Research Scientist in Molecular Bacteriology- Department of Oral Medicine, Atrium Health-Wake Forest School of Medicine, Charlotte, NC USA
Job Summary: The Research Scientist is responsible for conducting basic and translational research for biomarker discovery for oral and systemic diseases. The individual will use molecular microbiology, molecular biology, cellular biology, and biochemistry investigation methodologies in bench research. The individual undertakes research studies in areas defined by department leadership. Responsibilities will include all aspects of research from protocol and experimental design, study implementation in the laboratory, data analysis and interpretation, independent grant writing and submission, abstract and manuscript preparation, presentation at meetings., and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. All work will be conducted with minimum of direct supervision as defined by the department’s directors of research.
Education, Training, and Experience
Ph.D., MD-PhD, DDS-PhD and/ or other doctoral degrees with appropriate research experience during prior graduate and postdoctoral education needed in microbiology, molecular and cellular biology, and biochemistry. Postdoctoral training in reputable labs using contemporary biomedical research approaches. Experience in biostatistics or bioinformatics and clinical outcome research is a plus. Experience in basic and translational research in oral Medicine preferred.
The ability to develop novel research projects and implement them into laboratory is essential. Excellence in oral and written communication skills is required. Prior publications demonstrated required. Demonstrated grant funding preferred. Organizational, time management, and planning capabilities needed. Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, energetic, and to work effectively in a team environment.

All work will be conducted with minimum of direct supervision as defined by the director of the laboratory. Experience in biostatistics, bioinformatics, basic and translational research in oral Medicine preferred.
Essential Functions
- Performs searches in bioreository, genomic and bioinformatic databases, analyzes data, and prepares presentations.
- Provides instruction and mentors to residents, post-doctoral fellows, students and research associates on the fundamentals of Oral Medicine Research, evidence-based medicine, research principles, and methodologies.
- Develops and Performs basic science and clinical translational research projects related, but not limited, to oral medicine, cancer, and autoimmune diseases.
- Collaborates on projects on the basic and clinical and translational aspects of oral medicine
- Generates data quality check, data reports and analysis and writes progress reports.
- Writes manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Prepares abstracts and presents research findings at local and national meetings.
- Conceives, develops, writes, and submits grant funding.
- Participates in safety and quality assurance activities.
physical Requirements
Involves long periods of sitting or standing and some walking. Routine lifting of documents, supplies, equipment, solutions and chemicals required.
Education, Experience and Certifications
MD and/or Ph.D. with at least 3 years of relevant post-doctoral research in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or relevant biomedical fields preferred. Published in respected journals with high report factors preferred.

$28.55 - $42.85Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures and policies by adherence to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work area, documenting corrective action to any non-conforming event.
Prepares reagents, maintains an adequate supply of materials for test procedures and manages inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste/expense.
Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities while identifying, problem solving and offering solutions to test systems through the appropriate department channels, i.e. contacts hotline to troubleshoot with a specialist when necessary to resolve the issue or set-up service when appropriate.
Assists with review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, adhering to all regulatory requirements for various authorities, including but not limited to CAP, TJC, OSHA.
Maintains clear, real time communications shift-to-shift and with leadership regarding issues, concerns and problems which may affect patient care or the operation of the department.
Participates in planning and implementing change through participation in staff meetings, task forces or projects.
Participates in competency assessment program, where qualified.
Physical Requirements
Works in a fast-paced clinical environment. Works in an area which contains bio hazardous (infectious) materials along with chemical, fire, and mechanical hazards. Duties may involve standing, walking, stretching, stooping, bending and lifting light (20 pound) to moderately heavy (50 pound) loads.

As aNuclear MedicineTechnologist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:
- Perform a variety of Nuclear Medicine procedures utilizing multiple types of gamma cameras, utilizing proper injection techniques while injecting radioisotopes.
- Perform IV puncture, and administer radiopharmaceuticals via IV when indicated.
- Prepare exam room, communicate with the patient, obtain informed consent when necessary, and request an accurate clinical history as necessary for the exam.
- Receive patients, explain method of examination, and position patient.
- Select appropriate imaging techniques and protocols to complete the exam.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals and other medications in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate Degree or equivalent from two-year College or Technical School; or a minimum of one (1) year minimum related experience and/or training.
- Current ARRT (R) (NM) or NMTCB as CNMT registry.
- Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one (1) year of experience in Nuclear Medicine.

Physical Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY: The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) has coordination and clinical skills required for the comprehensive management of Dermatology patients. The APP coordinates involvement of medical specialty teams necessary to develop a comprehensive plan for the patient, and reviews the plan of care with the other members of the clinical team, participates in directing that care, performs diagnostic/therapeutic procedures and coordinates disposition decisions and discharge planning/follow-up (as applicable). The APP participates in the education of residents and medical/nursing students.
Provide healthcare services consistent with state law and the requirements of the professional licensing or certification authority and/or hospital privileges, where applicable. Such service may include, but are not limited to.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR NURSE PRACTITIONER:

1.Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing.
2.National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers.

POSITION SUMMARY

6. Demonstrates proactive interpersonal communications skills while dealing with patient concerns through telephone calls, emails and in-person conversations. Optimizes patient flow by using effective customer service/communication skills by communicating to internal and external customers, care team, management, centralized services and HIMS.
7. Assists in responding to requests for patient medical records according to company policies and procedures, and state and federal laws.

Principal Accountabilities

*Call required (30 minute call return time)
*CST and BLS (American Heart Assoc) required

This position is located at Memorial Hermann Memorial City.
Position is responsible for providing expert perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation. Position functions as a scrub assistant to the physician performing operative and/or invasive procedures. Works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and as outlined in the Surgical Technologist Skills Inventory; uses knowledge/expertise to act as a role model and resource for other staff.
Position must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served as well as knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.

Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, and accuracy of practice.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff; provides orientation and in-service training to department personnel.

This position is a part of our fulfillment center float pool and will work assignments among several Central Valley Sutter Health locations including Modesto, Tracy and Los Banos.Executes procedures in assigned areas of the Laboratory to deliver accurate results in a timely manner. Maintains competence to perform pre-analytic, analytic and post-analytic procedures on biological specimens to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of disease. Performs a variety of basic and complex Laboratory procedures, including phlebotomy, specimen processing, quality control, quality assurance, and waived, moderate or high complexity testing (as classified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments - CLIA). If assigned to the Transfusion Service, performs moderate or high complexity testing and other duties such as blood inventory management, blood product preparation, and issuing blood products for transfusion. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure patient privacy and maintain the highest level of safety and reliability in testing.
