*What you’ll do:*
* Perform treatments on hospitalized patients including the administration of medications by various routes
* Obtain vitals, blood pressure, ECG, and other monitoring parameters
* Monitor hydration status, administering CRI’s, setting up IV fluids with multiple lines, etc.
* Use phlebotomy skills and have a basic knowledge of hematology and “normals”
* Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing
* Use your knowledge of anesthetic drugs, protocols, and anesthesia monitoring to care for patients before, during, and after surgeries
* Communicate with clients
* Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
* Fill prescription medications
* Place and maintain intravenous catheters, central lines, and PICC lines
* Carry out transfusion therapy including blood typing and cross matching
* Care for and maintain feeding tubes
* Place male and female urinary catheters
* Place nasal O2 line
* Prepare patients for ultrasound and CT scans, including gathering history
* Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and communicate additional information as necessary

The Denver Health Inpatient Operating Room is an 11-room, highly specialized surgical unit that provides 24/7 surgical care to patients with complex and high-acuity needs. Serving the community of Denver, the State of Colorado, and surrounding states, the unit supports a full spectrum of surgical services through continuous staffing, which minimizes the need for call while maintaining exceptional patient care.
Staffed by a highly experienced and skilled clinical team, the Inpatient OR specializes in a wide range of surgery services, including:

The unit also houses a state-of-the-art Hybrid Operating Room, allowing for advanced image-guided vascular and endovascular procedures.
Additionally, the Denver Health Bariatric Surgery Center—located within the inpatient OR—is the only MBSAQIP-certified (Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program) hospital in Denver serving both adolescents (ages 16–20) and adults (ages 21–65).
The nurse-to-patient ratio in the Inpatient OR is 1:1, ensuring highly personalized surgical care.
A limited number of candidates are eligible for a $12,000 retention agreement as part of our commitment to attracting and retaining top talent. Eligibility requires 2+ years of OR experience , 1+ year of recent Level I trauma experience preferred.
Job Summary
Under the close supervision of an RN, participates as a member of the perioperative nursing team by performing direct and indirect perioperative surgical technologist tasks for patients having pediatric, adult, and geriatric surgical and endoscopy procedures. Performs tasks related to picking supplies and equipment for surgical cases. Scrubs for minor/ major/ complex surgical procedures. Transports patients. May be assigned to work in the sterile processing department and/ or operating room as required. Under the close supervision of a qualified surgeon, the surgical technologist performs scrub duties during the surgical procedures (holding retractors and passing instrumentation). Performs technical tasks pursuant to Colorado Revised Statutes, Title 12, Article 43.2
Essential Functions :
General Operations
• Functions as a scrub tech for minor/ major/ complex surgical procedures; anticipates surgical team needs; appropriately maintains sterile field and sterile processes; pulls according to Preference Card; has appropriate instrumentation and supplies; facilitates room turnover.
• Performs surgical counts under supervision of the RN. Follows and consults other team members regarding departmental policies when the policy is in question.
• Maintains instrument sets, hospital trays, and clinic trays in a functioning order and according to the number of instruments on the inventory/ count sheets.
• Receives, sorts, stocks, decontaminates, cleans, examines, and sterilizes surgical items according to AORN, AMMI, Joint Commission, and ASHCSP recommended practices. Acts as a resource when collection and disposal questions and concerns are in question.
• Performs OR environmental maintenance duties relating to sterilization and storage areas.
• Confirms drug dosages and utilizes the “three checks” when receiving and passing medications on the sterile field with the RN and surgeon as required. Ensures appropriate labeling of medications on the sterile field. Completes occurrence form when medication error occurs.
• Performs transportation responsibilities when requested; transporting patients form one area to another; delivering laboratory specimens, blood products, medications and other hospital/ medical items to the requested departments as needed; and includes access to the pneumatic tube system to transport items, including blood products and medications, to and from the tube and the desired location.

• Transports patients safely when required.
• Assists with the application of casts and splints.
• Reports defective material or equipment to the Unit Manager, Charge Nurse, Service Leader, or Chief Surgical Technologist for that service. Completes occurrence report pursuant to Denver Health policy.
• Teaches to AORN standards when precepting students, surgical technologists/ RNs in the scrub role.
• Maintains stock level of supplies and/ or equipment as assigned.
• Maintains Continuing Education hours and requirements for Certification. Maintains Certification.

*Cardiology Veterinary Technician*
We’re looking for a Cardiology Technician who brings both strong technical skills and a positive team spirit to every shift.

*Technical Skills*
* Schedule appointments and medical procedures for the Cardiologist.
* Perform appropriate animal restraint for exams and record findings on the exam form.
* Accurately acquire and record temperatures, pulses, respirations, weights and take patient histories and maintain patient records by recording all conversations with client in patient file.
* Perform venipuncture, catheterization, running CBCs and looking at blood smears.
* Obtain laboratory samples including urine and feces.
* Prepare appropriate lab request forms and submit appropriate samples.
* Prepare specimens to be sent to reference laboratories, ship lab work to, and take results from reference laboratories.
* Check laboratory values to make sure they are within normal limits and notify the Cardiologist if they are not.
* Administer injectable, oral, and dermal medications.
* Give injections in accordance with government regulations and doctor’s orders.
* Update patient status daily at required times.
* Accurately acquire blood pressure and oxygen saturation readings and EKG tracings.
* Maintain logs for controlled substances.
* Enter charges in the computer and prepare estimates.
* Knowledge of Ambulatory ECG placement and recording.
* Stock supplies and clean and maintain cardiology suite, equipment, and induction.

* Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood draws, lab work, anesthesia monitoring, medication administration, and triage.
* Solid knowledge of veterinary procedures and terminology; committed to continued learning.

The Labor & Delivery unit at North Colorado Medical Center is a busy 10-bed unit providing a personalized birthing experience to each of our mothers. As a Labor and Delivery Surgical Technologist, you will choose and arrange surgical tools, supplies, and equipment during surgery. Scrub techs are the first team members to scrub in and give sponges, dressings, and instruments to the doctor as needed during the procedure. You may also provide business support to the department including assigned administrative tasks.
Schedule:
Full-Time | Night Shift: Three12-hour shifts/week. Hours are 7pm-7:30am.Â
Weekend rotations are required in this role. Enjoy a flat rate $1.50/hour weekend shift differential and a $5 night shift differential when applicable.Â

This position selects and places surgical instruments, supplies and equipment during surgery. Scrubs and provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgical procedure.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Prepares for surgical procedures. Pulls appropriate instruments and supplies and ensures good working order of instruments. Reviews case carts for correct instruments and supplies. Plans ahead for upcoming surgical case needs.
2. Anticipates the surgeon's needs. Passes instruments, retracts tissue and operates equipment during surgery.
3. Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash and places used supplies into case cart for processing. Participates in counting of sharps, instruments and sponges. Prepares instruments for cleaning following each case.
4. Ensures that all surgeon preference cards and pick lists are accurate.
5. Assists with OR turnover between cases. Participates in stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning operating rooms.
6. May provide business support to the department including assigned administrative tasks.
7. This position follows safety procedures in regards to medication labeling, appropriate handling of specimens, appropriate handling of sharps, time-out procedure, radiation and laser safety, infection control, assembling and disassembling instruments. Participates in emergency call rotation. Internal customers are patients, surgeons, and nursing staff. External customers may include practicing physicians and patient families.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and current basic life support certification.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing patients with menu and tray/patient meal service, for receiving and forwarding patient requests and communication to dietary staff when appropriate. Works to provide patient satisfaction with dietary and food services. This position is responsible for the diet office processes and may provide lead responsibility for diet office in absence of supervisor including making assignments for position coverage.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Visits patients to obtain or discuss menu selections based upon diet ordered. Using judgment, checks that patient selections are appropriate to the defined selections for the diet prescribed, and makes modified diet decisions whether in the diet office or on the patient unit as required. Enters or records all daily patient meal selections and preferences for one or more patient units. Provides patients with standard information for prescribed diet. Requests Dietary staff assistance when needed.
2. Provides diet office processing including editing patient menus, tallying daily menu item counts from patient menus and preparing production sheets.
3. May lead in patient tray assembly/patient meal service process, assure food presentation meets quality standards, and check patient trays for menu compliance. Position is responsible for the diet office processes.
4. May delivers and serves meals while making independent judgments about special requests, snacks and nourishments as assigned to patient rooms or nursing units.
5. Under minimal supervision, this position interacts with patients and families, other food service staff, nursing staff, and dietary staff. Requires the ability to follow a work routine with minimal supervision, to work quickly and correctly while providing good customer service and maintaining dietary, food quality and sanitation standards. Ensures that the diet office processes are completed and may provide lead responsibility in absence of supervisor, typically during evening and/or weekend shifts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Requires reading, writing and mathematical skills.
Requires an understanding of nutrition services, common modified diets, and portion measures. Skills and knowledge in health care nutrition services typically gained through 3 years of related experience and/or education.
Ability to effectively lead assignments and reschedule staff assignments in the absence of supervisor as required. Requires the ability to work effectively with business computer software system and point of sale systems. Requires the ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required. Must have demonstrated effective customer service skills. The Sterile Processing Technician ensures clean, functional, and well-stocked medical instruments and equipment. In this role, you’ll sterilize items through critical steps that protect patients from infection and support care teams. This position demonstrates accountability for operating room readiness ensuring sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable supplies are complete and ready for a procedure prior to the preceding patient leaving the operating room. Responsible for the proper care and handling of all general and specialty instrumentation including the cleaning, decontamination, disassemble/reassemble, quality assurance, instrument identification, set assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instrumentation for PeriOp Services, hospital departments, and clinics.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides decontamination and sterile processing support to PeriOp Services, ED, ICU, hospital wide departments, clinics both on and off campus, and ambulatory surgery centers. Provides various levels of service for the management of sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable patient care supplies. Support may-or-may-not include, decontamination of surgical instruments, assembly/sterilization, sterile instrument storage, partial or complete case cart support, OR core tech support and high-level disinfection.
2. Responsible for the decontamination, assembly, and packaging of surgical instruments following established protocols, instructions for use (IFU) as well as performs required quality assurance, repairs, reassembly, documentation, sterility handling, and storage of specialized surgical instruments. Maintains required sterilization logs and quality assurance records relating to all equipment associated for the purpose of decontamination, HLD disinfection, and sterilization.
3. Ability to interpret the surgical schedule and medical terminology as it pertains to scheduled procedures requiring sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable supplies needed. Able to address and communicate special needs to minimize delays to surgery. Responds to emergent calls from the Operating Room and performs preliminary investigation. Determines priority level of instrumentation requests and other hospital needs. Directs services in a competent and professional manner while assuring OR priorities are completed in a timely manner.
4. Able to differentiate surgical instrumentation that is surgery owned, consignment/loaner, hospital depart, surgeon, ambulatory surgery center, and clinics both on and off campus. Completes necessary tracking of surgical instruments with a paper log sheet or computer process for instrumentation leaving the area. Reports needed replacement of surgical instruments to maintain the inventory and support readiness of sets.
5. Utilizes specialized equipment for the decontamination, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation according to the device and equipment manufacturer’s recommendations and hospital policy. Operates steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers of various. Operates automated surgical instrument washers, ultrasonics, flush pumps, visualization devices, and cart washers to include high-level disinfectors where supported.
6. Operates various quality assurance testing equipment associated to flexible endoscopic scopes, transesophageal ultrasound probes, and electro-surgical insulation defect detector for laparoscopic and energy provided surgical instrumentation. Utilizes heat detection devices to allow steam sterilized surgical instrumentation to be released for use without risking burns to staff and patients. Operates demagnetizers of stainless-steel instruments for ophthalmic and delicate cardiac surgical instrumentation for safe use on patients. Utilizes various borescope devices to inspect inner channels of lumened surgical instrumentation and flexible scopes.
7. Maintains a clean and safe environment by adhering to Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices. Staff follow protocols for proper donning of personnel protective equipment (PPE) while completing the decontamination process referencing IFU’s supplied by the manufacturers.
8. Maintain flexibility to rotate shifts and adjust hours as needed, maintain a work record of regular attendance, timely arrivals, and departures, maintain professional appearance appropriate to position and function.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Must have mechanical aptitude with the ability to break down moving parts, clean, lubricate and reassemble, problem solve incomplete trays and missing instrumentation and have effective organizational, communication and human relation skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Complete national certification as an SPD Technician within one year of hire.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
