Summary:
The Vice President of Operations serves as a member of the Memorial Hospital Pembroke (MHP) Administrative team and assists with leading direction and strategic planning to achieve the organization's mission, directives, and goals. This role is responsible for the overall administration of assigned clinical, ancillary and support departments. The VP Operations ensures the formulation and completion of departmental goals and objectives that are consistent with the overall institutional mission and vision and the Memorial Experience.Responsibilities:
Translates hospital and health system strategy into operational priorities, measurable goals, and actionable plans, driving accountability for execution and results.
Leads major hospital-wide initiatives, capital planning, growth strategies, service enhancements, and operational improvements from planning through implementation and sustained performance.
Participates in the development and implementation of the Hospitals plan for providing ancillary and support services to all patient populations served. Participates in Safety, Quality and Service initiatives. Assists in assuring that MHPs plan is consistent with Hospital District goals and objectives, mission and vision. Ensures mechanism to initiate appropriate organizational change and measure effectiveness of changes as related to Hospital District goals and objectives.
Leads and develops hospital leaders, strengthens workforce engagement, and promotes a culture of collaboration, accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Partners with clinical and physician leaders to advance quality, patient safety, patient experience, access, throughput, capacity management, and overall operational performance.
Provides executive leadership and oversight of hospital operations, ensuring effective coordination, integration, and performance across assigned clinical and non-clinical functions.
Ensures hospital-wide and specifically department compliance with accrediting agencies, federal, state and local regulatory agency standards.
Ensures assigned clinical, ancillary and support MHP departments provide high-quality healthcare services as measured by customer satisfaction levels, outcome measures, and accrediting regulatory agencies. Develops meaningful written departmental objectives and policies and achieves such objectives within the established timeframe. Departments operate in an interdisciplinary team fashion to provide patient-focused care.
Drives financial stewardship through effective budget management, productivity, resource utilization, expense management, and identification of operational efficiencies.

Required Work Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressive healthcare leadership experience, including significant leadership experience within an acute care hospital environment. Demonstrated experience leading multiple operational functions, managing complex cross-functional initiatives, improving organizational performance, and partnering with physicians and clinical leaders required is required.

Pay Range: $18.10 - $22.15
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
SITE SECURITY:
• Performs interior/exterior building and ground patrols to prevent fire, theft, misuse and vandalism of property, inspects doors, windows and locks to determine level of security.
• Secures or unlocks facility doors/entrances at specified times.
• Inspects all elevators and interior fire escape stairwells reporting any identified discrepancies to the Plant Operations and Maintenance Department personnel.
• Monitors surveillance equipment, inspects buildings, equipment, garages and access points and prevents losses and damages by reporting irregularities.
• Observes and assesses behavior while on patrol to deter incidents and ensure activity is not detrimental to the organization.
• Responds to emergency codes, fire drills and alarms.
• Provides security education and may conduct fire drills for the Safety Department.
EMERGENT SITUATIONS:
• Responds to all emergency calls for assistance to control: disorderly conduct or combative patients, potential and/or actual infant or child patient abductions, bomb threats or reports of suspicious packages, evacuation incidents, and/or chemical spills, for crowd control purposes.
• Removes and/or restrains individual(s) to a secure location and if needed calls local authorities.
• Documents in detail observations, information, occurrences and witness statements.
• Assists with local authorities such as the police and fire department when needed.
INCIDENT REPORTING:
• Reports unusual circumstances to the Lead Security Officer/Manager, and documents utilizing appropriate Security Incident Report (IR)
• Completes accurate, clear and legible Security Incident Reports, documenting all steps and results.
• Prepares daily incident, traffic, parking citations, work orders and inspection reports as they pertain to the scope and purposes of safety and security.
CUSTOMER SERICES:
• Provides assistance and information to patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, students and staff in order to maintain their safety, security and good public relations.
• Acts as first point of contact regarding security assistance for staff and visitors.
• Assists staff and visitors with lost and found items.
• Answers general questions related to the property or security policies and procedures.
• Identifies individuals with special needs and provides appropriate assistance.
SECURITY OFFICERS ASSIGNED TO ACUTE FACILITIES:
• Provides a security presence within the ED for individuals, hospital personnel, County mental health personnel and the general public.
• Accepts individuals who are on a 5150 hold from law enforcement officers and works with law enforcement to ensure that the individual is settled into the facility and appears to be relatively stable prior to releasing the law enforcement officer to other duties.
• Assist to ensure the continued safety of patients, staff and visitors.
• The Security Services staff shall primarily use verbal intervention skills to achieve this goal, but may use physical restraint, if necessary.

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
1 year recent relevant experience
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
General knowledge of the usual duty requirements of a security officer with an emphasis on the physical and emotional maturity required for the high degree of judgment and diplomacy necessary to work efficiently in a healthcare environment.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to write incident reports and read business correspondence and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Schedule: Full-Time, 40 Hours- Day Shift
Position Purpose:
According to established procedures, performs repetitive cleaning tasks in order to maintain assigned Hospital area in an orderly and sanitary condition. In doing so, moves furniture, equipment and supplies in and around Hospital departments, and performs a variety of heavy and light housekeeping duties. Utilizes Seven-Step cleaning, dry and wet mops floors, strips and buffs floors, shampoos carpets and removes stains from floors, walls, furniture, and the like.
What you will do:
- Receives cleaning assignments, requests cleaning materials and supplies such as mops, buckets, electric buffer, vacuum cleaner, rags, disinfectants, and the like from designated areas. Mixes cleaning solutions, loads service cart and transports same to work areas
- Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings, tile, fixtures and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions. Scours and polishes sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, and the like.
- Upon dismissal of patients, strips, cleans and makes beds with fresh linens, cleans other furniture and disposes of refuse by emptying wastebaskets. Restocks supplies of soap, tissues, towels, and other disposable items.
- Sweeps and mops limited floor areas such as patient rooms and Hospital offices. Vacuums carpets using light vacuum, spot cleans carpets using appropriate solutions and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly manner after cleaning assigned areas. Dry and wet mops large areas of floors, and operates buffing equipment.
- Cleans and performs routine maintenance on sanitation equipment and notifies supervisor of equipment needing further repair.
- Visually inspects area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleanliness and neatness have been achieved.
- Returns unused supplies to utility room, cleans carts and equipment and ensures items are stored in an orderly manner.
- Performs heavy‑duty cleaning of floors and carpets. In doing so, removes soil and finish of floors by using mechanical stripping equipment and shampoos carpeted floors by operating mechanical shampooing equipment.
- Washes, scrubs and disinfects walls, windows and doors and, when necessary, determines method of removing stains using a variety of cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Gathers refuse from various Hospital locations and transports same in hand pushed cart to compactor or holding area. Following established sanitation procedures segregates bagged refuse and loads into compactor or holding area.
- Moves furniture and equipment (such as mattresses, beds, and cribs) by use of handcarts or dollies.
Working Conditions:
- Requires working with equipment or performing procedures where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises or muscle pulls.
- May be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at times such as masks, eye protection, ear protection, gloves and gowns.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be able to read, write, and comprehend basic written instructions in English. Must also be able to comprehend verbal instructions and speak/reply in English.
- 3+ months of cleaning experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Work requires the analytical ability to read and understand instructions, add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters. Must be able to safely move, lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs. individually.
- Requires working with cleaning chemicals and products in a safe manner.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motions such as sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and other motions involved in the cleaning process.
- Floorcare Experience preferred.
