion techniques to ensure accurate and appropriate insertion of the central line. Reviews chest x-rays to ensure accurate placement of the central venous catheter or device. Maintains sterile field throughout the insertion process to ensure quality outcomes. Maintains accurate, timely and appropriate documentation.
4. Participates in ongoing monitoring of quality initiatives, department database, appropriateness and effectiveness of bundle compliance, acts as a change agent and participates in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of quality goals/objective and quality management activities within the clinical service lines. May coordinate oversight of quality and safety standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
5. Acts as a resource to therapists and other healthcare practitioners regarding patient status, equipment and operational issues. Participates in interdisciplinary rounding, making recommendations for changes in therapy dictated by the patient’s condition.
6. Provides training, orientation and patient education to staff, patients and families, in accordance with policy and practice guidelines. Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures based on best practice.
7. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services. Provides maintenance of associated equipment as demonstrated through observation and documentation.
8. May, on occasion, provide respiratory therapy services as prescribed and in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures, including inserting and maintaining arterial lines, assisting in FDPAC and IAPB insertion and associated invasive cardiac outputs/profile and non-invasive cardiac outputs. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
9. This position independently provides central and peripheral vascular access, and advanced clinical monitoring techniques to a diverse patient population. Serves as a resource person and may provide direction to staff. Internal customers: All levels of nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: Physicians and their office staff, payers, community agencies and regulatory agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or technical degree. Successful completion of a training course in PICC and Banner Health Sims Lab training for CVC insertions.
Proof of good standing with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). A current license in state practiced as required by state law.
Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
In-depth knowledge of clinical techniques, applications and equipment as typically obtained through 4 years of clinical experience as a RRT, including 1 year of independent PICC or CVC line insertions.
Must possess highly effective human relation skills necessary to interface with patients, families, staff and other healthcare personnel.

- Provides anesthesia services, including general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care to patients which includes: the induction of anesthesia; the maintenance of anesthesia at the required levels; the support of life functions during the administration of anesthesia, including induction and intubations; the recording of all pertinent events during the induction of, maintenance of and emergence from anesthesia; the recognition and the taking of appropriate corrective action (including requesting consultation when necessary) for abnormal patient responses to anesthesia or to any adjunctive medication or other form of therapy; and the professional observation and resuscitative care (including requesting consultation when necessary) until the patient has regained control of his/her vital functions.
- Performs pre-anesthesia functions including: determining that an appropriate pre-anesthetic examination has been made by a physician; insuring that relevant tests have been completed and a thorough assessment of the patient has been performed; reviewing the patient's condition immediately prior to the induction of an anesthesia; checking the readiness, availability, cleanliness, sterility when required and working conditions of all the equipment used in the administration of anesthetic agents prior to administering anesthesia.
- Performs post-anesthesia duties including: remaining with the patient until it is safe to transfer responsibility for care to other qualified individuals; advising personnel responsible for post-anesthetic care of specific problems presented by the patient's condition; administering post-operative epidural pain relief and other post-operative analgesia in collaboration with the surgeon and making post-anesthetic visits regarding the presence or absence of anesthesia related complications.
- Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution.
- Responds to life threatening, Code Blue/Code 4 and respiratory emergencies if available by establishing and maintaining an airway under the direction of a physician. Assists nursing units with difficult intravenous (IV) insertions when requested, when available and when attempts by other professionals have been unsuccessful.
- May administers anesthesia under the supervision of the operating surgeon.
- May provides labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center.
- Maintains knowledge of scientific theory, research findings, current practice and applicable standards.

The Hyperbaric Wound Department at ABMC delivers comprehensive wound care services across a diverse patient population ranging from pediatric to geriatric. This highly collaborative team is staffed by skilled Registered Nurses and Hyperbaric Technicians who work together to provide safe, evidence‑based care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

This position offers an exceptional range of high-acuity, specialty device experience far beyond standard PICC line placement. We're looking for a skilled clinician with at least one year of bedside experience who is ready to serve as a vascular access specialist and valued resource within a collaborative, 13–14 member team.
This position is a night shift role (6:00 PM – 6:30 AM) primarily based at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, CO, where you will spend approximately 80% of your time, with occasional float coverage to our Fort Collins location as needed.
Enjoy a flat rate $1.50/hour weekend shift differential and a $5.00/hour weekend shift differential when applicable.

This position independently provides and maintains peripheral and central venous access. This position conducts patient assessments and provides recommendations regarding care, serves as a resource person and specialist and provides assistance with departmental activities, quality improvement and development of best practice guidelines.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Reviews labs, patient history and physician orders to determine appropriate line to be utilized for the procedure and/or identify potential issues that may arise or preclude the patient from being a viable candidate or require alternate form of vascular access. Collaborates with physicians to determine appropriate long-term access needs. Obtains patient’s authorization to perform the procedure. Inserts peripheral venous and/or arterial catheters to provide access or more complex vascular access as indicated.
2. Inserts and maintains peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) lines according to department policy and procedures to include dressing changes, line reviews and declotting. Utilizes ultrasound technology to ensure accurate insertion of the PICC line. Reviews chest x-rays to ensure accurate placement of the central venous catheter or device. Maintains sterile field throughout the insertion process to ensure quality outcomes. Maintains accurate, timely and appropriate documentation.
3. Inserts and maintains all central lines (simple and complex) in the neck and chest according to department policy and procedures to include dressing changes, line reviews, port access and declotting. Utilizes ultrasound technology, advanced knowledge of anatomy and specialized insertion techniques to ensure accurate and appropriate insertion of the central line. Reviews chest x-rays to ensure accurate placement of the central venous catheter or device. Maintains sterile field throughout the insertion process to ensure quality outcomes. Maintains accurate, timely and appropriate documentation.
4. Participates in ongoing monitoring of quality initiatives, department database, appropriateness and effectiveness of bundle compliance, acts as a change agent and participates in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of quality goals/objective and quality management activities within the clinical service lines. May coordinate oversight of quality and safety standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
5. Acts as a resource to therapists and other healthcare practitioners regarding patient status, equipment and operational issues. Participates in interdisciplinary rounding, making recommendations for changes in therapy dictated by the patient’s condition.
6. Provides training, orientation and patient education to staff, patients and families, in accordance with policy and practice guidelines. Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures based on best practice.
7. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services. Provides maintenance of associated equipment as demonstrated through observation and documentation.
8. May, on occasion, provide respiratory therapy services as prescribed and in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures, including inserting and maintaining arterial lines, assisting in FDPAC and IAPB insertion and associated invasive cardiac outputs/profile and non-invasive cardiac outputs. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.
9. This position independently provides central and peripheral vascular access, and advanced clinical monitoring techniques to a diverse patient population. Serves as a resource person and may provide direction to staff. Internal customers: All levels of nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: Physicians and their office staff, payers, community agencies and regulatory agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or technical degree. Successful completion of a training course in PICC and Banner Health Sims Lab training for CVC insertions.
Proof of good standing with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). A current license in state practiced as required by state law.
Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
In-depth knowledge of clinical techniques, applications and equipment as typically obtained through 4 years of clinical experience as a RRT, including 1 year of independent PICC or CVC line insertions.
Must possess highly effective human relation skills necessary to interface with patients, families, staff and other healthcare personnel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
CPUI and VA-BC certifications preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

The Emergency Department at Atrium Health Cabarrus delivers comprehensive, high-quality care to both adult and pediatric patients, supported by a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary team. PCU Neuro Trauma is a 48 bed Neuro unit encompassing 8 EMU (epilepsy monitoring unit) beds. The Neuroscience Service Line at BUMCP offers state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment modalities for patients while creating a rich educational and collaborative environment for nursing and medical staff. Our exciting accomplishments include laser thermal ablation of tumors, awake craniotomies, surgery for brainstem lesions, and endoscopic microsurgery. As the first comprehensive stroke center in Arizona, we take a multi-disciplinary team approach that involves nurses in the plan of care for the patient. Ratios flex between 1:3-4 and 1:6 in an RN/LPN team model.
This is a Night shift and will require 3 shifts per week from 7:00pm-7:30am with weekends and holidays included on a rotating basis. On call, weekends, holidays: rotating with other staff. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.

Assists with delegated treatment plan activities that include but are not limited to: patient mobility, transporting patients to and from treatment areas, assisting patients in and out of bed, assisting with lifts, ambulating patients, assisting patient for wound care treatments and for wound rounds.
- Gathers patient information prior to assign patients’ treatment session. Selects appropriate measures and performs a functional assessment to document patient's status requiring skilled therapy. • Treatment Implementation (Novice): Demonstrates proficiency in providing treatment consistent with physician prescription and established plan of care. Able to modify treatment plan as needed to demonstrate provision of skilled therapy services including progression of treatment throughout course of care, and revision of treatment interventions of goals not met. May supervise and direct certified athletic trainers (PT only), physical therapist / occupational therapist assistants, technicians and volunteers and students. Selects and follows correct protocol for care and utilize evidence based treatments. Has completed at least one year of clinical experience in treatment implementation.
• Treatment Planning & Goal Setting (Novice): Demonstrates sufficient proficiency in developing a plan of care that incorporates treatment interventions focused on meeting objective goals. Develops and documents patient focused short and long term goals that are functional and measurable. Identifies the need for and referral to other services, as needed.

- Performs pre-anesthesia functions including: determining that an appropriate pre-anesthetic examination has been made by a physician; insuring that relevant tests have been completed and a thorough assessment of the patient has been performed; reviewing the patient's condition immediately prior to the induction of an anesthesia; checking the readiness, availability, cleanliness, sterility when required and working conditions of all the equipment used in the administration of anesthetic agents prior to administering anesthesia.
- Performs post-anesthesia duties including: remaining with the patient until it is safe to transfer responsibility for care to other qualified individuals; advising personnel responsible for post-anesthetic care of specific problems presented by the patient's condition; administering post-operative epidural pain relief and other post-operative analgesia in collaboration with the surgeon and making post-anesthetic visits regarding the presence or absence of anesthesia related complications.
- Responsible for narcotic accounting and distribution.
- Responds to life threatening, Code Blue/Code 4 and respiratory emergencies if available by establishing and maintaining an airway under the direction of a physician. Assists nursing units with difficult intravenous (IV) insertions when requested, when available and when attempts by other professionals have been unsuccessful.
- May administers anesthesia under the supervision of the operating surgeon.
- May provides labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center.
- Maintains knowledge of scientific theory, research findings, current practice and applicable standards.
- May participate in departmental improvement processes and ASC processes when appropriate.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- May act as a clinical and/or didactic instructor for student nurse anesthesia students.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and
- Nurse Anesthetist certification (CRNA) issued by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and
- Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration, and
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, and
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required, or
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Education Required:
- Master's Degree in Nursing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Must be able to fulfill department schedule needs, which may include 24/7 call and weekend coverage, as needed.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Must have functional vision and hearing.
- Must be able to:
- - Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
- - Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
- - Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to:
- - Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
- - Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
- Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Will be exposed to the following hazards on a continuous basis: mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluids.
- Will be required to wear gloves, goggles and gowns on an as-needed basis.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shift.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
