Day shiftTo apply and contribute to the St. Joseph’s Health mission and values in performing a variety of clinical laboratory procedures and related duties in one or more laboratory sections following established procedures and protocols, which are used by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Under the supervision of the laboratory supervisor or the Laboratory Manager, The Medical Technologist (MT) is a clinical laboratory practitioner who performs clinical laboratory procedures and examination pursuant to established and approved protocols of the New York Department of Health in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, cytology, histology and/or transfusion services. May have frequent contact with laboratory personnel, hospital employees, physicians, pathologists, nursing personnel, visitors, laboratory personnel, vendors, and regulatory or accrediting agencies. All other duties, as assigned.
Education Requirements:
B.S. Degree in Medical Technology or related field
Current license from New York State Department of Education as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) required
Experience Requirements:
One year preferred
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability and familiarity with related technology.

Pay Range: $35.95-48.00
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location

$24.10 - $46.05Major Responsibilities:
- Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated. Monitors workflow and makes necessary adjustment to complete work in an appropriate time frame.
- Evaluates results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness. Follows prescribed policy in the reporting and notification of test results.
- Performs and documents calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment. Recognizes indicators of test and/or instrument malfunction; evaluates and implements appropriate corrections.
- Performs, documents and reviews quality control and quality assurance for improvement according to established protocol. Evaluates quality control results and takes corrective action when indicated.
- Ascertains that specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing. Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol.
- Provides general direction, training, competency review and technical l assistance to medical laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, and support staff. Assists in the development of education and training protocols; instructs students, residents and new team members as assigned.
- Assists in improving the quality and efficiency of laboratory procedures, policies, and processes. Ensures compliance with all accrediting agency standards, supporting CAP Regulatory requirements in an acute setting.
- Performs internal and external proficiency testing in the same manner as patient samples.
- Performs specialty testing in areas including transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry. Supports the disease specific accreditations of an institution by meeting turn- around time goals.
- Provides direct support and timely, accurate laboratory results for critical care departments such as the ED, ICU and OR during a high acuity patient event. This includes transfusion services, attending codes, performing testing on irretrievable samples, tissue grinding and gram stains, mass casualty procedures, and mass transfusion procedures.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Medical Technologist (MT) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification issued by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) needs to be obtained within 1 year, or
- Medical Technologist (MT) certification issued by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) needs to be obtained within 1 year.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences.
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or related field.

The Critical Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner in the Critical Care and Emergency Department settings. They assist the patient care team in performing various tasks and procedures for critically ill patients or patients requiring special skills or observation. Principal Accountabilities

Perform a variety of video EEG recordings (Routine / LTM / EMU) showing proficiency in all areas, including the International 10-20 system, and performing the EEG test according to ACNS Guidelines.

$30.70 - $46.05The Laboratory at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is seeking a Research Lab Technician to support NIH-funded research in artificial intelligence, medical imaging, computational pathology, and precision oncology.
The Research Lab Technician will work closely with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, clinicians, and collaborators on interdisciplinary projects involving large-scale clinical, imaging, pathology, and genomic datasets. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge biomedical AI research and is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing careers in biomedical research, data science, artificial intelligence, or advanced graduate and professional training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Curating, organizing, and managing large-scale clinical, imaging, pathology, and multimodal datasets.
- Performing data preprocessing, quality control, annotation, and documentation.
- Supporting computational analyses of CT, MRI, PET/CT, whole-slide pathology images, and multimodal biomedical data.
- Maintaining research databases, documentation, and data management pipelines.
- Preparing figures, tables, and supplementary materials for scientific manuscripts, presentations, and grant applications.
- Coordinating research activities with students, postdoctoral fellows, clinicians, and collaborators.
- Assisting with literature reviews, project organization, and general laboratory operations.
- Participating in laboratory meetings, journal clubs, and research presentations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

7. Assesses patients’ needs related to comfort, hygiene and range of motion and provides support accordingly.
