Job Description:
The LPN, under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified health care professional, participates in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice.
Shift: Night Shift
Scope
- Performs basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.
- May provide specialized nursing care specific to the practice area.
- Collects patient data, including vital signs, observations of patient condition, and responses to treatment, and reports findings appropriately.
- Prepares and administers injections, performs routine tests, treats wounds, and changes dressings.
- Maintains accurate patient records using established documentation practices and electronic medical record systems.
- Administers medications within the scope of licensure and monitors patient responses to treatment.
- Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and applicable federal and state regulations.
- Monitors and documents treatment progress and patient outcomes.
- Educates patients and families regarding health conditions, treatment plans, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic illnesses.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.
- Performs IV therapy, blood draws, laboratory testing, and related documentation as permitted by licensure and certification.
- Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health and adheres to service excellence standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing program.
- Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the applicable state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, as required by the position.
- Additional specialty certifications may be required based on the department or specialty area.
- IV certification may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a clinical or ambulatory care setting.
- Strong communication, organizational, and patient-care skills.
- Experience working within an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and -Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and -Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Interacts in a positive, professional manner with patients, visitors and staff. Communicates clearly and professionally to promote both work efforts and problem resolution. Works in conjunction with the Patient Services, Catering, Retail Services and Production staff as part of a team ensuring each delivery is accurately prepared, and on time.
- Follows through with resolving problems as they arise and provides leadership with a full report when issues are identified.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepares and serves simple food items as directed by production sheet or menu.
- Delivers trays with accuracy and efficiency to designated locations to achieve established time frame for room service or traditional service meal delivery. Assists with assembling of trays on tray-line as needed. Works in the dish room as assigned.
- Transports pantry supplies, garbage, cardboard, and supplies to designated areas. Maintains clean, orderly storage areas with all food items.
- Retrieves soiled trays, returns carts in a timely manner to appropriate location.
- Performs patient tray setup and ensures all supplies stocked for patient tray line each meal period.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follows proper procedure in loading and transporting of food delivery carts to prevent spillage and delay of meal delivery to the patient. Accurately maintains food cart delivery log.
- Ensures food served is presented attractively and is held at the proper temperature. Follows all relevant local Food Ordinances including but not limited to, labeling and dating food properly to ensure freshness, properly rotates food items, and ensures all food beyond the expiration date is discarded. Ensures the service area is clean and sanitized.
- Follows the menu paying close attention to details. Reviews menus in advance to ensure supplies are in-house. Utilizes down time for preparation of setups to ensure menus are ready at the specified time.

- Minimizes food waste through portion control and ensures proper use and storage of food, supplies, and equipment to reduce departmental cost and expenses.

Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital opened in June 2017. This 725,000-square-foot, full-service, acute-care hospital offers many of the same services as our flagship hospital in the Texas Medical Center. In January 2022, Houston Methodist The Woodlands opened Healing Tower — a $250 million expansion project that added 106 beds, focused on medical-surgical and women’s services, and provided nine operating rooms. The project also included the expansion of the endoscopy center, emergency department and diagnostic imaging department with an enhanced neurodiagnostic and interventional center.

Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Certified Respiratory Therapist performs respiratory care interventions in accordance with the standards established by the American Association of Respiratory Care Clinical Practice Guidelines and OMC Respiratory Care Policy. Under the supervision of the Director/Supervisor and upon a physician's order, the Certified Respiratory Therapist assesses the cardiopulmonary status of patients of all ages (neonate through geriatric) and provides various types of respiratory diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, based on individual patient needs. An integral function of this position is providing patient education to enhance wellness.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

Performs initial and follow-up assessments pertaining to respiratory care with skill. Physician(s) agrees with assessment and recommended plan of care and/or recommended change(s) in plan of care.
Evaluate patient's response to prescribed therapy in an on-going manner and communicates information, as needed to medical staff. Demonstrates expertise in selecting and/or adapting equipment that is appropriate for patient's age - neonate to geriatric.
Consistently incorporates patient education regarding common lung diseases, prescribed medications and plan of care into routine patient care and treatment. Consistently follows departmental policy and procedure regarding all phases of the blood gas analysis process: pre-analytical, puncture/specimen collection, analytical phase and post-analytical/results reporting phase. Demonstrates expertise, skill and concern for patient comfort and safety throughout the blood gas analysis process.
Demonstrates expertise in implementing, assessing results and acting appropriately on results of various pulmonary diagnostic tests and monitors. Accurately evaluates the pulmonary status of patients assessed by capnography, spirometry, blood gas analysis, hemodynamic monitoring and pulse oximetry. Serves as a resource to other members of the health care team regarding use of these monitors and assessment of results.
Demonstrates proficiency in assisting physician with therapeutic and basic diagnostic bronchoscopies. Appropriately assesses patient's cardiopulmonary status throughout the procedure, intervening with proficiency and expertise to optimize patient's comfort, safety and optimal outcome. Performs high-level disinfection of bronchoscope and related equipment as soon as possible following procedure, demonstrating attention to detail and strict adherence to policy.

1. Principal Accountabilities
- Accountable for overseeing the operations of the Trauma department.
- Monitors the quality of patient care delivered throughout the patient’s hospitalization.
- Collaborates with hospital unit leadership to develop performance improvement projects and education as needs are identified.
- Collaborates with the facility’s Trauma Service to ensure successful case reviews at the multidisciplinary level designed to improve the quality of trauma care.
- Ensures designation and/or verification requirements stipulated by the Texas Department of State Health Services and the American College of Surgeon are achieved or maintained.
- Collaborates with leaders to develop corrective action plan if gaps are identified and communicates the deficiencies and action plan to upper administration.
- Oversees and participates in community outreach and trauma injury prevention.
- Demonstrates evidence of participation in trauma committees at the Memorial Hermann System level and the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council level. Participation in state and national trauma organizations is strongly encouraged.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

This entry-level role ensures safe and effective care during procedures such as Colonoscopy, Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Tracheostomy/Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) Placement, Enteroscopy, basic Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT), Food Impaction Removal, Bravo Capsule Placement, and EndoFLIP. Not only will you answer some of our more than 6,000 annual calls, serving patients in a 500 square mile radius, you'll also learn advanced assessments and how treatments work to sharpen your skills as a Paramedic, administer more advanced medications, learn lab values, CTs, X-rays and more. Partner with doctors, nurses, imaging techs and other team members to truly care for our patients. Respond to 911 calls and Paramedic intercept to provide advance pre-hospital care in our two Paramedic system with comprehensive orientation. Major Responsibilities:
- Provides basic and advanced life support to the ambulance patient.

Ensures that assigned areas are clean, straight and in compliance with fire and safety hazards before leaving at the end of each shift. Maintains constant surveillance of assigned areas to ensure patient safety including visual patient checks, room checks and unit checks. Will stock supplies and carry out general housekeeping tasks as assigned.
- Participates in regulatory activities or duties (e.g., chart checks/audits, fridge temps, committees for improvement and other quality-oriented tasks). Reports and addresses real or potential problems with quality and appropriateness of care through the use of event reports, or other appropriate means. Follows appropriate chain of command regarding issues in a timely manner.
- Responsible for patient safety and the overall management of patient behavior on the behavioral health units. Has the ability to work with physically and mentally aggressive patients by anticipating and diffusing situations, which might lead to disruptive behaviors. Performs appropriately in emergency situations. Responds efficiently and calmly, securing qualified assistance as needed. Recognizes critical situations and identifies options to manage crisis using sound judgment and problem-solving skills to prevent escalation of the situation or injury to client/staff. Strictly adheres to behavioral health policy standards regarding the use of seclusion and restraint.
- Completes all mandatory and required education assignments in a timely manner. Demonstrates clinical proficiency and competency for age groups served. Treats patients and families with care and respect. Maintains corporate/department standards regarding compliance and confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
Preferred Qualifications
- CNA or EMT
- Post high school education in social work, psychology, sociology, family studies, or a health sciences field
- Experience working with psychiatric and/or chemically dependent patients.
- Experience providing behavioral healthcare services care to patient populations
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employees to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employees to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Expected to participate in the physical management of high-risk patient behaviors.
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
