WVUHS Medical Group seeks a primary care sports medicine physician. The successful candidate/candidates will be expected to practice in the primary location of Charleston and South Charleston, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of primary care sports medicine.
Qualifications: Applicants must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain state medical license. Successful Candidate must have completed a Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Mon-Peds residency program, along with a Sports Medicine fellowship. Successful Candidate must be board certified/eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Med-Peds. All qualifications must be met at the time of appointment.

Clinical responsibilities:
Assesses, diagnoses, and determines/alters treatment and management plans appropriate for age, acuity and clinical condition. This includes ordering, performing, and interpreting appropriate diagnostic studies and prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and therapies.
Manages conditions based on clinical indication, evidence-based care, cost effectiveness, and assessment of risks/benefits and alternatives.
Provides health promotion, disease prevention and disease management counseling and education of patients and families.
Manages patients as part of an interdisciplinary team and within scope of practice. Seeks physician or other healthcare team member consultation or referrals as appropriate. Escalates need for more emergent or specialized care when necessary.
Maintains accurate, complete, concise, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Substantiates and submits professional services consistent with compliant coding and billing practices.
Facilitates consistent, coordinated care and clear communication among all members of the healthcare team and/or health or community agencies.
Performs office or hospital procedures in accordance with specialty practice, competency and granted privileges (where applicable).
Other responsibilities:
Participates in quality, safety, and peer review initiatives/performance activities, organizational and/or departmental meetings and committees, peer review, and workgroups as necessary.
Participates in education and/or onboarding of new team members, students, and other health care professionals.
Seeks experiences to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills and advance the profession within and outside of the organization.
Maintains standards of productivity, access, face-to-face time, and quality metrics to ensure optimal, safe and timely patient care delivery.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
License/Registration/Certification Required:
Active PA license(s) in state(s) of practice, AND
Active PA national board certification from National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Active DEA registration prior to hire, AND
If Illinois practice: active Illinois Controlled Substance License prior to hire, AND
Active BLS and/or ACLS, PALS, NRP as required by clinical practice prior to or within 6 months of hire
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Physician Assistant
Experience Required: No experience required

Pay and Benefit Expectations
We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $305,000.00 - $305,000.00 USD. - Evaluate, diagnose and manage patients with autoimmune and musculoskeletal diseases (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, vasculitis, gout, spondyloarthropathies and many more) in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Provide consultative and direct care services for hospitalized patients with complex autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal diseases. Evaluate and manage acute rheumatologic flares, systemic autoimmune complications, and complex diagnostic cases.
- Collaboratively work with hospitalists, subspecialists, nursing, and ancillary staff to ensure high-quality, coordinated inpatient care and smooth transitions to outpatient follow-up when appropriate
- Perform and interpret joint aspirations, injections, and other rheumatologic procedures. Perform bedside procedures in the inpatient setting such as arthrocentesis, joint and soft-tissue injections, and synovial fluid analysis.
- Perform musculoskeletal ultrasound for diagnostic purpose and procedures
- Provide tele- health rheumatological consultation for multiple hospitals
- Collaborate with primary care providers and specialty teams to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing medical education (CME), and departmental meetings.
- Provide teaching and mentorship for residents, fellows, and medical students (if applicable).
- Be up to date with national and international guidelines in pathologies and diseases of the rheumatological diseases.
- Create, monitor, and treat patients with advanced pharmacotherapy, such as biologic therapy in inflammatory bowel diseases.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of U.S. ACGME accredited internal medicine residency training.
- Completion of U.S. ACGME accredited rheumatology fellowship training.
- American Board of Internal Medicine board certification in Internal Medicine.
- American Board of Internal Medicine board certification in Rheumatology.
- Completion of Ultrasound School of North American Rheumatologists training.
- Unrestricted Utah medical license.
- Utah Controlled Substance license/DEA registration.

Candidates must be board certified/eligible in general surgery and must have completed a colon and rectal surgery fellowship by the time of appointment. For appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, a demonstrated track-record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and publications in high-impact journals is required. Position Purpose

Sets a universal standard for the delivery of patient care. Is the leader in the setting of goals and improvement plans for all Trinity Health quality standards.
Participates and assists in the development of plans and implementation in all service line and patient care competency development.
Promotes all programs and services to referring physicians.
Educates physicians and office personnel on all aspects of the Market. Is a resource and problem solver when service issues arise.
Works with the President of the facility medical staff to provide leadership development opportunities, set goals and objectives for development of key medical staff for the Marke and is a role model for changing behavior and creating opportunities for better understanding by medical leadership of business and strategic operations of the Market.
Works directly with the CCO at Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic in bridging the clinical arena of the Market to the development of Trinity Health standards of performance and Trinity Health policy.
Creates unity among the facility medical staffs and where appropriate seeks ways to collaborate and combine operations to effect greater teamwork.
Supervises and manages the medical affairs division to ensure achievement of objectives in a cost-effective manner and to ensure the continued improvement of physician/physician, and physician/administration and physician/community relationships.
Participates with the Senior Leadership Team of the Market in all Managed Care strategies and negotiations.
Participates in Senior Leadership Team meetings and is a member of Executive Leadership.
Provides leadership to assigned teams and is a resource to them for problem solving and physician input.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited medical school (MD or DO is required) and completed an accredited residency program in a medical specialty.
Board certification in field of specialty and agree to maintain such Board Certification through tenure of employment.
Board certification is required in an ABMS Board.
Graduate from an accredited university with a Master's in Business Administration, a Masters in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
Ability to work in a complex matrix reporting environment.
Proven leader with minimum of 15 years in clinical practice and 5 years executive leadership.
Demonstrated ability to lead and implement quality improvement initiatives. Demonstrated ability to lead medical staff quality initiatives.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, to effectively discuss quality issues and performance and to foster culture of the Market and Trinity Health. Strong leadership/influencing skills are required with the ability to work effectively within a Market and influence others and achieve results.
Advanced interpersonal, management and organizational skills are necessary. Duties: The successful candidate will practice primary care medicine. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible to obtain a West Virginia medical license. A successful candidate must have completed a family medicine, internal medicine, or med-peds residency program. WVUHS Medical Group seeks a PRN General Surgery Physician. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in the primary location of Petersburg, West Virginia.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the area of general surgery to provide weekend call coverage from Friday at 4PM through Monday at 8AM.
Qualifications: Successful candidates must have an MDor DO degree or foreign educational equivalent and be eligible for state medical license.Applicants must have completed a General Surgery Residency program. Applicants must be board certified or eligible in General Surgery. All qualifications must be met at the time of appointment.

The hospital serves a multi-county area with a wide range of healthcare services, including a 24/7, 13-bed Emergency Department; Surgical Clinic; Orthopedic Clinic; Podiatry Clinic; Cancer Center; Primary Care Clinic; Wound Care services; and the only Birthing Center in a five-county region.
