Job Description:
The Behavioral Health Technician, under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified healthcare professional, participates in patient care as a member of a coordinated multi-disciplinary treatment team. This position provides direct patient care by developing rapport with the patients and facilitating the therapeutic milieu.
Essential Functions
- Assist patients with daily living tasks, performs, and accurately documents delegated patient care procedures, treatments, observations, groups/education, etc. and in a timely manner. May monitor patient vital signs and provide limited medical intervention under the directions of a healthcare professional
- Orients patients to the Behavioral Health unit or program, inventory belongings, may give appropriate supplies and testing, and may transport patients to appropriate appointments, units or activities.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal relations and communication skills with co-workers, patients, families, and other personnel involved with patient care. Reports changes in the patient's condition to the applicable clinical staff. May assist in mentoring and orientation of staff members and students. Takes initiative to maintain the work environment and guide others to resolving problems/issues.
- Maintains a safe, consistent and supportive environment by providing care in accordance with the multidisciplinary treatment plan using established behavioral interventions and programs to meet patient care needs. Ensures that assigned areas are clean, straight and in compliance with fire and safety hazards before leaving at the end of each shift. Maintains constant surveillance of assigned areas to ensure patient safety including visual patient checks, room checks and unit checks. Will stock supplies and carry out general housekeeping tasks as assigned.
- Participates in regulatory activities or duties (e.g., chart checks/audits, fridge temps, committees for improvement and other quality-oriented tasks). Reports and addresses real or potential problems with quality and appropriateness of care through the use of event reports, or other appropriate means. Follows appropriate chain of command regarding issues in a timely manner.
- Responsible for patient safety and the overall management of patient behavior on the behavioral health units. Has the ability to work with physically and mentally aggressive patients by anticipating and diffusing situations, which might lead to disruptive behaviors. Performs appropriately in emergency situations. Responds efficiently and calmly, securing qualified assistance as needed. Recognizes critical situations and identifies options to manage crisis using sound judgment and problem-solving skills to prevent escalation of the situation or injury to client/staff. Strictly adheres to behavioral health policy standards regarding the use of seclusion and restraint.
- Completes all mandatory and required education assignments in a timely manner. Demonstrates clinical proficiency and competency for age groups served. Treats patients and families with care and respect. Maintains corporate/department standards regarding compliance and confidentiality.
- Will assist in facilitating various skills, relaxation, and psycho-educational groups using knowledge of group dynamics and organizational skills to achieve treatment plan goals.

Minimum Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
Preferred Qualifications
- CNA or EMT
- Post high school education in social work, psychology, sociology, family studies, or a health sciences field
- Experience working with psychiatric and/or chemically dependent patients.
- Experience providing behavioral healthcare services care to patient populations
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employees to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employees to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Expected to participate in the physical management of high-risk patient behaviors.
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

Maintain all assigned O.R. suites, ancillary areas, department areas, and clinic areas and corridors with the correct preventative maintenance procedures as outlined in department policy as requested. 1)Operates various equipment following department procedures. 2)Uses chemicals and solution following department policy. 3)Keeps work are in an orderly, clean and safe condition. Use appropriate procedures following OR room turnover. 1)Thoroughly sanitizes OR bed for turnover and makes beds with clean linen in accordance with department procedures. 2)Thoroughly sanitizes entire OR for turnover, utilizing established department guidelines and productivity measures. 3)Use appropriates germicide in disinfeting rooms. Performs hard surface floor and carpet care in all assigned areas following appropriate departmental procedures. 1)Identifies types of soiling and/or spotting and utilizes proper solutions as outlined in department policy and procedures with no documented incidents of misuse. 2)Handles chemicals and solutions following department policy. 3)Ensures that all chemicals and solutions are in properly labeled containers. 4)Adheres to safety regulations as outlined in department policy and procedures. Job Summary
Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital is growing!A new satellite pharmacy is opening in 2027 to support our new 52 bed Heart Center ICU/IMU team!
We are adding 3 Fulltime Pharmacists on day shift.
Schedule will be 7 to 3:30 p.m.
Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred. Pediatric hospital experience is highly desired.
Experience with IV compounding a plus.
Must have current Texas Pharmacy license and hold IV Certification.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy
Licenses/Certifications: Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Texas; Pharmacy Sterile Product certification through an in-house program or other accredited program is required if incumbent compounds sterile products.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Two (2) years of experience as a hospital Pharmacist (or at discretion of System Executive, System Pharmacy) with knowledge of the unit dose medication and I.V. admixture processes
Principal Accountabilities
Fills and labels prescriptions, and provides drug-related information and education for in-patients, out-patients, hospital employees and medical staff.
Dispenses controlled substances and maintains appropriate inventory records.
Supervises the activities of the pharmacy technical staff and Mentors or trains pharmacists, pharmacy students or residents.
Participates in the Medication Use Evaluation Program and the Process Improvement Program.
Maintains medication profiles, reviews profiles for drug related problems, and provides consultation on drug research.
Maintains the scheduling and preparation of I.V. solutions and additives.
Initiates reports of medication errors or adverse drug interactions.
Assumes full responsibility for department management in the absence of the Pharmacy Manager or Lead Pharmacist.
Works with other professionals to generate newsletters. Drafts policies or procedures for review by Pharmacy Director.
Performs clinical interventions, which may include medication profile review, IV to oral conversion, renal dosing adjustment, antimicrobial streamlining, patient counseling, obtaining medication histories, vancomycin/aminoglycoside dosing, therapeutic drug monitoring, and participation in multidisciplinary rounds.
Documents clinical interventions.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

Performs a variety of duties involving the transportation of patients throughout the hospital. Assists nursing staff in the physical, lateral transfer of patients before and after patient transport. 2. Assists nursing staff and/or lift tech in moving and positioning of patients using various lift devices in preparation of patient for transport and returning patient to bed. Includes lateral transfer of patients on precaution status that requires Patient Transporter to use personal protection equipment and to follow infection control process per precaution isolation-type.
3. Delivers stretchers, beds, cribs and wheelchairs as needed. Assists in deep-cleaning of all transport equipment on a biannual basis. Sanitizes transport vehicles and ancillary equipment between patient use.
4. Transports patient specimens to and from the Lab, Pathology, and blood products to/from the Blood Bank in accordance with established infection control guidelines. Transports contaminated equipment to Sterile Processing within same infection control guidelines.
5. Delivers other materials such as medical records, pharmaceuticals, X-ray films, sterile items, and miscellaneous reports and items as required.
6. Checks E-cylinders (portable O2 tanks) for content; distributes/exchanges E-cylinders throughout the hospital.
7. Interacts with a web-based dispatch system TDSS via alpha paging for job assignment; maintains individual Transporter Trip Log and other statistical records as required.
8. May participate in Emergency Department triage transport assignment during disaster situations including CODE HELP, assist in transport of trauma patients and transport of deceased victims to the morgue. Guides and assists patients through decontamination unit.
9. May assume the role of a dispatcher if trained and as directed.

Intermountain has a strong, well-established Teleneuroscience program. Since 2014, the Teleneurohospitalist team has provided Telestroke and inpatient neurology consults. Additionally, the tele program aligns closely with our Virtual Hospital subspeciality portfolio, which offers all types of specialty care across the system. In effect, this ensures patients can stay locally in their community with the necessary specialist care.
Telehealth shifts may be worked from our virtual hospital building located near Salt Lake City, UT, or may be worked from home. In-person shifts would be worked from Intermountain Medical Center (IMED), Intermountain Health’s flagship hospital, based near Salt Lake City, Utah. IMED is a Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level 1 Trauma Center, Level 4 Epilepsy Center, Joint Commission Certified Spine Center. IMED is ranked as a top hospital by U.S. News and World Reports, 5-star CMS ranking, and Leapfrog grade A. There is no concurrent telehealth work during in-person shifts.
In this role, you can anticipate:
- Providing 24/7 Tele-Neurohospitalist services, or in-person neurohospitalist services
- 1.0 FTE is 2,080 hours per year, spilt up into 12-hour day/night shifts, and swing shifts (approximately 15 shifts/month)
- Mix of days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Position provides telehealth (stroke, inpatient neurology consults) support to the Intermountain hospitals and several outreach sites in Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Alaska
- Neurohospitalist positions are a part of our larger Neuroscience Institute group which includes Neuro Critical Care physicians, Epileptologists, Neurosurgeons, outpatient Neurologists, Neuro and Spine PM&R physicians, Neuro Psychologists and Psychiatrists
- The neurohospitalist team works closely with the neuro-intensivists team who cover the neurocritical care unit, as well as tele-neurocritical care consults throughout the system.

What you’ll bring:
- U.S. ACGME Neurology Residency
- Optimally - completion of vascular neurology (stroke) or neurohospitalist fellowship
- Optimally - experience in Telehealth and telestroke practice (i.e. familiarity with video telemedicine interface)
- Board Certified/Eligible in neurology
- Unrestricted MD or DO license or the ability to obtain an unrestricted license, in the following states: UT, CO, NV, AZ, MT, ID, WY, and AK
- Eligible for Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
- BLS certification and DEA
- Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process
