At Houston Methodist, the Medical Laboratory Technician position is responsible for performing both routine and complex analyses, which necessitates knowledge of laboratory techniques, principles, and equipment and their interrelationship. This position exercises good judgment by using critical thinking skills and deals with issue resolution concerning the day-to-day technical operation of the laboratory. The Medical Laboratory Technician also ensures that specimens are accessioned and processed expeditiously in order to deliver quality laboratory results in an effective and cost-efficient manner.

- Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses and Registrations section

- Must have one of the following within one year of hire/transfer into this role: • MLT – Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) • CLA – Certified Laboratory Assistant (ASCP) • MLT – Medical Laboratory Technician (AMT)

- Performs qualitative and quantitative tests and examination using various analyzers and/or manual methods.
- Organizes workload and sets priorities. Utilizes all available work time by assisting others and performing additional tasks.
- Meets turnaround time expectations as defined by management.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrates the six elements of competency for test systems used to generate patient test results in all areas assigned to work.
- Recognizes, investigates and helps resolve test discrepancies. When problems arise, takes appropriate action to investigate and address and notifies management and the medical director for follow-up.
- Performs instrument calibrations, validations, quality control testing, maintenance, and function checks.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Adjusts work schedule to accommodate departmental/organizational needs. Appropriately utilizes the time recording system.
- Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Restocks section inventory levels as needed.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Knowledge of ECG rhythms, as well as knowledge of the monitoring system and the ability to review trends and alarms.
Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged and/or extensive sitting, standing, and walking.
Principal Accountabilities
Provides precise continual surveillance and analysis of cardiac rhythms on electrocardiographic central monitoring station, documenting per established procedure; interprets ECG rhythms, recognizes significant ECG events.
Escalates significant or life-threatening changes immediately, utilizing appropriate ECG algorithm, to a Registered Nurse, as appropriate; communicates information in a clear, concise and accurate manner to the responsible individual within established timeframe.
Obtains rhythm strips per hospital cardiac telemetry procedure; operates and troubleshoots all functions of the telemetry monitoring system; accounts for all monitors at the end of each assigned shift.
Admits, transfers, and discharges patient and enters all required information in telemetry monitoring system.
Provides and ensures the highest level of service according to established service standards, optimizing the patient experience.
Successfully completes MHHS dysrhythmia examination.
Performs other duties as assigned, within scope of responsibility and clinical competency.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

Job Duties:
May perform a wide variety of advanced patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and maintains the patient care and unit environment consistent with the policies, procedures, and practices. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
- Provides enhanced patient care under the direction of the licensed nurse, which may include but is not limited to advanced dressing care, suctioning, removal of Foley Catheter and peripheral IV.
- May perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines.
- May perform daily, hands-on aspects of the storage, preparation and delivery of breast milk, infant and pediatric formulas.
- Documents in the appropriate sections to create a complete and accurate medical record.
- Identifies, observes, and documents the physical needs of the patient according to established standards. Reports any changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner.
- Obtains and maintains the integrity of specimens in accordance with policy and procedure, according to physician order.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Partners with leadership on high-priority institutional efforts, including the BILH collaboration, MGB separation, and new cancer hospital, to assess readiness impacts, identify adoption risks, and coordinate scaled implementation approaches across affected departments and teams.
- Leads adoption and implementation strategy for major enterprise initiatives, translating strategic objectives into structured readiness, stakeholder engagement, communications, training, and sustainment plans that support successful operational execution with constant attention to information security.
- Works closely with the Epic change management teams at Dana-Farber and BILH to support enterprise readiness planning, stakeholder alignment, workflow adoption, and implementation support for disease center waves and Epic-to-Epic conversion. Collaborate with Workday Digital Adoption, Enablement, and Operations to align approaches, tools, and lessons learned across platforms as they evolve.
- Designs and facilitates stakeholder analyses, readiness assessments, impact assessments, workshops, sponsor alignment sessions, and other structured activities to clarify change implications, build leadership ownership, and support successful adoption at all levels of the organization. Leads the Change Ambassador Council, comprised of selected DFCI and BILH resources, to drive successful change across both organizations.
- Develops and maintains adoption methodologies, templates, toolkits, communication assets, training support materials, and implementation frameworks that strengthen institutional capability and promote consistent approaches to change across initiatives. Helps build and support a centralized digital adoption function in Information Services to proactively spearhead constant growth and change in technology impacting digital, clinical, and business functions.
- Establishes adoption metrics, dashboards, and feedback mechanisms to evaluate implementation progress, measure behavior and process adoption, identify barriers, and recommend corrective actions or sustainment strategies based on data and stakeholder input.
- Serves as a strategic advisor to project leaders, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders by providing consultation, coaching, and recommendations related to adoption planning, risk mitigation, resource needs, governance, and implementation sequencing.

Summary:
Performs all pathology clerical and secretarial duties using anatomic and laboratory computer systems. Files, locates, and retrieves materials from files as requested. Answers telephone inquiries regarding surgical pathology and handles send outs and case coordination of consults for the department.
Responsibilities:
Manages work ques of registration and billing discrepancies.Facilitates retrieval of pathology material at the request of pathologist, physicians, patient’s and outside institutions to assist the physician and/or patient in ordering/obtaining additional testing/results, second opinion consultations and/or continued care and treatment both within HMH or to other healthcare systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance in all aspects of incoming requests/inquiries.Transcribes recorded material, including pathology reports, autopsy reports, addendums, letters, etc.Triage all above duties by priority, complete all required duties with efficiency and accuracy and perform any/all other duties as assigned.Files and retrieves surgical, cytology and bone marrow reports, slides and blocks. Discards materials after 10 years.Prepares reference laboratory specimens for transport and assures reference reports are delivered, filed, and forwarded to the ordering clinician.Prepares and retrieves reports and information sufficient for pathology presentation portion of Tumor Board conferences.Answers telephones, takes messages accurately, screens calls, and directs calls to appropriate personnel; provides varied information to callers.Processes billing and obtain accurate demographic and insurance information for third party accounts receivable/payable. Field all incoming telephone calls and customer service-related duties with respect to Anatomic Pathology/laboratory inquiries; maintenance of all office files/records and system documentation according to department policy.Prepare, arrange for transportation and send out slides and blocks for consultation, specimens for special studies, and slides and blocks for special stains.

Position Summary
The Central Service Technician works as a team member and is responsible for providing support to the total health care team at MultiCare Health System by cleaning, sterilizing, and packaging instruments, maintaining inventory, and transporting supplies and equipment. Qualifications
Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technologist program or Associate in Applied Science degree.

POSITION PURPOSE
Provides Planned Maintenance (PM), safety testing, repairs, calibration, installation, routine and emergency service to general diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment, as assigned by the Clinical Engineering (CE) Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the mission, vision and core values of Trinity Health and the Ministry Organization in leadership behaviors, practices and decisions.
Performs PM procedures on multiple types of general and specialized clinical equipment.
Performs PM procedures using manufacturers' recommendations, standards or code requirements, as well as industry acceptable processes as guidelines.
Performs Corrective Maintenance (CM) procedures including diagnosing problems using thermodynamic, electronic/electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and/or other related sciences and documents results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory and standards requirements.
Notifies equipment users and Clinical Engineering Management of repair status and delays as necessary.
Interacts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems in scheduling and completing PM procedures while minimizing interference to hospital departments.
Determines need for replacement parts and supplies, selects the most cost effective source, and submits properly completed parts request using established policies and guidelines.
Completes corrective and planned maintenance work order documentation.
Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, works to accomplish team objectives and projects, and solicits feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member.
Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste.
Has authority (based on department guidelines) to order parts and supplies required for emergency service or repair of medical equipment. Recommends test equipment and spare equipment parts to the CE Manager or Lead Technician.
Provides on-call service coverage after normal business hours on a rotating basis, as assigned.
Performs other duties as assigned or requested by CE Manager.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws/regulations; the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct; as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of an Associates of Applied Sciences Degree in related field of medical electronics, electronic technology or equivalent military related training required.
One to two-years experience or equivalent, performing corrective and planned maintenance on medical equipment per policy.
Must have a basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
Working knowledge and ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the field. Ability to train CE associates on use and application of select test equipment.
Must have knowledge and understanding of OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, EOC, FDA and other specific regulations and standards pertaining to clinical equipment service and repair.
Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Trinity Health, Ministry Organizations, and Clinical Engineering.
Must have basic understanding of personal computer operation, applications, and ability to input data using keyboard. Technician must be able to follow complex written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken.
Ability to operate complex test equipment, analyze and interpret information provided by equipment and clinical staff to determine equipment operational condition.
Strong customer service and communications skills are required to interact with hospital personnel and vendors to achieve positive outcomes.
Ability to provide or coordinate in-service training to clinical/professional staff on medical device basic operational and safety functions.
