We are looking to hire a Surgical Technician. The Surgical Technician functions in the scrub role during intraoperative patient care, doing so as a delegated technical function under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. The provision of care is consistent through adherence to standards and support of the philosophies of Genesis Medical Center.
Schedule:
- Full-time, 32 hours per week
- Shift: Days 9am - 5:30pm
- On call rotation will be required for nights, weekends, and holidays
General Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology; completion of surgical tech apprenticeship or military program.
- Or graduate of an LPN program with Surgical experience; or equivalent experience to demonstrate competency.
- CST certification preferred but not required in Iowa. CST certification is required within 18-months of hire, if working in Illinois. LPN license is required if you are a graduate of an LPN program.
- No prior experience is required.
- BLS. Mandatory Reporter.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people; ability to work under pressure and with a large degree of independence and accountability; and the ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control or planning of an activity.
- Adaptability to performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.

Where You Will Work:
Davie Medical Center ED is a 23-bed community hospital emergency department providing comprehensive patient care to a variety of illnesses and injuries. DMC ED is equipped to perform diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, CT, US and MRI as well as laboratory studies. The emergency department receives patients from the local county EMS as well as surrounding counties 24/7. Patients requiring critical care or surgical intervention are stabilized at Davie then transferred to a tertiary care center.
Expectations We’re Looking For:
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS are required within 6 months of hire
- 2 years of ED experience preferred

About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicatedHome Care Aideto provide paraprofessional services to our home care clients. This role supports the care plan developed by the primary nurse and prescribed by the physician, in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personal care services such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility assistance.
- Assist with household tasks including meal preparation, light housekeeping, and laundry.
- Monitor and record vital signs as directed.

- Use safety equipment appropriately to ensure client well-being.

Major Responsibilities:
- Provides security services with a customer-service approach, focusing on professionalism, fairness, and compassion even in challenging circumstances and in accordance with policies, procedures, and training.

- Performs routine responsibilities during interior and exterior patrols to ensure safety and security, including but not limited to inspections to identify vulnerabilities, hazards, and fire conditions, audits of Interim Life Safety Measures, patient valuables management, and thorough contraband searches. Assists team members, patients, and visitors by providing information, directions, and physical help. As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity, including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members. Essential Functions:
1. Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.
- Makes an initial assessment of new admissions within 30 minutes of the patient’s arrival to the unit.
- Completes all areas of the admission assessment database within 24 hours of admission.
2. Identifies patient problems and develops them into an outcome/goal-based plan of care.
- Initiates the patient problem list and incorporates relevant medical history into the plan of care.
- Analyzes and interprets the assessment data to identify desired patient outcomes/goals.
- Determines nursing interventions to achieve those outcomes/goals.
- Prioritizes patient care needs/ activities.
- Identifies and makes appropriate referrals (i.e., Patient/Family Services, Nutritional Services, Spiritual Care, Diabetic Educator, etc.), and education needs.
- Collaborates with other health care disciplines to plan interventions/ patient outcomes/goals.
3. Implements the outcome/goal- based plan of care.
- Assigns and coordinates patient care incorporating patient acuity and the skills, knowledge and abilities of the team members.

4. Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal-based plan as needed.
- Evaluates patient response(s) to interventions.
- Review/modifies/revises the outcome-based plan of care based on ongoing reassessments.
- Updates the problem list and outcomes/goals.
5. Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals.
- Communicates relevant clinical information to physicians regarding the patient’s condition.
- Reports progress toward outcomes/goals and/or changes in condition to other health team members.
- Maintains ongoing communication with interdisciplinary team members throughout the shift, at shift change, and transfer of care.
- Communicates with other team leaders and members throughout the shift to reassess and prioritize the needs of the unit.
- Documents completely, comprehensively and legibly and in accordance with policy.
6. Demonstrates clinical competence.
- Utilizes Patient Care Policies and Procedure as references to guide nursing practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

$19.80 - $29.70Major Responsibilities:
- Greets patients arriving for their appointments. Monitors patient flow to ensure patients are cared for in the most efficient and courteous manner.
- Ensures all patient demographic and insurance information is complete and accurate
- Completes the registration process on walk-in patients, verifies and / or updates patient demographic and insurance information if changes or additions have occurred
- insurance benefits. Obtains, calculates and collects the patient’s out of pocket financial liability. Requests and collects past due and present balances or estimates due
- Follows the Financial Clearance policy for non-urgent patient services if financial clearance has not been completed or authorization has not been obtained, when appropriate
- patients in need of financial assistance and refers patients to Financial Counselor
- Performs visit closure, including but not limited to checking out patients, scheduling follow-up appointment(s), collecting additional patient responsibility (when applicable) and providing patient with appropriate documents.
- Maintains knowledge of and reference materials of the following: Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payer requirements, guidelines and policies, insurance plans requiring pre-authorization/referral and a list of current accepted insurance plans.
- Proactively communicates issues involving customer service and process improvement opportunities to management
- Meets productivity requirements to ensure excellent service is provided to customers
- Meets or exceeds performance expectations of 98% accuracy rate and established department productivity measurements.
- Maintains excellent public relations with patients, families, and clinical staff as well as demonstrates a willingness and ability to work collaboratively with others for concise and timely flow of information

- High school diploma or GED required. Patient access (scheduling, registration and financial clearance), insurance verification, billing or certified medical assistant experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Ability to identify and understand issues and problems. Examines data and draws logical conclusions based on information available
- Knowledge and ability to articulate explanations of Medicare, HIPAA, and EMTALA rules and regulations and comply with updates on insurance pre-certification requirements
- Mathematical aptitude, effective oral and written communication skills and critical thinking skills
- Understanding of basic human anatomy, medical terminology and procedures for application in the patient referral, pre-certification and authorization processes.
- Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization; presents a pleasant, professional demeanor and image during telephone conversation
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information according to internal policies
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and ADT software
- Ability to write routine correspondence, calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, to problem solve in a high profile and high stress area and interact positively with all internal and external customers while possessing the ability to determine priority of work
