Physician Pediatric Cardiologist - Kalamazoo, MIBronson Pediatric Cardiology Specialists in Kalamazoo, Michigan is actively seeking a dynamic Pediatric Cardiologist that is BE/BC in Pediatric Cardiology.
Position Highlights:
- Candidate will join two other established Pediatric Cardiologists and one APP to provide general outpatient cardiology care with inpatient consults
- Responsibilities include TTE, ambulatory ECG, general outpatient cardiology care, and consult services for inpatient teams. Fetal echocardiography available but not required. We partner with regional academic centers for cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology services, including strong established relationships with electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, and pulmonary hypertension, as needed.
- Support includes experienced echo technician coverage 24/7.
- Full-Time position, will consider less than 1.0 FTE for the appropriate candidate
- There are teaching opportunities with residents and medical students; academic affiliation is available through Western Michigan University Homer S. Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.
- Eight half day clinics per week with 8 hours administrative time weekly. Outpatient clinic attached to inpatient hospital. Dedicated rounding time when on call.
- Epic EMR, artificial intelligence scribe support, in clinic dietitian and social work support and dedicated nurse coordinator for complex congenital patients.

- BC/BE Fellowship Trained in Pediatric Cardiology

About Bronson Children’s Hospital:
- Bronson Children’s Hospital is a designated children’s hospital recognized by NACHRI and offers a full range of pediatric subspecialties.
- Provides support for the following pediatric subspecialties: Hematology/Oncology, GI, Endocrine, PICU, Pediatric Psychology (including Neurodevelopmental Testing), Surgery, Neurology, Urology, and more
- Bronson maintains a Level III Perinatal Center, including a 45-bed NICU and an active maternal fetal medicine group, serving as the premier mother-baby unit of Southwest Michigan. BCH also includes a 34-bed Pediatric Unit and an 8-bed PICU with a 4-bed step-down unit.

Physicians are responsible for diagnosing illnesses and prescribing as well as administering treatment for patients suffering from disease or illness. They also examine patients in addition to obtaining medical histories. Other job responsibilities include ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests in addition to counseling patients regarding preventive healthcare, hygiene and diet. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Major Responsibilities:
- Identifies and sources targeted physicians using a variety of creative and effective recruitment methods that include web advertising, mining websites, email blasts, social media, journal ads, direct mail, telemarketing, networking, referral programs, phone interviews, conference attendance, and search firms. Identifies qualities and skills needed by the hiring department and utilizes information to develop effective recruitment plans for sourcing and identifying physician candidates.
- Develops and implements complex recruitment plans and aligns recruiting efforts with organizational strategies/objectives. Screens potential candidates assessing their background/training to determine compatibility and fit for organizational opportunities. Provides the candidate with the critical organizational guiding principles that successfully describe the organizational culture and potential life-long career opportunities. The incoming physician will provide a full spectrum of orthopedic care, including clinic consultations, treatment planning, injections, fracture management, and surgical interventions. The practice receives referrals from both the hospital and community providers, allowing physicians to develop a diverse patient panel and maintain an active surgical practice.
Current patient volumes average 18 to 22 patients per day, including new consultations and follow-up visits. Responsibilities also include managing patient communications, reviewing referrals, medication refills, disability-related documentation, and cast and splint management. The practice does not treat spine cases or workers' compensation patients.
The orthopedic team currently consists of two physicians who foster a collegial and supportive work environment focused on delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate is collaborative, patient-centered, and enjoys working closely with colleagues and hospital leadership to meet the needs of the community
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience diagnosing and treating a broad range of orthopedic conditions.
- Experience performing orthopedic surgical procedures and managing postoperative care.

Brian Casey, MD, joined the WVU Medicine team in March 2024. Dr. Casey came with an extensive background in high-quality healthcare and a commitment to improving care for women in West Virginia and beyond.
Casey joined WVU Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he held numerous leadership roles, including the vice chair of Obstetrics, division director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, assistant program director of the MFM Fellowship, alternate principal investigator for the Eunice Kennedy- Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network, and interim director of the Obstetric Medical Complications Clinic.
Before his time in Alabama, Casey served as MFM division director, MFM fellowship director at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, principal investigator for the Dallas MFMU Network site, and chief of Obstetrics for Parkland Health and Hospital System in Texas. He also serves as an editor of Williams Obstetrics.
Casey completed his fellowship in MFM at UT Southwestern/Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas and his residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. He received his medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine.

About the Position:
The ideal candidate will be able to perform in-patient attending consultation rounds in rotation with other faculty members and maintain a weekly ID ambulatory clinic with potential for general infectious diseases population and specialist populations based on individual interest and expertise. Patient care duties may involve training medical students, residents, fellows, or other learners.
Candidates will also be able to provide formal educational instruction by consistently attending and presenting at key Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases conferences including but not limited to Core Curriculum, Case Conference, Journal Club, Patient Safety, Clinical Pathological Conferences and Antimicrobial Stewardship and will provide specialty content updates emphasizing pathophysiology, clinical and diagnostic principles and emerging therapeutic interventions.
Additionally, candidates will participate in formal scholarship activities including but not limited to mentorship of house staff and student academic projects, conduction and dissemination of scientific discoveries, participation in Divisional and Institutional scholarship activities with an emphasis on specialty areas of expertise and to continually foster an environment of learning and discovery.

$59.00 - $88.50MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical responsibilities:
Assesses, diagnoses, and determines/alters treatment and management plans appropriate for age, acuity and clinical condition. This includes ordering, performing, and interpreting appropriate diagnostic studies and prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and therapies.
Manages conditions based on clinical indication, evidence-based care, cost effectiveness, and assessment of risks/benefits and alternatives.
Provides health promotion, disease prevention and disease management counseling and education of patients and families.
Manages patients as part of an interdisciplinary team and within scope of practice. Seeks physician or other healthcare team member consultation or referrals as appropriate. Escalates need for more emergent or specialized care when necessary.
Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Substantiates and submits professional services consistent with compliant coding and billing practices.
Facilitates consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team and/or health or community agencies.
Performs office or hospital procedures in accordance with specialty practice, competency and granted privileges (where applicable).
Other responsibilities:
Participates in quality, safety, and peer review initiatives/performance activities, organizational and/or departmental meetings and committees, peer review, and workgroups as necessary.
Participates in education and/or onboarding of new team members, students, and other health care professionals.
Seeks experiences to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and advance the profession within and outside of the organization.
Maintains standards of productivity, access, face-to-face time, and quality metrics to ensure optimal, safe and timely patient care delivery.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
License/Registration/Certification Required:
Active PA license(s) in state(s) of practice, AND
Active PA national board certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Active DEA registration prior to hire, AND
If Illinois practice: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire, AND
Active BLS and/or ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical practice prior to or within 6 months of hire
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant
Experience Required: No experience required

Demonstrated high level of clinical proficiency, and excellent decision-making skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective member of a health care team.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving technology and proficiency with the electronic medical record.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish/build relationships with others.
Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the workday.
Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing.
Must be able to:
Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
Lift up to 20 lbs over the head.
Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
