Organization:
ABSMC-Ashby CampusPosition Overview:
Responsible for preparing the sterile field for surgical operations including the setup of sterile instruments, assisting surgeons in gowning and gloving, and draping patients for surgery. Directly supports the surgical team during operations by passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, and anticipating surgeons' needs during course of surgery. Supports the functionality of the department by distributing supplies and performing equipment maintenance, testing, and setup as needed. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety to help deliver optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or may help orient other staff to the department.Job Description:
EDUCATION:
- HS Diploma or GED
- Other: Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (or has certification that evidences education)
- OR Military training as a scrub tech
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- Surgical Technician Certification (TS-C, CST, or NRST) is required to be eligible for incentive (if allowed per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for union represented employees)
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
- 1 year of recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- General knowledge of surgical tools, procedures, views, and equipment.
- Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
- Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
- Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
- General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
- Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.

Perform diagnostic testing to assist physicians and other healthcare professionals in the screening, diagnosis and treatment of patients. Use comprehensive knowledge to accurately perform and evaluate highly complex laboratory testing in an efficient manner. Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment and provide excellent customer service.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or Bachelor’s degree with specified number of science courses for MLS certification required.
- Certified medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists MLS(ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT) or equivalent within 12 months eligibility/graduation required. Equivalent certifications include Medical Technologist (MT (ASCP)) OR Clinical Laboratory Scientist certified by the National Credentialing Agency (CLS (NCA)) prior to 2004 or International certification and qualification: International Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCPi) required.
- Individuals who were certified beginning January 1, 2004 maintaining their certification by participation in the ASCP ---Board of Certification (BOC) Certification Maintenance Program (ASCP)CM required.
- Effective communication skills, initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Progressive, successful experience in clinical laboratory medicine preferred.

Emergency Department I Corbin, KY
Baptist Health Corbin Emergency Department (ED) is a Level IV Trauma Designated unit with 28 beds that provides comprehensive, around-the-clock care to patients of all ages. The department cares for a wide range of conditions, from non-emergent complaints to life-threatening illnesses and injuries. A dedicated split-flow area supports efficient evaluation and treatment of fast-track patients with lower acuity needs. Additionally, the ED includes a behavioral health intake area designed to safely assess and manage patients presenting with mental health and behavioral health concerns.
Professional caregiver working under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse. Responsible for providing assigned care according to scope of practice. Has adequate knowledge to approach patients of all age groups. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives
Description:
Assist with patient admission, orientation to room and safety features, and securing valuables.
Obtain vital signs, apply cardiac monitors, and perform EKG testing with proper lead placement.
Support nurses and providers in patient care, including transfers, discharges, splinting, and wound care.
Collect blood, urine, and other specimens following hospital policy.
Recognize and report abnormal heart rhythms or vital signs to the care team.
Maintain clean, stocked, and safe patient care areas; locate and manage equipment.
Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff to promote a positive environment.
Adhere to hospital policies, infection control, and safety standards while participating in required trainings.
Requirements:

BLS/ACLS
Glucometer Training
Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.
Data entry and computer experience and /or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.
Preferred (but not required):

Position Summary

Position Purpose:
Provides Planned Maintenance (PM), safety testing, repairs, calibration, installation, routine and emergency service to general diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment, as assigned by the Clinical Engineering (CE) Manager.

What the Biomedical Equipment Technician Will Do:
Performs PM procedures on multiple types of general and specialized clinical equipment.
Performs PM procedures using manufacturers' recommendations, standards or code requirements, as well as industry acceptable processes as guidelines.

What you'll do:

Provides technical support to the anesthesia providers and the surgical team.
Following proper procedures in setting up of transducers. Timeliness in providing required equipment. Following proper procedures in stocking, cleaning and disinfection of anesthesia carts and equipment.
Provide supplies and equipment as needed during surgical procedures to the anesthesia provider.
Completes the anesthesia turnover between cases not delaying the start of following procedures.

Requirements:
- High School Education completed

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
This position requires the ability to lift, carry, and maneuver patients and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. EMTs must frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach while providing emergency care, often in physically demanding and high-stress situations. Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are essential for operating medical equipment and performing life-saving procedures. Adequate visual and auditory acuity is necessary to assess patients and respond effectively to emergencies. The work environment varies widely and includes hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities, and outdoor or uncontrolled settings.
EMTs are regularly exposed to extreme temperatures, poor lighting, inclement weather, and potentially hazardous conditions. There is a high risk of exposure to blood, body fluids, and airborne pathogens, requiring strict adherence to OSHA and CDC infection control guidelines.
The role may involve irregular hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts. EMTs must remain calm, focused, and effective in emotionally charged and unpredictable environments.

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Endoscopy Technician I (ET I) supports basic, diagnostic and/or therapeutic endoscopic procedures at rural, community, large and trauma facilities. The ET I may be required to take independent call and assist with urgent or emergent cases.
This role contributes to system-wide Surgical Services initiatives and actively participates in the Endoscopy Team Safety Plan.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory/medical technology science or chemical, physical, biological, or equivalent. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. - Partners with internal and external resources to manage employee needs through effective day to day administration of ADA Accommodations, the Reasonable Suspicion Process, The Employee Assistance Program, The Kansas Nurse Assistance Program, etc.
- Partners with legal counsel and risk management to manage EEOC claims and lawsuits. Says abreast of current local, state and federal legislative changes and changes in employment laws, so as to administer effectively. Maintains HR Certification.
- Supports management through effective recommendations and administration of the corrective action process and provides guidance to management concerning employee performance improvement measures. Provides ongoing education, coaching and training. Partners with managers and directors to facilitate departmental restructures.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in related field of study from an accredited college or university. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- 4 or more years of previous experience as a fully functioning HR Generalist or in Employee Relations, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Heavy focus on workplace investigations and recommendation/administration of corrective action, performance improvement plans, preferably in a health care/hospital Human Resources department.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Human Resources or similar discipline.
- Prefer Labor Relations experience including handling grievances and working with union stewards and facilitating labor agreements.
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) - Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI)
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) - Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI)
