Sentara Obici Hospital, a 175-bed state-of-the-art facility, is located on Godwin Boulevard in Suffolk, VA. Our full-service hospital continues a legacy of providing residents of Western Tidewater with high-quality, patient-centered care. As a recognized accredited Primary Stroke Center, and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, the hospital specializes in orthopedic and spine, heart and vascular, advanced imaging, gynecological and comprehensive breast services, behavioral health, maternity, weight loss surgery, and a heartburn treatment center.
Role Summary
The Hospitalist Physician provides inpatient medical care to the adult patient population, working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to support quality, safety, and efficient patient flow.
Position Highlights
Day Hospitalist
- Shifts: 184 Annual Shifts, 7a-7p
- Schedule Model: 7 on / 7 off, block
- Admissions: Rotational and evenly distributed amongst all providers
- No procedures required
- ICU Model: Open with critical care support in person 7a-7p, eICU remote support from 7p-7a
- Vent management support by critical care team
Nocturnist
- Shift: 182 Annual Shifts, 9p-7a
- Coverage Model: Based on staff availability currently utilizing in-house MD and APPs. Only as last option eHub
Care Model
- Patient Census: Average Daily Census 16
- APP Support: Yes, only with admissions but hiring APPs to support rounding patients
Qualifications
- MD or DO
- Board Certified or Eligible (IM or FM), Certification must be obtained within 5 years of eligibility
- Eligible for licensure and credentialing in Virginia

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides assessment, treatment, and education to cardiac and pulmonary patients and their families in an outpatient cardiac, pulmonary rehabilitation or inpatient setting. Writes exercise prescriptions to progress patients through phase two and three outpatient rehabilitation.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Evaluates patient’s functional abilities and limitations to determine appropriate intervention. Develops a plan of care and exercise goals, as ordered by physician or other referral source. Works alongside and receives guidance from other more experienced team members when working in phase I and II cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation. May oversee phase III outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehab independently.
2. Implements individualized exercise plans based on patients’ physical and age-specific needs and abilities. Ensures that treatment plans are supported by standard practices and/or current literature. Reevaluates treatment plans, as needed, to ensure safety and maximum patient benefit.
3. Educates patients, family, and other care providers post cardiac to promote patient participation and attainment of exercise program goals. Provides individualized home programs with clear instructions. Instructs patients and families in pathology, discharge guidelines, risk factor modification, and exercise individually and through classes for both cardiac and pulmonary patients.
4. Under general supervision, documents patient treatment according to professional and regulatory standards.
5. Follows plan of care to accomplish functions within established procedures and scope of practice. Confers with lead or supervisor on any unusual situations.
6. Utilizes basic understanding of medical devices, equipment function and quality control measurements. Adheres to safety policies. Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
7. Complies with all ethical, legal and professional responsibilities. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a level of clinical knowledge as normally obtained through Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field.
Minimum experience of a 300 + hour internship in cardiac rehabilitation or equivalent clinical/patient hours.
Requires knowledge in cardiac/pulmonary physiology, management and treatment of chronic disease, health promotion, ECG interpretation.
Requires the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers. Must have strong interpersonal, communication and human relation skills.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
600+ hour internship in outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Staff: 10 Full time APPs on the team. Collegial team environment. Well supported by attending physicians with at least two (usually three) faculty physicians in the ED.

Training: New graduates are welcome and supported with a robust onboarding program. Paired 1x1 with an experienced APP for the first 3 months.
Licensure: Must have NC PA/NP license (NPs must be ENP boarded or eligible), BLS, ACLS before starting. Must obtain ATLS after starting eventually.

Job Description:
The Chief Medical Officer, Community Hospital, works in partnership with hospital administrative, physician, and nursing leaders, to help define, establish, and direct clinical care teams, provide medical direction and leadership, and serve as liaison between the medical staff and administration. The Chief Medical Officer ensures extraordinary patient care and experience with optimal caregiver engagement through the fundamentals of care: Safety, Quality, Access, Patient Experience, Engaged Caregivers, and Stewardship.
Community Hospitals are defined as 30 - 100 or more beds size, are limited in specialty services with basic to moderate complexity, and 70,000 - 250,000 total Attributed Network Lives. Community hospitals include: Alta View, American Fork, Cedar City, Layton, LDS, Logan, Park City, Riverton, and Spanish Fork. The Chief Medical Officer is an integral part of the hospital executive team, is the physician leader in the hospital, and is responsible for the coordination and function of all aspects of hospital medical affairs. The Chief Medical Officer works collaboratively with all disciplines (e.g., specialty care, community care, clinical programs, shared clinical services, clinically integrated networks). Scope
This is a hospital physician leadership role with key organizational relationships across Intermountain Health with a specific focus on leading the clinical performance and continuous improvement of the Community Hospital. This position has a solid line reporting relationship to the Senior Medical Director, Community Hospitals in Specialty Based-Care and a partner relationship to the Hospital Administrator. The Chief Medical Officer serves as a member of the Medical Executive Committee and as a non-voting member of all other Medical Staff committees at facility. The Chief Medical Officer maintains a working relationship with the Board and works with the Board on specialized affairs and functions according to the established description of services prescribed by the incumbent's contract.

Performs and coordinates timely reviews for appropriateness of clinical work and patient experience of care in partnership with hospital medical staff leadership and Clinical Excellence, including Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) and peer review.
Teaches, models, and ensures appropriate physician and APP behavior.
Maintains appropriate and accurate documentation and records to ensure compliance with all facility, system, governmental, and applicable JCAHO requirements.
Assists in quality reporting, including educating physicians and APP's about publicly reported measures and appropriate clinical documentation.
Collaborates with Clinical Programs, Clinical Services, Operations Lanes, and Specialty Based Care leaders for strategic and best practice development and implementation.
Supports and drives results for key metrics and initiatives identified through Specialty Based Care.
Patient Experience
Champions and helps drive improvement in patient experience amongst all caregivers.

Minimum Qualifications
M.D. or D.O. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.

Physician - Academic Surgical OncologistThe University of Kansas Health System and the Department of Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center are seeking a talented Surgical Oncologist specializing in gastrointestinal malignancies and peritoneal surface diseases to join an expanding, collaborative, multidisciplinary team. This physician will play an integral role in providing exceptional patient care while actively supporting the institution’s core missions of clinical excellence, education, research, and academic advancement. The successful candidate will leverage the extensive resources of our NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center to deliver cutting-edge treatment and contribute to meaningful scientific discovery within an integrated academic health system.
In this role, the ideal candidate will provide comprehensive, patient-centered surgical oncology care that encompasses the initial evaluation, diagnosis, complex surgical treatment, and longitudinal management of patients. The candidate will work in close, daily coordination with a robust multidisciplinary team that includes medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, gastroenterology, and primary care to develop highly individualized treatment plans. Beyond executing a broad range of surgical oncology procedures aligned with your advanced training, responsibilities will also include active participation in multidisciplinary tumor boards, inpatient consultations, shared call coverage, and overseeing comprehensive pre-operative, operative, post-operative, and survivorship care.
A strong commitment to the academic mission is essential, as the position requires active engagement in clinical, translational, or outcomes-based research within the field of Surgical Oncology. Applicants will be expected to collaborate across various disciplines to advance innovative research initiatives, drive scholarly productivity, and contribute regularly to peer-reviewed publications and presentations. Furthermore, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the education of medical students and the mentorship of General Surgery residents across inpatient, outpatient, and operative settings.
