As an LVT at East Bay, you'll work closely with our veterinarians, Veterinary Assistants, and support staff while utilizing your technical skills in areas such as:
* Patient assessment, handling, and low-stress restraint
* Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
* In-house laboratory and diagnostic testing
* Radiology and diagnostic imaging
* Medication calculation, preparation, and administration
* Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and patient recovery
* Surgical preparation and assistance
* Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
* Pain assessment and patient comfort
* Technician appointments and outpatient treatments
* Client education and communication
* Accurate medical documentation
* Emergency triage and patient stabilization
* Patient advocacy and nursing care

Required Qualifications:
Education
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, or university in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science.
- May consider a bachelor’s degree in science with a combination of relevant work experience in a comparable laboratory setting. Proof of educational transcripts must be submitted at time of application.
Experience
- Relevant work experience in a medical laboratory is required if MLS/MT degree is not obtained.
Certification/Licensure
- Medical Technologist (MT)/Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) – ASCP, or NCLS certification preferred.

What you will do:
- Records and/or enters laboratory computer results of tests performed and advises supervisor spurious, unusual or highly abnormal results before release of results for reporting.
- Reports results of tests ordered stat and highly abnormal or unexpected results in a timely manner and according to established policies and procedures.
- Compares test results with previous patient test results when indicated, calling attention of supervisor or pathologist to unusual fluctuations.
- Performs required quality control and equipment maintenance and calibrates and operates laboratory equipment used in performance of the tests pertinent to the section) to which assigned.
- Notifies appropriate personnel of problems such as unacceptable specimens, equipment malfunctions, and quality control aberrations, in accordance with department policy on procedure.
- Prepares standards, reagents, and other materials used in testing.
- Contacts nursing unit or client office personnel regarding results and for clarification of requests and other routine problems which may arise.

Trinity Health Livonia Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Reprocessing/Endoscopy Technician to support our surgical and endoscopy services team. In this role, you will be responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments, endoscopy equipment, and sterile supplies to ensure the highest standards of patient safety and procedural readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments, endoscopes, and medical equipment following industry and regulatory standards.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, washers, and instrument tracking systems while maintaining accurate documentation.
- Assemble case carts and procedure trays based on surgical schedules and physician preference cards.
- Support Endoscopy and Operating Room teams by ensuring instruments, scopes, and supplies are available and properly processed.
- Perform quality checks on instrumentation, identify damaged equipment, and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Maintain inventory and distribute sterile supplies throughout multiple hospital departments.
- Assist with emergency cart readiness, equipment decontamination, and department workflow needs.
- Adhere to AORN, OSHA, AAMI, Joint Commission, and Trinity Health standards for infection prevention and patient safety.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Sterile Processing Technician certification preferred.
- Two years of Central Sterile Processing, Endoscopy, or Operating Room experience preferred.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques, decontamination procedures, surgical instrumentation, and aseptic practices.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience working with instrument tracking and hospital information systems.

POSITION PURPOSE
Provides Planned Maintenance (PM), safety testing, repairs, calibration, installation, routine and emergency service to general diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment, as assigned by the Clinical Engineering (CE) Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the mission, vision and core values of Trinity Health and the Ministry Organization in leadership behaviors, practices and decisions.
Performs PM procedures on multiple types of general and specialized clinical equipment.
Performs PM procedures using manufacturers' recommendations, standards or code requirements, as well as industry acceptable processes as guidelines.
Performs Corrective Maintenance (CM) procedures including diagnosing problems using thermodynamic, electronic/electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and/or other related sciences and documents results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory and standards requirements.
Notifies equipment users and Clinical Engineering Management of repair status and delays as necessary.
Interacts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems in scheduling and completing PM procedures while minimizing interference to hospital departments.
Determines need for replacement parts and supplies, selects the most cost effective source, and submits properly completed parts request using established policies and guidelines.
Completes corrective and planned maintenance work order documentation.
Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, works to accomplish team objectives and projects, and solicits feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member.
Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste.
Has authority (based on department guidelines) to order parts and supplies required for emergency service or repair of medical equipment. Recommends test equipment and spare equipment parts to the CE Manager or Lead Technician.
Provides on-call service coverage after normal business hours on a rotating basis, as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested by CE Manager.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associates of Applied Sciences degree in medical electronics, electronic technology or related field, including comparable military training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
One to two-years experience performing corrective and planned maintenance on medical equipment per policy.
Must have a basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Working knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the field. Ability to train CE associates on use and application of select test equipment.
Must have knowledge and understanding of OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, EOC, FDA and other specific regulations and standards pertaining to clinical equipment service and repair.
Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Trinity Health, Ministry Organizations, and Clinical Engineering.
Must have basic understanding of personal computer operation, applications, and ability to input data using keyboard. Technician must be able to follow complex written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken.

9. Assists in training new employees and students.
