SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Sterile Processing Manager and or direction of the Sterile Processing Supervisor, identifies, inspects, assembles and sterilizes equipment, supplies and procedure trays. Packages, cleans and decontaminates routine surgical instruments, patient care equipment and monitors sterilizers and associated equipment. Responsible for stocking of supplies &instruments and orients and trains other Technicians. Displays familiarity with case cart process, instrument pick lists and instrument repair process. Demonstrates willingness to learn all aspects of the Sterile Processing Department including, but not limited to, surgical services, outside clinics Orthopedics, Cardiac, Neuro, Vascular, Transplant and Gynecological Instrumentation, Implant trays, Power equipment, Flexible endoscopes and the Instrument Management System.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures proper decontamination of surgical instruments, syringes, and equipment in order to clean, identify and inspect.
· Processes procedure trays, instruments sets, orthopedic sets and equipment through the decontamination room according to established cleaning procedures.
· Performs leak test and decontamination for various endoscopes according to established procedures.
· Utilizes detergents, disinfectants, and washers in a prescribed manner for proper cleaning/ decontamination and drying, following standard precautions with no more than two documented errors annually.
Ensures proper assembly and packaging of instrument sets to allow proper sterilization.
· Inspects instrument sets for cleanliness. Checks or tests instrumentation for sharpness, burrs and function. Assembles and wraps instrument equipment trays following the established procedure for each tray.
· Labels and initials all assembled procedure trays making sure that all quality control monitors have been placed accurately.
· Operates steam (flash and prevac), EPS Scope Processor and other equipment relating to sterilization of supplies, according to written Q.A. procedures.
· Identifies and checks instruments for proper operation and overall condition according to established procedures with no more than two documented errors annually.
Conducts biological monitoring for all sterilizers.
· Performs BowieDick and biological testing of all sterilizers in the department and operating room daily in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
· Incubates, interprets and records results of all biological tests.
· Immediately implements recall procedures when positive biological testing is encountered, notifying all affected departments, Sterile Processing Supervisor. Prepares O.R. case carts and performs Distribution rounds.
· Maintains prescribed inventory levels for each cart.
· Ensures proper rotation of all supplies and carts within and out of the department, as observed by supervisors.
· Prints operating room schedule pick listsdd on lists according to procedure and accurately assembles case carts for surgery.
· Performs distribution and pick-up daily on nursing units for instrumentation. Monitors the workflow and communication of designated shifts to ensure the completion of work assignments.
· Assumes the role of SPD Tech Charge person when assigned and to assist in the assignment of workload to SPD Techs when in charge, taking in consideration priority of work and skill of employee as demonstrated by assignments being completed on time.
· Completes all required documentation (shift reports) when assigned charge responsibility.
· Answers telephone in a courteous manner according to department policy, maintaining complete and accurate records of all messages and requests.
· Coordinates the day-to-day needs of the operating room based on schedule and communicates effectively to SPD department. Incorporates these needs into owns daily assignments.
· Submits suggestions to facilitate the workflow of the department.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department.
· Cleans, inspects and maintains equipment according to written procedures, as observed by supervisors.
· Performs routine cleaning of all areas and carts as scheduled and/or when needed.
· Adheres to all safety procedures with particular attention to the operation of sterilizers.
· Promotes professional image by adhering to the established dress code of the hospital and wearing the name badge as evidenced by supervisor's observation.
· Maintains confidentiality of information obtained in the performance of duties.
· Maintains inventory control systems for procedure trays and equipment.
· Monitors supply availability during performance of duties and reports low levels to group leaders or supervisor.
Supports training and orientation of new personnel to department.
· Assists and works with orientating new staff to various department assignments.

STANDARD STAFFING LEVEL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives. Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations. Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements. Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients, and visitors. Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance. Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
High School Graduate or equivalent with the ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Having a Sterile Processing Certification through the Health Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or its equivalent is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Required three to six months previous related work experience demonstrating familiarity with surgical instrumentation, decontamination and sterilization techniques, and stock room functions. Such experience may have been obtained by performing related duties in central services, surgical reprocessing, or a surgical stock room.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Visual and manual dexterity to operate automatic washers and sterilization equipment according to equipment operating instructions. Physical ability to stand for long periods of time, to lift and carry moderately heavy surgical trays, to push carts into sterilization unit and to receive and store supplies, materials and equipment. General hospital environment with normal conditions associated with patient care.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Follow policies and procedures referring complex situations to supervisor.

$20.80 - $31.20- Processes and maintains proper care of all surgical instruments and equipment, scopes and powered surgical instruments which includes inspection, evaluation of proper function, cleaning disinfecting and sterilization. Maintains quality control and documentation records of the sterilization process. Distributes designated supplies and equipment to all areas of the medical center.
- Receives soiled and contaminated items in decontamination area. Sorts equipment, rinses as needed, places equipment through sonic tanks and washers, reassembles trays, performs safety checks, hangs and sorts instruments, wraps sets according to set policy, and wraps towels and basins appropriately.
- Sterilizes instruments and equipment using the aerator, gas sterilizer or steam sterilizer and operates glass dryer. Packages items in steri/peel as required. Performs quality assurance testing for all methods of sterilization to ensure sterility of supplies. Hand cleans miscellaneous instruments (Baxter pump, hypothermo units, etc.) and operates the cart cleaner.
- Ensures proper care and handling of high cost instrumentation and equipment to include items requiring special handling, laser instrumentation, orthopedic implants, cardiac assist devices, endoscopic and microscopic instrumentation.
- May build case carts according to procedure and physician preference as specified. File case cart sheets and requisitions, responds to Code 4s with defibrillator and back up supplies, maintains CPR annies, tests autoclaves with the tests according to procedure, and changes graphs as necessary.
- Checks incoming trays and follows up with departments as to missing instruments or parts.
- Takes immediate and appropriate action if a question of sterilizer failure occurs.
- Receives and records orders for supplies as requested by departments. Records accurate product number and assures all forms are correctly completed for proper billing. Marks, dates and stocks equipment, which may include returning to appropriate department on a timely basis.
- Opens and unpacks supply boxes, checking for damaged goods and number of items received. Reports any discrepancies to the supervisor. Performs credits for unused products returned, checks stock levels, copies supply sheets, checks carts for outdated supplies, and performs general cleaning of shelves.
- May performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.

Job Description:
The Surgical Technologist performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the Surgical Technologist will support system wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.
Schedule and Shift
This position is part time at 32 hours per week. The schedule for this position is Tuesday -Friday from 7AM - 3:30PMwith some variation. Call is required and will be one night per week and one weekend per month.
Essential Functions
- The Surgical Technologist has accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
- Maintains the sterile field and a safe environment.
- Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes.
- Prepares the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure.
- May assist with sterile processing.
- Will assist the surgeon(s) during the procedure but stays within the ORT scope of practice.
- Identifies emergency situations and exercise judgement when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies.
- On completion of the procedure, the tech will assist with room turnover, cleaning, and prepare for the next procedure.
- Has a pathway opportunity identified for advancement to ORT II, III and IV.

- Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, or:Graduated from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months (not eligible for Tech in Surgery exam), orTwo years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three years, orInternational training equivalent and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Competent in basic procedures or one or more specialty areas/facility case mix.

In addition to meeting Level I requirements, to qualify for a Level II/III role, you must also meet the following requirements:

- Prior approval from the Surgical Services Director Council must be obtained before caregivers are moved into this role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist with 1+ years of experience.
- Surgical Technologist with proficiency scrubbing into Ortho, Robotics, General Surgery, GYN, ENT, and Urology cases.
- Active National Certification as an OR Tech in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist. Certification is expected within the timeframe outlined below.
- Certification is required after hire as follows:Surgical Technologists who graduated from an accredited program must certify within one year of hire (may use either NBSTSA or NCCT certification).Surgical Technologists who have graduated from non-accredited programs or completed on-the-job or military training, need to certify as soon as possible. This can be done upon graduation or, according to the NCCT requirements, take beyond one year in order to meet worked hours (>6000) and case tracking requirements. Managers will need to meet with new hires and determine certification course, projected certification window, and track progress
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

This position is responsible for independently implementing preventive maintenance, electrical safety and performance verification, bench and field service repairs on most medical electronic equipment. 2. Installs, repairs, and calibrates a wide variety of complex patient care equipment, medical communications equipment, PCs, and clinical applications networks to board/module level and occasionally component level through an understanding of electronics theory and applications and fundamentals of LAN networking. Reads detailed electronic schematics. Troubleshoots equipment, instrumentation, and systems utilizing applicable test equipment.
3. Performs scheduled/preventive maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and quality assurance on all patient care equipment in a timely manner consistent with regulatory standards. Monitors and oversees the work of external contractors/vendors engaged in repair work.
4. Provides customer relations and resolves equipment service problems by ensuring that clinical capability is restored as quickly as possible. Maintains communication with customers regarding the status of equipment repairs. Proactively solves technology issues when appropriate. Coordinates/schedules service (self, vendor and, when appropriate, other technicians) via management of customer expectations. Performs device investigations related to regulations and/or incident reporting.
5. Identifies the need for patient care equipment education and provides user (physician, nursing, other allied health staff) education on medical equipment.
6. Trains field technicians with less expertise in preventative maintenance and repair of medical equipment, and service delivery methods.
7. Documents all work performed, maintains parts, supplies, tools, test equipment and technical literature by completing service reports and supplemental productivity documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains an accurate and current parts inventory. Assists manager in maintaining a comprehensive library of technical literature.
8.This position has a service responsibility in several departments in multiple facilities: regionally and system wide. Customers are internal and external (including physicians, nurses, other hospital and HMO personnel, veterinary clinics, surgery centers, walk-in customers, etc.). This position receives direction from the Senior Biomedical Technician or the department leadership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a strong knowledge of electronics as normally obtained through the completion of an Associate’s degree in electronics or related field or equivalent training. Must have five years of progressively responsible work experience with applicable specialty equipment.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
Must be proficient at reading and analyzing schematic diagrams, including analog and digital circuits and possess a working knowledge of electrical and electronic fundamentals, including DC and AC circuits, semiconductor theory, digital circuit theory and microprocessor theory. Must also be proficient in Windows PC and network operating systems, PC repair, and have fundamental knowledge in Local Area Network configuration and troubleshooting. Must be knowledgeable in applicable accreditation and regulatory standards for the Environment of Care. Must have highly developed interpersonal skills.

This position is responsible for installing, repairing, calibrating, preventative maintenance, electrical safety and performance verification, bench and field service on most medical equipment at the board/module level with assistance or direct supervision. Travel across multiple sites may be required.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Installs, repairs, and calibrates clinical equipment at a component level. Inspects incoming equipment for compliance with codes, standards and manufacturer’s recommendations.
2. Performs scheduled/preventive maintenance, electrical safety inspections, and quality assurance consistent with applicable regulatory standards on assigned medical equipment in a timely manner.
3. Repairs patient care equipment, medical communications equipment and PCs to board/module level through and understanding of electronics theory and applications including operating systems and PC repair. Reads detailed electronic schematics. Troubleshoots equipment using available test equipment. Monitors the work of outside contractors/vendors engaged in equipment repair.
4. Provides customer relations and resolves equipment service problems by ensuring that clinical capability is restored as quickly as possible. Maintains communication with customers regarding the status of equipment repairs. Proactively solves technology issues when appropriate. Coordinates/schedules service (self, vendor and, when appropriate, other technicians) via management of customer expectations. Performs device investigations related to regulations and/or incident reporting under supervision if applicable.
5. Documents all work performed, maintains parts, supplies, tools, test equipment and technical literature by completing service reports and supplemental productivity documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains an accurate and current parts inventory. Assists manager in maintaining a comprehensive library of technical literature.
6. Assists with equipment installations and project work involving patient care, medical communications technology, and clinical application networks.
7. Trains field technicians with less expertise in preventative maintenance and repair of medical equipment, and service delivery methods when appropriate.
8. This position has service responsibility in several departments in multiple facilities: regionally and system wide. Customers are internal and external (including physicians, nurses, other hospital and HMO personnel, veterinary clinics, surgery centers, walk-in customers, etc.) This position receives direction from senior level Biomedical Technicians or department leadership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a strong knowledge of electronics as normally obtained through the completion of an Associate’s degree in electronics or related field or equivalent training. Must have a minimum of two years of related experience with applicable specialty equipment.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy
Must possess a working knowledge of electricity, AC/DC electronics including power supplies, electro/mechanics including motors and motor controls, and hydraulics/pneumatics. Must be knowledgeable in medical terminology and basic physiology. Must also be proficient in PC repair and Windows PC and network operating systems.

Job Summary:
The Patient Access Coordinator makes patient appointments and reminder calls. Greets and registers and checks in or out all patients. Verifies demographic and insurance coverage information and enters into appropriate system/patient record. Collects co-pays and other payments and prepares daily deposit & reconciliation report. Receives and accurately and timely relays all phone messages to and from providers and logs them appropriately. Also provides clerical/secretarial support to the office as needed by typing correspondence and reports, sorting and delivering mail, processing incoming and outgoing faxes and ordering and maintaining supplies.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures/Certifications/Registrations Required:
A. High school diploma or equivalent.
B. Computer skills required.
C. Medical terminology skills preferred.
D. Prior medical office experience preferred.

Full-Time 1p - 9:30p
We are currently seeking a dedicated Anesthesia Technician to join our team at Baptist Health Hardin. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment problems on the gas analyzers, monitors, and anesthesia machines and performs basic preventive maintenance on anesthesia machines, gas analyzers, and monitors.
Stocks and cleans all anesthesia carts, machines, and monitors in the Operating Room and Labor & Delivery surgical suites at the beginning and end of each work period.
Sets up IV lines (without medications), arterial lines, as directed by Anesthesia provider.
Assists anesthesia providers by ordering supplies and keeping anesthesia workroom clean.
Performs as a member of the surgical team in optimizing room turnaround time.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Preferred Requirements:
Recent experience in specialty.

Position Summary
The Emergency Services Technician offers an excellent opportunity in supporting patient care and covering administrative and clinical procedures. Working in collaboration across a team of practitioners, you will ensure the best possible health care outcomes and patient experiences.
Responsibilities:
- You will assist in providing direct patient care as directed by health care practitioner
- You will engage your critical thinking skills in maintaining a safe, therapeutic and aesthetic environment.
- You will utilize the knowledge base of nursing education and experience to deliver nursing care using the nursing process according to hospital policies, procedures, and protocols
- Collaborate with the team to facilitate overall improvement in quality of care, patient experience, and cost reduction
- Foster a learning environment for patients/families, nursing staff, and other members of the health care team
- Advocate for ethical and holistic care promoting the autonomy, dignity, and health of patients from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current Washington state certification/licensure as a CNA or NA-R, MA-P, MA-C or successful completion of EMT Training Course
- MA-P or EMT will be required to obtain NA-R within 180 days of hire
- CNA, NA-R, or EMT will be required to obtain MA-P within a specified date as determined by location; Mary Bridge Hospital and Yakima locations does not require the MA-P
- Current BLS Certification
- Previous experience as a CNA, NA-R, corpsman, or EMT, in an emergency department, pre-hospital, or acute care setting within the last three (3) years preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.78 - $37.71 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education.
