Summary:
Determines and verifies insurance coverage and coordination of insurance benefits from all sources. Requests and/or verifies authorizations for ordered services. Schedule and/or reschedule physician orders for outpatient treatments and/or diagnostic services. Discuss financial responsibilities for upcoming appointments with patient and/or guarantor. Collect upfront payments and/or review for financial assistance. Handles inbound and/or outbound calls related to the above functions.
Responsibilities:
Communicates with patients and practitioners regarding order, insurance and/or authorization issues.Inputs and/or reviews insurance benefits for the patient account. Re-runs estimates when needed to correct expected patient out of pocket liability for that service.Reviews order for appropriate authorizing signature and accuracy of scheduled service(s).Handles inbound and/or outbound calls to perform all pre-service functions included but not limited to scheduling, authorizations, benefits, and patient responsibilities. Documents appropriate record with the details of the call and the call disposition.Confirms insurance coverage. Determines necessity for pre-authorization and obtains authorization for that service(s). Documents authorization information within the patient account.Notifies patient of their financial responsibility for services to be provided. Educates guarantor about their out of pocket responsibility for the service and collects pre-service payments in accordance with available financial options. Ensures compliance with departmental procedures for payment. Document details of the call and notate any collections that need to be performed at time of registration.Updates patient insurance information into the patient record as needed to ensure correct billing and net revenue estimation occurs.

Summary:
Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and other related technical and clinical support activities.
Responsibilities:

About the job:
The Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for implementation, monitor and appropriate documentation of all regulatory agency (i.e. ODHHS, ODM, OIG) and other Mount Carmel Health System requirements related to credentialing of Mount Carmel Health Partners. Administrative functions include primary source verification of credentialing applications to include critical analysis of a provider's competence through assessment education and specific training. The Behavioral Patient Navigator serves as a non-clinical member of the interdisciplinary care team supporting psychiatric and behavioral health patients throughout their healthcare journey. The role provides behavioral triage support, therapeutic communication, motivational interviewing, patient engagement, care coordination, behavioral and psychiatric resource navigation, and linkage to appropriate services. The Patient Navigator assists patients with overcoming barriers related to treatment adherence, appointments, medication routines, behavioral health follow-up, and engagement with their established plan of care while promoting individualized, patient-centered care and recovery.
The Behavioral Patient Navigator works closely with licensed behavioral health providers, psychiatrists, social workers, case managers, community partners, Nursing, and Utilization Management to facilitate timely access to care, support care transitions, and promote continuity of care. This is a non-clinical role and does not provide clinical assessments, diagnoses, therapy, or medical advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach and maintain regular contact with behavioral health and psychiatric patients.
- Provide non-clinical behavioral health triage and escalate urgent or high-risk concerns to licensed clinicians.
- Use therapeutic communication and motivational interviewing techniques to support patient engagement, treatment adherence, and behavioral goals.
- Assist patients with navigating appointments, referrals, behavioral health services, and community resources.
