$33.05 - $49.60Job Summary:
Specialist technologists analyzes blood, urine, and bone marrow and body fluid specimens in order to provide data that helps our physicians determine the best treatment for their patient. Automated and manual techniques are routinely used to properly evaluate samples in patients with a wide range of clinical conditions. Testing responsibilities include moderate and high complexity assays which are performed in compliance with accrediting organizations as well as departmental policies and procedures. The specialist technologist may be required to evaluate results, troubleshoot, and assist in developing new test methods. This position provides direct line supervision to professional and technical staff in the Stem Cell Processing Lab section. The specialist technologist coordinates and assists in teaching and training students and residents, as well as maintenance of the lab section's QA, regulatory compliance and standard operating procedures.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or a chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited university and meets other technologist qualifications.
Experience:
Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant laboratory tech and/or leadership experience.
Licensure, Certification and/or registration:
Technologist/Scientist/ Specialist Certification from ASCP or equivalent
Essential Functions:
1. Adheres to general hospital standards. Follows hospital policies and procedures. Follows departmental policies and procedures. Contributes to the overall work environment by utilizing appropriate communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures.
2. Ensures accurate and timely performance of laboratory testing. Performs procedures as indicated in the procedure manual with minimal supervision and within the required turn-around time without compromising quality. Correctly collects, accessions and/or accurately labels specimens. Responds to STAT priority samples immediately. Demonstrates competency to perform all procedures accurately.
3. Ensures quality of laboratory testing. Follows QC procedures and evaluates QC prior to releasing patient result and dispensing of products. Records and reviews results for accuracy and before reporting in the LIS. Demonstrates the ability to perform and document accurately all procedures related to critical values, technical limit failures and QA activities. Demonstrates the ability to recognize a problem, seek advice if needed and resolve if possible.
4. Follows proper safety and identification procedures in all aspects of laboratory testing. Properly identifies patients prior to sample collection. Identifies specimens at the time of receipt and notifies coworkers and involved lab sections when misidentifications are encountered. Labels samples and reports in a legible manner throughout the testing process. Ensures that results are reported for the correct specimen. Demonstrates the ability to perform and document accurately all procedures related to blood product preparation, dispensing and labeling in compliance with GMP regulatory requirements and Blood Bank QA activities.
5. Improves work skills through self-study and continuing education. Information from written documents and other communications are reviewed and appropriately applied. Manuals and procedure bulletins are used as reference and learning tools. Available educational opportunities and materials are utilized to enhance professional development. In-house continuing education programs are attended. Minimum of 4 hours of continuing education/year are completed outside of annual in-service requirements.
6. Contributes to the smooth and efficient operation of the section and department. Able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Covers assigned work area and assists the team in covering other areas that need assistance. Answers the phone and follows through on all requests appropriately. Aids in training and orientation of less experienced employees, students, and others as delegated. Performs work without allowing personal situation/perspectives to compromise lab operations. Adjusts schedule to meet changes in workload or at the direction of the manager. Schedules appointments on days off when possible.
7. Protects self, coworkers and facility Follows approved fire, chemical and biological safety policies and procedures. Follows approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of blood borne and/or airborne diseases. Uses engineering controls, work practice controls and appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
8. Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals and standards of laboratory testing. Presents a professional image in all aspects of the job. Is courteous, helpful, and aware of the customers in all situations and works to satisfy their needs. Exhibits the hospital key values and standards of laboratory testing.
9. Performs delegated supervisory responsibilities. Supervises employees assigned. Maintains supply inventory for the sub-section. Maintains equipment and coordinates service with outside vendors as necessary. Assists with CAP (College of American Pathology), AABB (American Association of Blood Banks) and FACT (Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy) inspection preparedness and participates in inspection as needed. Assists with laboratory compliance activities in the sub-section.
10. Collaborates with Manager in preparation of procedure manuals and implementation of new procedures. Assists manager in making all updates to procedure manuals. Develops and implements new procedures and/or changes to existing procedures.
11. Assists in the training of new personnel, students, and others. Coordinates schedule and training of students, residents, and new employees and others. Provides training to staff as necessary.

- Follows lab procedures for specimen collection, handling and processing in an efficient manner. Knowledgeable of specimen requirements and refers to reference manual as needed.
- Adheres to patient test management protocols to provide overall quality assurance from the pre-analytic, analytic, to the post-analytic phases of testing to include proper identification. Clarifies discrepancies in test orders with physician or Diagnostic Supervisor.
- Performs and documents instrument maintenance and calibration as needed.
- Maintains required clerical records for Lab and X-Ray (i.e., patient logs, requests, results, reagent log, addendums, critical or flagged reports).
- Participates in proficiency testing as assigned.
- Performs all activities necessary to produce correct x-rays (i.e., patient I.D., patient gowning, handling of injured patients, positioning of patients, labeling and determining correct exposure to produce optimum x-rays in an efficient manner).
- Assists Diagnostic Supervisor in teaching and on-the-job training of lab/x-ray procedures for new personnel as instructed.
- Performs other patient care duties when required.
- Carries out EXAMINE protocols accurately and in a timely manner. Keeps informed of updates, new clients, and related changes in policy.
- Assists the Diagnostic Supervisor in maintaining the appropriate laboratory and X-ray supplies as required by department guidelines.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
Radiology graduates: American Registry of Radiology Technology (ARRT); Laboratory Medicine graduates: certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).
Education Required:
Associates degree in Radiology or Laboratory Medicine.
Experience Required:
One year of experience in patient care is preferred.

Must be able to use visual near and distance acuity. Must have verbal ability to communicate in person and over the phone or radio. Must be able to assist co-workers in transfers and transport supplies, patients/residents, or equipment using good body mechanics. Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 60-80 pounds, specific to the job class evaluation. Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and change from one position to the other rapidly. Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs. and carry 25-50 pounds specific to job class evaluation. Must be able to tolerate high noise, busy atmospheres and noxious odors. Must be able to work in noisy environments and be self directed to complete jobs as ordered. Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations. The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for handling daily activities of sterilizing devices, tools, and equipment used in surgical procedures.
Responsible for providing safe and efficient indirect care of the perioperative patient. This is achieved through performing the decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization and distribution of hospital instrumentation, as well as supplies and equipment for all Surgical Services.
What you will need:
Education: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM)
Experience: Two years experience in another Central Sterile Processing Area preferred. Certification will be required within 6 months of onboarding.
Special Qualifications: Knowledgeable in basic aseptic techniques, knowledgeable of the Sterilization process of equipment and supplies and knowledgeable of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies. Reasonably self-motivated, has the ability to work independently.

Education & Training:
High School diploma or GED equivalent. General knowledge of medical terminology. Completion of an approved educational diploma program in ECG/EKG, Cardiology, or Emergency Medical Services. Education/training (except for HS diploma or GED equivalent) may be waived with experience listed below.
Experience:
One (1) year experience as a Monitor Tech, Critical Care Tech, or Patient Care
Tech in a hospital. Hospital experience may be substituted with Two (2) years of
experience in an acute clinical care setting or Two (2) years’ experience as an
emergency medical technician. Experience may be waived with
education/training as listed above.
Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Current AHA/ARC BLS certification. Successful completion of post-hire 4-6 week Telemetry Clinical Orientation and passing score on the ECG written exam
(Rhythm Interpretation) within ninety (90) days of hire. Successful completion
of hands-on clinical competencies during the orientation period.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to effectively monitor patient cardiac rhythms via telemetry or hardwired

Scan / upload monitored strips every 4 hours, in addition to as needed requests as appropriate based on assigned unit and patient acuity as relayed by nursing staff. Must be able to maintain established alarm limit / parameter settings on all patients assigned. Proficiency demonstrated to Departmental Educator / Manager using GE, Airstrip, and Ascom clinical platforms.

instruments and wrapping and repacking sterilized instruments. Must be able to
follow written instructions and perform multiple tasks. Must be able to utilize
personal protective equipment such as gloves, gown, mask, etc.

Work Shift:
Day - 12 Hour (United States of America)7:00am - 7:00pm (24 Weekly Hours)This position is responsible for the monitoring and assessment of patient on cardiac monitoring devices throughout the EHC organization including telemetry transmitters and hard-wired monitors. This role is trained in ECG interpretation and is responsible for continuous monitoring of all telemetry rhythms, interpreting rhythm strips, measuring specific waveform intervals, and interacting professionally with nursing staff and physicians in rhythm identification notification of deviation from baseline, as well as initiating baseline data collection of each event.
Education & Training:
High School diploma or GED equivalent. General knowledge of medical terminology. Completion of an approved educational diploma program in ECG/EKG, Cardiology, or Emergency Medical Services. Education/training (except for HS diploma or GED equivalent) may be waived with experience listed below.
Experience:
One (1) year experience as a Monitor Tech, Critical Care Tech, or Patient Care
Tech in a hospital. Hospital experience may be substituted with Two (2) years of
experience in an acute clinical care setting or Two (2) years’ experience as an
emergency medical technician. Experience may be waived with
education/training as listed above.
Required Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Current AHA/ARC BLS certification. Successful completion of post-hire 4-6 week Telemetry Clinical Orientation and passing score on the ECG written exam
(Rhythm Interpretation) within ninety (90) days of hire. Successful completion
of hands-on clinical competencies during the orientation period.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to effectively monitor patient cardiac rhythms via telemetry or hardwired
monitor, in addition to utilizing all other equipment as assigned to facilitate
quality patient care. Communicate effectively with nursing staff, providers,
patients, and staff through written and verbal means in a high workflow
environment. Maintain patient monitoring log and document rhythms in medical records. Label telemetry strips with rhythm interpretation, ventricular rate, and measure PR, QT, and ST segment intervals. Scan / upload monitored strips every 4 hours, in addition to as needed requests as appropriate based on assigned unit and patient acuity as relayed by nursing staff. Must be able to maintain established alarm limit / parameter settings on all patients assigned. Proficiency demonstrated to Departmental Educator / Manager using GE, Airstrip, and Ascom clinical platforms.

What you will do:
