We aspire to the Five Rights of Laboratory Testing: performing the right test on the right patient at the right time for the right indicators leading to the right diagnostic decision.
Summary:
Prepares specimens for analysis by registering and accessioning orders via Laboratory Information Systems (clinical lab and/or anatomic pathology), verifying specimen acceptability.
Responsibilities:
Performs clerical duties. Also maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies. Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.·Provides laboratory customer service to include request for add-ons, specimen collection information, phlebotomy requests, result inquiry, etc.

What you will need:
Education: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM)
Experience: Two years experience in another Central Sterile Processing Area preferred. Certification will be required within 6 months of onboarding.
Special Qualifications: Knowledgeable in basic aseptic techniques, knowledgeable of the Sterilization process of equipment and supplies and knowledgeable of surgical instruments, equipment and supplies. Reasonably self-motivated, has the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:
Keeps up to date on policies, procedures, skills, and successful completion of competency surveys in a timely manner.
Able to troubleshoot/problem solve minor/unusual problems in a timely manner.
Completes required CE.
Able to access and understand procedure and policy manuals within department.
Follows SOP for specimen storage/handling/reference lab testing.
Develops a basic understanding of the operation of all instrumentation/equipment used according to SOP, department policies and procedures.
Utilizes Copath functions to appropriately track specimens (overdue, pending logs, etc.).
Utilizes the system to find patient/test information and test results.
Assists with procedures, small projects, as necessary.
Completes annual review of lab safety, hazardous material, infectious control procedures.
Restocks supplies as required.

The Critical Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner in the Critical Care and Emergency Department settings. This position is responsible for providing patients with menu and tray/patient meal service, for receiving and forwarding patient requests and communication to dietary staff when appropriate. Works to provide patient satisfaction with dietary and food services. This position is responsible for the diet office processes and may provide lead responsibility for diet office in absence of supervisor including making assignments for position coverage.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Visits patients to obtain or discuss menu selections based upon diet ordered. Using judgment, checks that patient selections are appropriate to the defined selections for the diet prescribed, and makes modified diet decisions whether in the diet office or on the patient unit as required. Enters or records all daily patient meal selections and preferences for one or more patient units. Provides patients with standard information for prescribed diet. Requests Dietary staff assistance when needed.
2. Provides diet office processing including editing patient menus, tallying daily menu item counts from patient menus and preparing production sheets.
3. May lead in patient tray assembly/patient meal service process, assure food presentation meets quality standards, and check patient trays for menu compliance. Position is responsible for the diet office processes.
4. May delivers and serves meals while making independent judgments about special requests, snacks and nourishments as assigned to patient rooms or nursing units.
5. Under minimal supervision, this position interacts with patients and families, other food service staff, nursing staff, and dietary staff. Requires the ability to follow a work routine with minimal supervision, to work quickly and correctly while providing good customer service and maintaining dietary, food quality and sanitation standards. Ensures that the diet office processes are completed and may provide lead responsibility in absence of supervisor, typically during evening and/or weekend shifts.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Requires reading, writing and mathematical skills.
Requires an understanding of nutrition services, common modified diets, and portion measures. Skills and knowledge in health care nutrition services typically gained through 3 years of related experience and/or education.
Ability to effectively lead assignments and reschedule staff assignments in the absence of supervisor as required. Requires the ability to work effectively with business computer software system and point of sale systems. Requires the ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required. Must have demonstrated effective customer service skills. Employees working at the Boswell Skilled Nursing Facility must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional skills and knowledge in health care nutrition services preferred. Bilingual skills preferred in some assignments.

- Disassembles and cleans critical reusable medical equipment in accordance with Manufacturer’s Instructions For Use (MIFU).
- Inspects, packages, and reassembles surgical instruments and trays according to established priority.
- Practices High Level Disinfection, Pre-Vaccuum Sterilization, Gravity Displacement Sterilization, and Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma Sterilization techniques in accordance with MIFUs.
- Practices record keeping and document control as defined in Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and recommendations from regulatory bodies.

Job Summary
Memorial Hermann Cypress seeks a Medical Lab Scientist to join our team. Position is part time.Schedule is 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
3-8 hour shifts per week including every other weekend.
Position is responsible for performing laboratory testing and procedures to support the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Fast-paced laboratory environment requires technical proficiency and interdisciplinary collaboration across multiple specialty areas. Position serves as a frontline resource in the laboratory, delivering timely, accurate, and critical diagnostic results to support comprehensive patient care.

Principal Accountabilities
• Manages daily laboratory operations including specimen collections, specimen processing, quality control, waived/moderate/high complexity testing, result reporting and distribution.
• Interprets, correlates, and verifies test results using knowledge of techniques, principles, and instrumentation.
• Maintains testing analyzers and corrective actions according to policy/procedure. Assists with instrument troubleshooting as needed.
• Performs clerical duties as required to maintain efficient workflow.
• Maintains ongoing education and test competencies according to the age/needs of the patient/populations served.
• Follows laboratory procedures while handling chemicals, biological specimens, or hazardous materials, ensuring a safe work environment.
• Directs personnel (as appropriate). Communicates exceptional circumstances to appropriate personnel. Interacts with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians, and patients as to specimens and orders coming into the Laboratory and/or reporting results out according to the policies and procedures of Laboratory Services.
• Supports point of care testing throughout the hospital.
• Supports blood bank operations for trauma services including massive transfusion protocols for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
• Processes reference laboratory specimens and monitors pending results, ensuring strict adherence to specialized send-out protocols and timely follow-up of test results; may process and perform testing on Memorial Hermann-approved research specimens as assigned.
• Gains/maintains functional knowledge of system computers and vendor software as required by job assignment.
• Complies with policies, procedures, and initiatives of Laboratory Services, the hospital, and the system; understands, communicates, and complies with standards and conditions set forth by various governmental and accrediting agencies including TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA, and CLIA.
• Supports system and hospital customer service and quality initiatives. Recognizes customer satisfaction issues and responds appropriately. Builds and maintains effective relationships with other employees. Develops an effective working relationship with all customers, solicits input, and collaborates with customers to implement mutually satisfying corrective actions.
• Ensures safe care for patients, staff, and visitors. Adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service. Maintains a commitment to the Performance Improvement process.

Additional Duties at the Texas Medical Center Laboratories
• Supports moderate and high complexity laboratory services for trauma, transplant, neonatal, ECMO, and other high-acuity patient populations at MH TMC.
• Performs additional TMC laboratory procedures as assigned such as special coagulation assays, sweat chloride collection and analysis, fetal hemoglobin (Kleihauer-Betke) staining, manual platelet counts, specialized CBC testing for intrauterine transfusions, and pneumocystis direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) testing.
• Supports Blood Bank operations for Level 1 trauma services including massive transfusion protocols for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients, specialized transfusion protocols for transplant, neonatal, and ECMO patients, exchange transfusions, and additional procedures for processing blood products.
