The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs routine and moderately complex laboratory testing to support diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions. Working under the supervision of the Medical Laboratory Scientist or Laboratory director, the MLT ensures accurate, timely, and reliable test results while maintaining compliance with CLIA and hospital quality standards.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Performs routine and moderate complexity testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, immunology, and transfusion services as permitted by CLIA regulations.
· Completes appropriate routing, handling, and processing of various medical specimens including blood, stool, sputum, throat cultures.
· Runs daily QC, evaluates results, documents corrective actions, and participates in proficiency testing.
· Operates, calibrates, and performs basic troubleshooting and maintenance on laboratory analyzers and equipment.
· Receives, labels, prepares, and processes specimens; ensures proper handling, storage, and routing; Interprets physician's orders and secures a requisition before performing test.
· Reviews results for accuracy, identifies abnormal or critical values, and follows established protocols for provider notification.
· Maintains accurate records, follows SOPs and adheres to CLIA, COLA and hospital safety standards.
· Performs venipuncture and capillary collections as assigned; provides professional, compassionate patient care.
· Works closely with MLS/MT staff, nursing, and providers to support efficient workflow and timely turnaround.
· Monitors reagent and supply levels; assist with ordering and stocking.
· Identifies workflow issues and contributes to quality and efficiency initiatives.
· Answer phones and questions presented by callers, Doctors, and Hospital Staff.
· Collect drug screens with a chain of custody (DOT and non-DOT); Performs Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) and completes associated Chain of Custody
· Collects paternity tests and properly completes associated chain of custody.
· Perform EKGs.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field required; prior clinical laboratory experience preferred; new graduates welcomed based on training capacity.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must be a national registered Medical Laboratory Technician, preferring three years’ experience in laboratory work. Continuing education on a regular basis. Must meet all guidelines required under CLIA 88. BLS certification and training required.

The Certified Surgical Technologist supports safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting surgeons and perioperative teams throughout surgical procedures. The CST ensures instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and functioning, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and contributes to positive patient outcomes through technical expertise and strong teamwork.

· Prepare operating rooms with appropriate instruments, equipment, supplies, and sterile setup according to surgeon preferences and procedure-specific requirements.
Verify functionality and sterility of instruments and equipment prior to procedure. Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment within scope of practice.
· Assist with patient positioning, prepping and draping patients for surgical procedures under RN direction.
Always maintain strict sterile techniques and aseptic practices. Monitor sterile field integrity and collaborate with the team to prevent breaks in sterility.
· Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs, passing instruments, sutures, and supplies efficiently.
· Handle specimens appropriately, ensuring accurate labeling and transport
· Assist with counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps according to policy.
· Clean, decontaminate, and prepare instruments for reprocessing.
· Restock rooms and ensure readiness for subsequent procedures.
· Document equipment issues and support quality and safety initiatives.
· Follows written procedures for steam sterilization; knows responsibilities and the necessity for chemical and biological monitoring
· Collaborate with surgeons, RNs, anesthesia providers, and support staff to ensure smooth surgical flow.
· Communicate clearly and respectfully in high-acuity environment.
· Participate in ongoing education, competencies, and performance improvement activities.
· Demonstrate reliability, accountability and adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
· Make decisions reflecting knowledge of facts and good judgment (assigned case and instruments and/or trays to be pulled for the procedure) within the Operating Room Technician’s scope of practice.
· Attends at least 75% of staff meetings annually, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.

Qualifications
· Must have a current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential. (NBSTSA or NCCT)
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
· Previous operating room experience preferred.

· Must be available to work two to three nights/days a week on call for emergency surgery services on a routine basis.

Position Highlights and Benefits:
- Schedule Information: This is a full-time benefited position working on day shift (4-10s: 7am-5:30pm or 3-12s: 7am-7:30pm). Department orientation typically features 5 8-hour shifts to start.
- On Call Requirements: Main OR CSTs are on-call for two to four 12-hour weekend call shifts every 6-week period and are required to meet a 30-minute response time if called in. Weekday call (Monday-Friday) is not required.

- Bachelor’s degree required, emphasis in medical technology or related science preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Medical Technologist or equivalent required.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Performs complex testing and resolves testing discrepancies independently.
- Accepts special projects delegated by the supervisor. Completes projects in the timeline expected.

- Correlates and interprets lab data based on knowledge of physiological conditions affecting testing results.
- Performs complex and specialized lab analysis requiring advanced skills, technical expertise, and a broad use of independent judgment.
- Performs complex instrument troubleshooting. Consults with instrument technical support if necessary.
- Delegates tasks to the appropriate personnel and follows through to see that they are accomplished.
- Functions in the role of a mentor and lead tech. Serves as the laboratory resource person for questions and problems.
- In crucial situations or downtimes, communicates laboratory status to the clinical coordinator. Is knowledgeable and prepared to take on duties during a disaster or disaster drill. Takes charge and delegates tasks as necessary. Is aware of the laboratory as a whole and direct staff in completing workload.
- Develops trust and teamwork with others, both inside and outside the laboratory.
- Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork among staff. Is encouraging and easy to approach.
- When scheduling conflicts and/or personnel call in sick, works to find coverage and/or shift changes to provide adequate staffing. Informs shifts/techs of schedule changes/staffing shortages.
- Acts as a positive role model in the lab. Actively supports lab decisions and encourages others.
- Establish department schedule for review by supervisor.
- Attend RHM meetings as assigned by the department supervisor.

What You Will Do:
Clean, inspect, and package surgical instruments, specialty sets and other re-usable instruments following all surgical procedures following regulations established by OSHA, The Joint Commission, and Saint Alphonsus.
Operate sterilization equipment including cart washer, washer disinfectors, steam sterilizers, other sterilizers, heat sealers, and Sterris machines.
Prepare surgical case carts and respond to requests for instrumentation and /or supplies for surgical procedures.Â
Order and restock the surgery department with supplies and instruments.
An ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and is a quick learner. You will also have an opportunity to work on your CRCST or CSPDT national certification.
Work Schedule:
8/40 - 8-hour shifts, Mondays - Fridays with occasional weekends.
Day shifts: 6:45 AM
Evening shift: 3:00 PM
Nigh Shift: 9:00 PM
Evening shift, night shift, and weekends receive an additional pay differential!
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Completion of CRCST or CSPDT certification preferred.
Prior experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Position Purpose:
Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho is seeking an Anesthesia Technicians to join the Surgical Services Department. Anesthesia Technicians provide anesthesia support services throughout medical center under the direct supervision of the anesthesiologist and manager. The Anesthesia Technician assists the anesthesia team prior to, during, and following patient procedures in various operating rooms across surgical services. Individuals in this position are proficient in the maintenance, packing, and resupplying of the most complex anesthesia supplies and equipment in the operating room, and when available, responds to codes with anesthesia.
The Anesthesia Technician checks and supplies anesthesia carts and machines, checks and replaces anesthesia gas tanks, disassembles used anesthesia equipment, disinfects machines and supply carts, replaces used products and prepares transducers for invasive hemodynamic monitoring. This position has significant patient contact while assisting in transport and procedures and works collaboratively with anesthesia, nursing staff, and off-site resources. In addition, the incumbent assists with the preparation of anesthesia supplies both preoperatively and post operatively by cleaning, maintaining, packaging, ordering, and inventorying of anesthesia supplies.

Schedule: Position will be scheduled for 20 hours a week. Schedule during the first 6 weeks of training is Monday through Friday from 5:45am to 2:15pm.

Ensures monitoring equipment and supplies are ready.
Ensures the anesthesia machine is ready for use including troubleshooting and correcting problems. May perform daily anesthesia equipment inspections including suction, electrical plugs, gas connections, oxygen and nitrous oxide cylinders.
May assist in positioning patients for procedures.
Assist in dressing and securing IVs and Arterial lines.
Assist Anesthesia during intubating and extubating procedures as directed.
Restock all used supplies as needed during a surgery.
