Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Dialysis Tech.
As a Dialysis Tech at MercyOne, you will assist with patient care in the dialysis unit by setting up equipment, initiating, monitoring and terminating dialysis treatments. Ages served are adolescent to adult.
- Monitors inventory levels, enters patient charges and orders in the computer, mixes dialysis concentrates and assists with monitoring and care of the water treatment system.
- Communicates with ancillary caregivers, patients and families regarding the patient’s needs and care.
- Documents patient care/assessment data on the appropriate dialysis run sheet record including but not limited to vital signs, patient subjective problems, pain rating, post dialysis status and access assessment.
- Demonstrates patient and colleague safety issues by regular and proper use of patient lifts and other equipment provided by the medical center.
- Follows policy for use of lifting equipment and gait belts to lift and transfer.
- Attends In-services on new equipment.
- Understands and demonstrates proficiency on unit specific equipment.
- Identifies opportunities to improve patient care.
- Meets unit specific competencies.
- Considers the cost of supplies with the delivery of care for each patient.
- Maintains knowledge of equipment and continuously learns new technology and is able to trouble shoot equipment, report malfunctioning equipment and ensure its repair and return to service.
Schedule:
- Full time .9 (36 hours per week)
- Day Shift
- Monday – Saturday; varied shifts 3:45 am – 5:00 pm
General Requirements:
- Graduate or active enrollment in a Medical Technological or professional school preferred.
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience or education in a health-related field.
- Must be BLS certified within 3 months.
- Must be certified under a state certification program or a national commercially available certification program within 18 months of hire. (Effective Oct. 2008.)
- Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Must be cable of problem solving, maintaining confidentiality, demonstrating compassion, empathy, and respect to all customers.
- Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
- Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission and vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
Education:
- High school diploma required.

What you’ll do:
The Certified Sterile Processing Technician decontaminates instruments, assembles trays and/or equipment, and sterilizes instrument trays for prescribed patient procedures.
Assembles case carts for specific surgical procedures. In response to the time-critical needs of the surgeon, nurses and OR team members, the SRP CP Technician processes a variety of highly specialized surgical instrument trays and powered surgical tools and implant devices, often in high pressure situations engendered by the life-threatening nature of unexpected trauma or technologically advanced surgical procedures.
Sterilizes instruments including quarantining instruments until the biological indicator (BI) is read negative. Documents information correctly regarding the BIs. Correctly documents all items in each sterilization load, including peel packs and trays. Informs manager, supervisor, or lead when there is a problem with a sterilization load and reprocesses as needed.

What you'll do:Â
Performs technical laboratory functions including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Immunology and Microbiology testing. Receives and processes specimens, examines specimens and records test results. Analyzes results using knowledge of test principles and clinical significance. Analyzes test quality per established performance standards. Provides test result information to approved callers and alerts appropriate personnel to abnormal test results for immediate action.
What you'll need:
Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required. (MT only)
Licensure: Certification, by a nationally recognized professional registry, within 1 year of employment is preferred
Experience: Clinical laboratory setting—through education or hands‑on work experience. Ten or more years of experience preferred.

If you are looking for dynamic learning opportunities, we invite you to join our surgical services team as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
Our Operating Room Suite consists of 15 procedure rooms providing the capacity to perform 50-60 cases on a daily basis. We perform approximately 18,000 surgical procedures annually. Recently upgraded, we provide an aseptic environment and state of the art instrumentation. The operating room is available to schedule inpatient and outpatient for major, minor and emergency surgical procedures 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position completes assistive tasks for the surgical team during all phases of procedural care, in support of the Main or Ambulatory Operating Room, Endoscopy, and CVMP department(s).                                                                                                                                                              Â

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides technical and clinical support to the perioperative team during a variety of surgical procedures. Performs duties as the primary scrub person by handling instrumentation, supplies and equipment. Anticipates the surgeon and procedural needs.

Graduate of an approved medically based and/or certificate program in Surgical Technology or,
Graduate of an accredited school for Licensed Practical Nursing and current licensure, or eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York working under the direction and supervision of providers and registered nurses in the procedural setting
Participates in orientation, annual competencies, continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge/skills related to specific areas of expertise as applicable, including but not limited to:

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Job Description:
The Surgical Technologist performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the Surgical Technologist, will support system wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.
Schedule and Shift
This position is full time at 40 hours per week. The schedule for this position is typically four-10s Monday-Friday, 7AM - 5:30PM with a rotating day off. There will be odd shift(1100-2300, 1900-0700, weekends) requirements once out of orientation. 3-6 shifts in an 8-week schedule period.
Essential Functions
- The Surgical Technologist has accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
- Maintains the sterile field and a safe environment.
- Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes.

Cleans, decontaminates, and processes reusable patient care equipment, instrumentation, endoscope, and accessories according to manufacturer’s instructions (IFU’s). Follows departmental policies and procedures, infection control standards, and state/federal regulations. Discerns and distinguishes colors to identify bio burden on instruments, scopes, and equipment.
7. Restocks accurately work areas with scopes, accessories, and supplies. Inventories and maintains adequate levels of disinfectants and scope cleaning solutions utilized in work areas. Plans scope turn around needs according to schedule
8. Places or returns scopes, instrumentation, supplies, or equipment to designated storage locations. Maintains egress corridors.
9. Cleans and disinfects equipment, scope containers, and transport bins
10. Reports and records missing and/or damaged scopes/accessories to leadership team. Handles inventory including repairs and loaners
11. Transports linens, trash, and bio hazardous materials according to established policies wearing PPE and ensuring correct signage is in place prior to transport.
12. Performs designated daily, weekly, and/or monthly cleaning tasks including transport devices, storerooms, procedural rooms, computers, monitors, warmers, carts, etc.
13. The Sterile Processing Technician ensures clean, functional, and well-stocked medical instruments and equipment. In this role, you’ll sterilize items through critical steps that protect patients from infection and support care teams. You’ll also build expertise in microbiology, infection control, and decontamination practices.

Monday through Friday from 2pm-10:30pm including a weekend on-call rotation.

This position demonstrates accountability for operating room readiness ensuring sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable supplies are complete and ready for a procedure prior to the preceding patient leaving the operating room. Responsible for the proper care and handling of all general and specialty instrumentation including the cleaning, decontamination, disassemble/reassemble, quality assurance, instrument identification, set assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instrumentation for PeriOp Services, hospital departments, and clinics.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides decontamination and sterile processing support to PeriOp Services, ED, ICU, hospital wide departments, clinics both on and off campus, and ambulatory surgery centers. Provides various levels of service for the management of sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable patient care supplies. Support may-or-may-not include, decontamination of surgical instruments, assembly/sterilization, sterile instrument storage, partial or complete case cart support, OR core tech support and high-level disinfection.
2. Responsible for the decontamination, assembly, and packaging of surgical instruments following established protocols, instructions for use (IFU) as well as performs required quality assurance, repairs, reassembly, documentation, sterility handling, and storage of specialized surgical instruments. Maintains required sterilization logs and quality assurance records relating to all equipment associated for the purpose of decontamination, HLD disinfection, and sterilization.
3. Ability to interpret the surgical schedule and medical terminology as it pertains to scheduled procedures requiring sterile surgical instrumentation and disposable supplies needed. Able to address and communicate special needs to minimize delays to surgery. Responds to emergent calls from the Operating Room and performs preliminary investigation. Determines priority level of instrumentation requests and other hospital needs. Directs services in a competent and professional manner while assuring OR priorities are completed in a timely manner.
4. Able to differentiate surgical instrumentation that is surgery owned, consignment/loaner, hospital depart, surgeon, ambulatory surgery center, and clinics both on and off campus. Completes necessary tracking of surgical instruments with a paper log sheet or computer process for instrumentation leaving the area. Reports needed replacement of surgical instruments to maintain the inventory and support readiness of sets.
5. Utilizes specialized equipment for the decontamination, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation according to the device and equipment manufacturer’s recommendations and hospital policy. Operates steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers of various. Operates automated surgical instrument washers, ultrasonics, flush pumps, visualization devices, and cart washers to include high-level disinfectors where supported.
6. Operates various quality assurance testing equipment associated to flexible endoscopic scopes, transesophageal ultrasound probes, and electro-surgical insulation defect detector for laparoscopic and energy provided surgical instrumentation. Utilizes heat detection devices to allow steam sterilized surgical instrumentation to be released for use without risking burns to staff and patients. Operates demagnetizers of stainless-steel instruments for ophthalmic and delicate cardiac surgical instrumentation for safe use on patients. Utilizes various borescope devices to inspect inner channels of lumened surgical instrumentation and flexible scopes.
7. Maintains a clean and safe environment by adhering to Standard Precautions and Infection Control practices. Staff follow protocols for proper donning of personnel protective equipment (PPE) while completing the decontamination process referencing IFU’s supplied by the manufacturers.
8. Maintain flexibility to rotate shifts and adjust hours as needed, maintain a work record of regular attendance, timely arrivals, and departures, maintain professional appearance appropriate to position and function.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
Must have mechanical aptitude with the ability to break down moving parts, clean, lubricate and reassemble, problem solve incomplete trays and missing instrumentation and have effective organizational, communication and human relation skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Complete national certification as an SPD Technician within one year of hire.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
Estimated Pay Range:
$17.67 - $26.50 / hour

- Required - Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license in the state of practice (if applicable), Â OR Generalist Trainee permit or Lab Assistant license in the state of practice (if applicable) and must obtain Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license within 90 days of hire.
- Required - ASCP, AMT or AAB generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist must be obtained within 90 days of hire. ASCP categorical or AAB individual discipline certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist ONLY if working in a designated Academic Medical Center facility.  Any incumbents certified by ASCP on or after January 1, 2004, must successfully complete the requirements of the ASCP's Certification Maintenance Program.

At Houston Methodist, the Endoscopy Technician II (Endo Tech) position, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or physician, is a proficient Endo Tech responsible for providing high quality support to the gastroenterology (GI) providers and other members of the healthcare team. This position is fully competent to assist with the preparation of GI endoscopy procedures related to preparation for and assisting with turnaround activities, which include cleaning and high-level disinfection processing of endoscopes and accessory equipment. The Endo Tech II position anticipates physician needs during endoscopy procedures, assists with the clean-up of the endoscopy suite, and acts as a mentor of others in the technician role. This position works independently, exercising sound judgment and executing above average clinical skills necessary for assisting with endo-related procedures.
