Pay Range:
$22.90 - $34.35Major Responsibilities: Assembles general and specialty instruments and sets 1)Examines surgical instrumentation for cleanliness, proper assembly and proper performance. 2)Assembles instrument set, ensuring that the correct number and type of instruments are present following established lists and placing the instruments to appropriately to ensure sterilization and ease of use by the user. 3)Check instrument performance and identify repair needs. 4)Acts as resource on instrument identification, appropriate use, location, and availability. Leadership Behaviors 1)Assists with adjustment in daily work assignments to compensate for fluctuation to work flow in absence of SPD supervisor. 2)Observes employee activities throughout the shift to ensure that established procedures are being followed for quality control. 3)Monitors the activities of employees and other personnel in SPD, on weekends and holidays having responsibility for an effective and efficient operation. 4)Notifies SPD Manager of any problems that occur during the shift. 5)Communicates ideas for revision of policy and/or procedure. 6)Assists in ensuring that equipment is properly functioning by communicating equipment malfunctions to manager and/or Engineering/Biomed and filling out appropriate work orders. 7)Acts as liaison between SPD and other departments to interpret problems that occur and communicate back to them in a courteous and professional manner. 8)Assists in maintaining SPD inventory by periodically ordering and receiving supplies and maintaining the appropriate paperwork. 9)Demonstrates positive role model and works independently to assure surgical patients needs are met. Decontamination of General and Specialty instruments and sets 1)Demonstrates independent function in ensuring that soiled instrumentation of any surgical specialty is decontaminated in a manner that prevents cross-contamination. 2)Wears proper protective attire when performing decontamination. 3)Follows established procedures to ensure decontamination completion and correct. 4)Sets up decontamination equipment for operation and ensures proper function and continuous work flow throughout the shift. 5)Maintains a neat and clean work area at all times. 6)Reports improper equipment operation to person in charge. 7)Handles infectious waste according to established hospital procedure. Implementation of Quality Improvement Ideas to Enhance Operation and Team Function 1)Identifies, discusses with manager the problem/improvement opportunities that will be focused on for the year. 2)Presents problem/improvement opportunities with an action plan. 3)Assists SPD supervisor in revision of policy and/or procedures. 4)Monitors quality assurance indicators and reports findings to the Manager and Supervisor. 5)Assists in precepting, mentoring and/or training of new technicians. Oversees Inventory of supplies and instruments. 1)Manages flow of loaners and consignment. 2)Manages non-conforming trays and ensures return to service in a timely fashion. 3)Oversees all instruments, maintains par levels, order as necessary. 4)Coordinates service and repair communications with vendors. 5)Maintains adequate par levels of all case cart supplies; assures that appropriate inventories are maintained for the operating room. Support and supervision of staff to assure efficient utilization of staff activities. 1)Monitor all sterilizing, decontamination, cleaning, processing, storage and delivery of supplies activities. 2)Prepare work schedule to assure appropriate staff coverage 3)Coordinate daily assignments, make adjustments to accommodate work flow. 4)Prepares shift report to facilitate communication of work assignments using the Daily Management Board. 5)Checks the surgery schedule; communicates instrumentation priorities to the shift. 6)Tracks and analyzes associate productivity, sets productivity standards and provides feedback to associates and Manager/Supervisor on a regular basis. 7)Ensures daily processes for scanning, loaner, consignment and holds sales representative accountable to agreed upon delivery timeframes and reports issues to Manager and/or Supervisor. Education/Experience Required: -High school diploma. -2-3 years SPD experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: -Ability to communicate and follow directions. -Computer skills. -Experienced in operating sterilization and monitoring equipment. -Certified Sterile Processing Tech Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: -ETO exposure. -Exposure to blood/body fluids. -Heavy lifting 30-40lbs. -Hepatitis vaccination at hire. -TB testing yearly. -Ability to respond quickly to emergent situations. -Strength/dexterity to handle surgical instruments/equipment -Ability to access all areas of the department -Ability to physical respond to fire, trauma disaster and ETO codes. -Ability to be on call for emergency situations. Demonstrates working knowledge and skills necessary to arrange for the provision of appropriate care for the newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric population of surgical patients.
Checks and restocks anesthesia carts, omnicells, operating rooms, machine drawers, etc. to ensure adequate par levels of items are maintained. Rechecks par levels throughout shift and restocks as needed.
Performs anesthesia machine check and shows competency with this skill.
Assembles IV fluid sets and transducer sets for anesthesia use per protocol.
Cleans all anesthesia equipment after use per departmental protocol.
Ensures all equipment, parts, and supplies are in working order, (monitors cables, leads, blood warmer, blood pressure cuffs, doppler probes, tubing, cannisters, airway carts and equipment), as well as calibrates and records results of daily equipment checks.
Assists the Anesthesiologist with the placement of lines, and is available during critical times (airway emergency, trauma, code blue).
Maintains supply inventory and assists with stocking equipment room throughout the shift.
Positions patients for anesthetic procedures.
Assists in the movement of anesthesia equipment from the operating room or storage area to outlying areas supported by anesthesia (NORA Locations).
Follows core specific set-up guidelines for all cases/cores assigned.
Physical Requirements
Frequent moderate to heavy lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying.
Frequent walking, standing, stooping and reaching.
Working conditions include a general hospital environment with frequent exposure to chemicals, pathogens, patient blood and body fluids and medical gases.
Fast-paced, high tension environment with sense of urgency for supplies and equipment.
Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required. Anesthesia Department or Nursing Assistant experience preferred.
BLS (adult and child) required within 90 days of employment.

Where You Will Work:
Progressive Care is a 16 bed unit, sometimes referred to as a “Step-Down Unit” for patients who are recovering from critical conditions but still require close monitoring and more frequent assessments than a standard unit can offer. Our Progressive Care is dedicated in providing patient and family centered care, while collaborating with the healthcare team, including physicians/providers, specialists, case management, respiratory therapists, and more to ensure each patient receives the most complete care. Our low nurse to patient ratio, multiple nurse aides, and out of staffing charge nurse ensures quality care, frequent monitoring, and exceptional customer service.

We’re Looking For:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Successful completion of an approved dysrhythmia course during first week of hire and must pass dysrhythmia test during first week of orientation.
What You’ll Do:
- Ensures continuous telemetry monitoring is established and documentation is maintained.
- Ensures monitoring equipment is functioning correctly.
- Ensures dysrhythmias or rhythm changes are communicated timely.
- Maintains knowledge and skills related to dysrhythmia monitoring.
- Participates in quality improvement projects.
- Supports provision of age/developmental appropriate care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the age groups served.
- Promotes efficient use of fiscal resources.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of various dysrhythmias
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Basic computer skills
- Strong communication skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stretching, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must speak and understand English in good understandable terms.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and operation of applications within application scope which includes documenting and evaluating current systems, recommending, and justifying improved systems, contributing to priorities for system implementation, staffing resources, and developing the conceptual design for each improved application.
- Ensures that applications are designed and interfaced in a manner, which satisfies the users of the systems, and that all information is maintained, accessible, and integrated to satisfy both providers and users. Serves as the primary contract for operational leadership in the corresponding application areas.
- Responsible for executing and providing the results and conclusions of all phases of system applications, as defined by the long-range systems plan and the conceptual design, are accomplished according to established time frames. Communicates accordingly with various users, committees, and affiliates related to system plans, designs, and project status.
- Consults with users to identity, evaluate and formulate strategies to deal with opportunities for improvement in applications. Manages and provides support for changes/enhancements ensuring proper analysis, testing, change management and user input processes are followed.
- Assists with the management of hardware, software and/or consultant contracts and service agreements. Establishes and maintains vendor relationships.
- Leads multiple projects in all aspects of information systems lifecycle (information planning, business requirements definition, implementation, productions support).
- Oversees the development, execution, administration, and evaluation of information systems processes and mechanisms to support the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.

Position Title
Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Surgical Technologist, under the direction of the Registered Nurse and the Nurse Manager, handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the surgical procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. - Provides surgical assistance. Places sterile drapes on the patient to establish the sterile operating field. Participates in the time-out process to verify the correct patient, procedure, and surgical site. Anticipates the needs of the surgical team based on knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology and how they relate to the surgical patient and the patient's surgical procedure. Prepares and passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon. Sponges and suctions the surgical site to provide clear visibility. Prepares and cuts suture material as directed by the surgeon. Prepares and utilizes irrigation solutions during surgery as directed by the surgeon. Prepares and passes medications and hemostatic agents utilized during a surgical procedure (excluding drug administration). Prepares and passes off specimens as appropriate. Holds retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeon. Applies electrocautery to clamps or forceps on bleeding vessels as directed by the surgeon. - Previous teaching experience preferred
- Current RN licensure in the State of Michigan.
- Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse in specialty area of practice. Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges.

Round, inspect and maintain all assigned areas within scope of facility. POSITION SUMMARY
This position demonstrates accountability for operating room readiness ensuring sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable supplies are complete and ready for a procedure prior to the preceding patient leaving the operating room. Responsible for the proper care and handling of all general and specialty instrumentation including the cleaning, decontamination, disassemble/reassemble, quality assurance, instrument identification, set assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instrumentation for PeriOp Services, hospital departments, and clinics.
CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Provides decontamination and sterile processing support to PeriOp Services, ED, ICU, hospital wide departments, clinics both on and off campus, and ambulatory surgery centers. Provides various levels of service for the management of sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable patient care supplies. Support may-or-may-not include, decontamination of surgical instruments, assembly/sterilization, sterile instrument storage, partial or complete case cart support, OR core tech support and high-level disinfection. 2. Responsible for the decontamination, assembly, and packaging of surgical instruments following established protocols, instructions for use (IFU) as well as performs required quality assurance, repairs, reassembly, documentation, sterility handling, and storage of specialized surgical instruments. Maintains required sterilization logs and quality assurance records relating to all equipment associated for the purpose of decontamination, HLD disinfection, and sterilization. 3. Ability to interpret the surgical schedule and medical terminology as it pertains to scheduled procedures requiring sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable supplies needed. Able to address and communicate special needs to minimize delays to surgery. Responds to emergent calls from the Operating Room and performs preliminary investigation. Determines priority level of instrumentation requests and other hospital needs. Directs services in a competent and professional manner while assuring OR priorities are completed in a timely manner. 4. Able to differentiate surgical instrumentation that is surgery owned, consignment/loaner, hospital depart, surgeon, ambulatory surgery center, and clinics both on and off campus. Completes necessary tracking of surgical instruments with a paper log sheet or computer process for instrumentation leaving the area. Reports needed replacement of surgical instruments to maintain the inventory and support readiness of sets. 5. Utilizes specialized equipment for the decontamination, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation according to the device and equipment manufacturer’s recommendations and hospital policy. Operates steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers of various. Operates automated surgical instrument washers, ultrasonics, flush pumps, visualization devices, and cart washers to include high-level disinfectors where supported. 6. Operates various quality assurance testing equipment associated to flexible endoscopic scopes, transesophageal ultrasound probes, and electro-surgical insulation defect detector for laparoscopic and energy provided surgical instrumentation. Utilizes heat detection devices to allow steam sterilized surgical instrumentation to be released for use without risking burns to staff and patients. Operates demagnetizers of stainless-steel instruments for ophthalmic and delicate cardiac surgical instrumentation for safe use on patients. Utilizes various borescope devices to inspect inner channels of lumened surgical instrumentation and flexible scopes.
7. Maintains a clean and safe environment by adhering to Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices. Staff follow protocols for proper donning of personnel protective equipment (PPE) while completing the decontamination process referencing IFU’s supplied by the manufacturers.
8. Maintain flexibility to rotate shifts and adjust hours as needed, maintain a work record of regular attendance, timely arrivals, and departures, maintain professional appearance appropriate to position and function.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Must have mechanical aptitude with the ability to break down moving parts, clean, lubricate and reassemble, problem solve incomplete trays and missing instrumentation and have effective organizational, communication and human relation skills. As a Monitor Technician, you will be part of a team in charge of all patient's requiring cardiac monitoring within the facility. You will be required to watch between 40 and 60 patients cardiac rhythms for abnormalities and alarms. You are also responsible for escalating changes and recognizing dangerous rhythms and notifying the healthcare team.
Schedule: Full-time (3-12 hour) Day and Night shift, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
