$19.80 - $29.70Essential Functions
- Demonstrates working knowledge and skills necessary to arrange for the provision of appropriate care for the newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric population of surgical patients.
- Checks and restocks anesthesia carts, omnicells, operating rooms, machine drawers, etc. to ensure adequate par levels of items are maintained. Rechecks par levels throughout shift and restocks as needed.
- Performs anesthesia machine check and shows competency with this skill.
- Assembles IV fluid sets and transducer sets for anesthesia use per protocol.
- Cleans all anesthesia equipment after use per departmental protocol.
- Ensures all equipment, parts, and supplies are in working order, (monitors cables, leads, blood warmer, blood pressure cuffs, doppler probes, tubing, cannisters, airway carts and equipment), as well as calibrates and records results of daily equipment checks.
- Assists the Anesthesiologist with the placement of lines, and is available during critical times (airway emergency, trauma, code blue).
- Maintains supply inventory and assists with stocking equipment room throughout the shift.
- Positions patients for anesthetic procedures.
- Assists in the movement of anesthesia equipment from the operating room or storage area to outlying areas supported by anesthesia (NORA Locations).
- Follows core specific set-up guidelines for all cases/cores assigned.
Frequent moderate to heavy lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying. Frequent walking, standing, stooping and reaching. Working conditions include a general hospital environment with frequent exposure to chemicals, pathogens, patient blood and body fluids and medical gases. Fast-paced, high tension environment with sense of urgency for supplies and equipment.

JOB SUMMARY:
Renders care to assigned patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) including assisting with direct patient care activities; preparing and stocking the Operating Room before and after surgery; gathering clean and sterile supplies; setting up sterile instrument fields; maintaining and monitoring aseptic techniques.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Graduation from a Surgical Technology program or from an accredited school of Nursing.
- OR experience is required.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
- Certification in specialty area preferred.

- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. REI - Embryology Lab DirectorThe University of Kansas Health System, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, is seeking a full-time Embryology Lab Director who will join the team and support the departmental mission of delivering the highest quality of care, as well as satisfying teaching, research, and academic responsibilities at the region's quaternary referral center.
The Embryology/ART Laboratory Director will provide leadership and oversight of the operational, technical and scientific functions of the embryology, andrology and phlebotomy laboratories. The Director will assume responsibility for and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and institutional standards. As a member of the clinical faculty, the director participates in education and supports the ongoing research and academic mission of the University of Kansas Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Director is expected to work in a highly collaborative manner with all clinical, educational and research partners.
The Director will work onsite at our REI office located in Overland Park, Kansas. We offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package.
Job Duties:
- Provide overall operational, administrative, technical, and scientific leadership for the ART laboratory and advise Division leadership regarding qualified laboratory personnel.
- Establish, implement, and oversee laboratory policies, protocols, standards, and procedures in collaboration with the Medical Director and applicable leadership.
- Oversee daily laboratory operations and perform laboratory procedures and testing as needed to support patient care and operational needs.
- Ensure laboratory testing and treatment methods are scientifically valid, clinically relevant, and appropriate to patient and program needs.
- Develop and oversee the laboratory’s quality management and quality assurance programs, including quality control, proficiency testing, quality improvement, corrective actions, and annual program review.
- Monitor laboratory performance and ensure accurate, timely, and medically reliable results, documentation, and communication of laboratory data.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and institutional requirements, including timely reporting of federally mandated ART data to SART and CDC.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate laboratory personnel; ensure staff maintain required competency, licensure, certification, and continuing education. Oversee the training and professional development of embryologists.
- Provide consultation to physicians and other clinical staff regarding laboratory aspects of patient treatment and management.
- Oversee selection and evaluation of laboratory equipment, methods, reagents, reference laboratories, and other resources to ensure quality, safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure laboratory facilities, equipment, environmental conditions, and information and record-management systems meet applicable safety, confidentiality, regulatory, and institutional requirements.
- Coordinate and participate in regulatory and accreditation inspections and self-assessments; review findings and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
- Support education and research activities related to reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) and participate in educational programs for medical and laboratory staff.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution OR
- Hold an earned doctoral degree; and
- Have at least 16 semester hours of doctoral level coursework in biology, chemistry, medical technology (MT), clinical laboratory science (CLS), or medical laboratory science (MLS); or
- An approved thesis or research project in biology/chemistry/MT/CLS/MLS related to laboratory testing for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of any disease or impairment of, or the assessment of the health of, human beings.

Our multidisciplinary thoracic oncology program is dedicated to advancing the prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of lung cancer through innovative research and exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
- Establish an innovative and externally funded research program focused on thoracic malignancies.
- Develop and lead translational and clinical research initiatives in areas such as tumor biology, molecular profiling, precision oncology, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, resistance mechanisms, and biomarker development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across oncology, pulmonology, pathology, radiology, surgery, and population health sciences.
- Design and conduct investigator-initiated studies and contribute to national cooperative group and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
- Partner with KUCC research cores, the Clinical Trials Office, Biostatistics, Pathology, and translational science programs to accelerate the development of novel diagnostics and therapies.
- Mentor graduate students, residents, clinical fellows, postdoctoral researchers, and junior faculty.
- Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present discoveries at national and international scientific meetings.
- Pursue extramural funding through NIH, NCI, Department of Defense, foundations, and other funding organizations.
- Participate in the growth and strategic development of the Thoracic Oncology research program.
Required Qualifications
- MD, DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree
- Board certified or board eligible in Medical Oncology
- Demonstrated expertise in thoracic malignancies, cancer biology, translational research, or related areas
- Evidence of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications
- Strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and academic excellence
- Record of, or strong potential for, obtaining extramural funding
Preferred Qualifications
- Established research program focused on lung cancer biology, precision medicine, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, cancer disparities, screening, or early detection

- Certified by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) required

Principal Accountabilities
- May function as lead technician/charge person on the shift as needed.
- Advanced knowledge of the Sterile Processing department rules, procedures and processes.
- Accurately handles and cares for instruments/equipment appropriately, including appropriate selection of cleaning agents, lubricants, examination for function, identification and assembly according to count sheet and preparation for sterilization.
- Identifies, documents, and reports equipment and tools in need of repair and ensures maintenance is completed.
- Organizes, prepares, assembles, and sterilizes instruments, equipment and supplies according to hospital/medical facility standards of sterilization.
- Correctly peel-pack supplies/instruments, wraps instruments for sterilization, and inspects each instrument for use, function, completeness, and cleanliness.
- Loads, monitors, operates and maintain different types of cleaning and sterilization equipment and machinery accurately and safely.
- Maintains records of all equipment and supplies, ordering of supplies as needed, and monitoring quality control and infection control standards.
- Communicate delays, supply, instrumentation and equipment problems, substitutions involving Operating Room and other areas.
- Increases knowledge base by accepting more complex assignments regularly.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
