Job Description:
The Medical Technologist/MLS Advanced is an experienced Registered MLS/Med Tech who assists the Supervisor, Manager, or Coordinator with advanced technical functions within the department they are supporting. These caregivers operate at an advanced level, overseeing quality control, advanced instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. The Advanced MLS ensures department regulatory compliance and may assist with system and on-site CAP inspections. Caregivers in this role will gain valuable experience and knowledge to help prepare them for the workplace and career advancement into Technical or Supervisory positions.

Job Specifics:
- Benefits Eligible: Yes
- Shift Details: 4-10hr shifts per week. Shifts vary between 6:00am-4:30pm and 7:30am-6:00pm. Rotating weekend and holiday shifts, 14hr per day, 6:00am-8:00pm
- Additional Details: Oversight duties for Hematology, Coag & UA departments. Generalist and phlebotomy work will be required for this role.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures successful participation in external proficiency surveys by completing Proficiency testing entry and regulatory compliance
- Leading and assisting in Inventory Control
- Support the supervisor with personnel duties within the technical area, such as event investigations, training, and competency assessment.
- Support the supervisor with technical duties, such as AMRS, Correlations, recalls and instrument troubleshooting
- Leading and assisting with new instrument evaluation and implementation
- Developing and refining policies and procedures.
- May also attend or be selected to lead system Work Groups, supporting standardization initiatives within Laboratory Services.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory/medical technology science or chemical, physical, biological, or equivalent. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution. Applicants with chemical, physical, biological science or equivalent bachelor’s degree will be subject to education verification which may include transcript/credit evaluation by Laboratory Services Quality Assurance leadership, required.
- Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Scientist ASCP certification or equivalent as approved by the Manager and Human Resources. Certification must be maintained to remain in the job, required.
- Two years of clinical laboratory experience, required.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call, required.
- Montana applicants must have State Licensure to work in the State of MT, required.
- Foreign applicants must submit a foreign transcript by an acceptable agency approved by Laboratory Quality Assurance, required.
- Experience leading training and education of staff at all levels, Preferred.
- Experience developing, leading, implementing department initiatives, Preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Qualifications:
Registered Medical Lab Scientist ($35.60-$54.93 based on experience)

- Associates degree or at least 60 semester hours of an accredited MLT program along with national certification, MLT (ASCP or approved accrediting agency), or equivalent (military) certification as determined by Manager. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution. Education is verified, Required.
- OR - Completion of course work and internship requirements in a qualified MLT program and eligibility to sit for the BOC. Certification must be completed and documented within 6 months of hire to remain in the registered MLS role, Required.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include weekends, holidays and nights, Required.
- Montana Sites must have Montana State License: Can apply for temporary state license if waiting to sit for BOC., Required.
- Experience with laboratory information systems, Preferred.
- Experience in relevant areas of the clinical laboratory, Preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to use laboratory systems, databases, and spreadsheets. Preferred.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills using email, telephone, and in person, Preferred.

The University of Kansas Cancer Center (KUCC) is the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the region, serving patients across Kansas and western Missouri. Our multidisciplinary thoracic oncology program is dedicated to advancing the prevention, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of lung cancer through innovative research and exceptional patient care.
The selected candidate will benefit from exceptional institutional resources, including a new state-of-the-art cancer center currently under construction to support cutting-edge research and multidisciplinary care. Key Responsibilities
- Establish an innovative and externally funded research program focused on thoracic malignancies.
- Develop and lead translational and clinical research initiatives in areas such as tumor biology, molecular profiling, precision oncology, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, resistance mechanisms, and biomarker development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across oncology, pulmonology, pathology, radiology, surgery, and population health sciences.
- Design and conduct investigator-initiated studies and contribute to national cooperative group and industry-sponsored clinical trials.
- Partner with KUCC research cores, the Clinical Trials Office, Biostatistics, Pathology, and translational science programs to accelerate the development of novel diagnostics and therapies.
- Mentor graduate students, residents, clinical fellows, postdoctoral researchers, and junior faculty.
- Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present discoveries at national and international scientific meetings.
- Pursue extramural funding through NIH, NCI, Department of Defense, foundations, and other funding organizations.
- Participate in the growth and strategic development of the Thoracic Oncology research program.
Required Qualifications
- MD, DO, MD/PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree
- Board certified or board eligible in Medical Oncology
- Demonstrated expertise in thoracic malignancies, cancer biology, translational research, or related areas
- Evidence of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications
- Strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and academic excellence

Preferred Qualifications

Principal Accountabilities
- May function as lead technician/charge person on the shift as needed.
- Advanced knowledge of the Sterile Processing department rules, procedures and processes.
- Accurately handles and cares for instruments/equipment appropriately, including appropriate selection of cleaning agents, lubricants, examination for function, identification and assembly according to count sheet and preparation for sterilization.
- Identifies, documents, and reports equipment and tools in need of repair and ensures maintenance is completed.
- Organizes, prepares, assembles, and sterilizes instruments, equipment and supplies according to hospital/medical facility standards of sterilization.
- Correctly peel-pack supplies/instruments, wraps instruments for sterilization, and inspects each instrument for use, function, completeness, and cleanliness.
- Loads, monitors, operates and maintain different types of cleaning and sterilization equipment and machinery accurately and safely.
- Maintains records of all equipment and supplies, ordering of supplies as needed, and monitoring quality control and infection control standards.
- Communicate delays, supply, instrumentation and equipment problems, substitutions involving Operating Room and other areas.
- Increases knowledge base by accepting more complex assignments regularly.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.

Responsibilities
- Performs laboratory testing on blood and body fluid specimens, including specimen collection, processing, analysis, and result reporting.
- Ensure accurate, timely testing and maintain quality control, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Monitors specimen integrity, identifies testing issues, and follows corrective action procedures when needed.
- Maintains compliance with safety, infection control, confidentiality, PPE, and regulatory requirements.

Shifts are varied. Mainly: 6:00a-2:30p or 6:30a-3:00p. Possible evening of off shift to cover vacations and volume surges. Those shift times are: 11-7:30p off-shift or 2:00p-10:30p or 2:30p-11:00p for evenings. Call is required and is a week at a time, Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday X3. Call is spread out, so about every 4th or 5th week will be call.POSITION SUMMARY:
Anesthesia technicians assist anesthesiologist and surgical teams in the Main Operating Room, NE surgery Center, the CVOR, and provide anesthesia procedure support in other areas such as Labor and Delivery, Cath Lab, Endo, and IR. Inspect, prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment and monitoring devices. Monitor inventory levels, check and restock anesthesia/emergency supply carts. Facilitate anesthesia workflow by preparing the operating room and/or procedural areas in collaboration with the perioperative team. Ensure patient safety and comfort by providing support and assisting with patient care under the direction of anesthesia professionals. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurse, holding a current license or temporary permit from the State of New York.
Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.
Clinical Practice:
Maintains anesthesia equipment within the service.
Maintains anesthesia stock and inventory.
Performs and documents preventive maintenance procedures.
Adheres to safety standards within the service.
Performs sterilization and disinfecting techniques according to policy and procedure.
Utilizes Materials Safety Data Sheets within service.
Maintains confidentiality as it relates to patients, staff, and visitors.
Adheres to hospital confidentiality statement.

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.

$20.80 - $31.20Major Responsibilities:- Sets up monitoring equipment in the operating room. This includes the operating table, autotransfusion system, electrocardiograph (ECG) and temperature cables, hyper/hypothermia blanket, medication and pressure manifolds, rapid infusion warmer, recorders, defibrillators, the patient monitoring system, and transesophageal echocardiography imaging unit (TEE) machines.
- During surgical procedures, assists in the insertion of arterial pressure lines, central venous and Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, draws arterial and/or venous blood samples for diagnostic testing, checks ventilators for proper operating efficiency, operates monitor and recording systems, and identifies the various types of intubation blades and fiberoptic bronchoscopes as well as any other special equipment or supplies required for difficult intubation.
- Calibrates all pressures and recording systems within the patient monitoring system to ensure and maintain precise readings.
- Assists in transfers of patients to and from the operating room, collects all data sheets and transports them with the patient, and establishes ECG and pressure monitoring at the destination.
- Cleans all non-disposable equipment after each procedure, performs daily maintenance checks and stocks equipment.
- Moves anesthesia equipment to proper surgical suite; checks equipment to verify proper connections, gases turned off, etc.
- Maintains adequate supply of proper equipment such as: needles, syringes, air-ways, endotracheal tube (ET) tubes, scopes and blade, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff and other necessary items in anesthesia carts.
- Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions or failures and takes all necessary steps to promptly return the equipment to a safe and reliable operating condition, using backup equipment when necessary.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.

- Serves as an assistive resource for the medical physics team in aspects of simulation, treatment planning, treatment delivery, routine quality assurance and patient-specific QA.

Education, Experience and Certifications

Preferred Qualifications
Desired, but not required experience supporting radiation oncology or medical physics services, and familiarity with radiation therapy equipment and QA procedures. Experience with healthcare information systems and the ability to work effectively in a clinical team environment would also be beneficial.

Job Description:
Provides nutrition services to patients utilizing standardized guidelines. This position interacts with clinical caregivers, patients, and patient’s family members to explain the meal process and modify meal selections according to provider orders.

Additional Details:This position is based in our call center environment and requires frequent interaction with patients to assist with menu selection and meal ordering. Responsibilities also include delivering meals to patient rooms and supporting food tray assembly and service line operations.
Qualifications
- Food Handler Permit or ServSafe Certification is required by first day of work (required ONLY in the states of Utah and Idaho). Remote and off-site caregivers are exempt.
