Position Purpose:
Provides assistance as necessary to surgeons and residents by selecting, organizing, anticipating and passing surgical instruments, medical supplies, equipment, and provides retraction under the direction of the surgeon.
What the Surgical Technologist Will Do:

Maintains highest standard of aseptic technique during all operative procedures, including surgical attire, surgical hand scrub, surgical gowning of self and team, surgical gloving of self and team, boundary between sterile and non-sterile areas, and traffic patterns.
Identifies breaches in aseptic techniques and implements interventions for resolution.
Performs all phases of reprocessing including decontamination, tray assembly, sterilization, documentation, and problem resolution for parameter failure.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program is required.
Completion of Certification Examination is required within one year of employment.
Must maintain certification throughout employment.
Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.
Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.

Location: St. Mary Medical Center – Langhorne, PA
Position Purpose
The Emergency Technician functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse to support the delivery of high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department. This role assists the healthcare team by providing direct and indirect patient care, maintaining equipment and supplies, and supporting clinical and clerical operations.
As an Emergency Technician, you will:
- Perform direct and indirect patient care activities in accordance with RN/LPN direction, physician orders, and established policies
- Assist with procedures including specimen collection, ostomy care, glucose monitoring, and application of orthopedic or protective devices
- Obtain and record vital signs, assist with patient hygiene, feeding, and mobility support
- Perform 12-lead EKGs and phlebotomy procedures accurately
- Communicate patient status and concerns to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner
- Assist with scheduling diagnostic procedures, tests, and consultations
- Participate in trauma calls and collaborate with interdisciplinary team members during emergencies
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- BLS Certification
- EMT certification or Medical Assistant certification OR is within the final year of a nursing school program
- Prior Emergency Technician experience preferred

About the Role
As a Medical Lab Scientist, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care by performing accurate and timely laboratory testing used in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Testing domains include waived, moderate, and high‑complexity procedures. Required: Experience with waived, moderate, and high‑complexity testing in a clinical laboratory setting—through education or hands‑on work experience.
What You’ll Do
Perform and document laboratory testing—including pre‑analytical steps—following standard operating procedures and accreditation standards to ensure high‑quality patient care.
Conduct and evaluate quality control procedures for tests, equipment, reagents, and media.
Identify, investigate, and resolve testing variances by implementing corrective actions to ensure accurate, reliable results.

Administers patient care as mandated by licensure, certification or registration. Monitoring patient to insure physiologic stability throughout the procedure. Utilizing advanced knowledge to properly administer prescribed medications and treatments under the direct supervision of the physician. Performing and assisting in procedures using skilled techniques. Evaluating patient prior to procedures, checking for appropriate consent and patient ID reporting any alarming patient conditions, explaining the procedure to patient, answering and/or researching patient questions. Positioning patient properly and/or comfortably, attaching protective, diagnostic and/or monitoring devices properly. Integrating Age-Specific Care knowledge in assessing patient needs and in planning, prioritizing, delivering and documenting patient care. Communicating information, education, and patient needs sensitive to age and development level of the individual patient/family. Maintaining competence related to age-specific patient care by regularly updating knowledge of growth and development, the aging process and strategies to meet related needs.

Essential Functions
• Completes skills check in a timely manner with accuracy.
• Maintains clean environment to include base and maintaining vehicles in a mission ready status. Accountable to check and verify established minimum transport vehicle supply levels, restock and clean at the beginning of the shift and as needed throughout the shift.
• Provides accurate and legible documentation of patient care with attention to detail that accurately reflects assessment and interventions. Ensures that chart is placed in patient’s medical record in a timely manner.
• Provides quality patient care and education in accordance with policies and state regulations as approved by Medical Director and professional standards of care.
• Follows guidelines and procedures independently when Medical Control is not available via radio or direct consultation.
• Assists with other activities which includes but not limited to public relations and marketing activities when needed.
• Follows safety guidelines and procedures; ensures seat belts are worn by crew and passengers.

Physical Requirements
F TE is hired for 40 hours per week – 4, 8, 10 or 12- hour clinical shifts. In addition, training, education and call may be required. Day, night and weekend work is required. Must be willing to cover open shifts on short notice. Duties require working, transporting and driving in all weather conditions to include exposure to extreme hot, cold and wet weather. Must not have any physical, emotional or mental impairment to prevent them from riding, driving or administering patient care in a transport vehicle. This work area may have cramped space and be poorly lit. Noise levels are moderate as associated with working in and around emergency vehicles. Hearing protection is available and required for use around “hot” aircraft. Requires
handling of patients that may have infectious diseases, possible exposure to unpleasant conditions and/or handling of contaminated materials and/or patients. Requires ability to function in high stress situations. Must have critical thinking skills that enable the employee to make rapid, appropriate decisions that ensure the safety of both the crew and patients. Must have ability to concentrate. Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling. Heavy lifting required, with the assistance of a partner to load/unload patients and carry equipment. Good physical stamina and endurance necessary to perform duties. Education, Experience and Certifications
High school graduate or GED required. Current NC EMT certification required. SC EMT-B and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician certifications preferred at time of hire; SC EMT-B and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician required within 90 days of hire and required to be maintained throughout employment. BCLS required. Approved trauma certification required within 6 months of employment and required to be maintained throughout employment. Current driver’s license (prefer NC/SC) with no more than 6 points on license required. Must have had driver's license for a minimum of 2 years Atrium Health approved driving course to be completed within the first week of hire and maintained throughout employment required. One-year active field pre-hospital experience preferred. Annual completion of safety briefings and annual survival training required. Plans and implements treatment programs based upon patient evaluation. Modifies exercise prescription based on cardiac symptomatology, signs and symptoms of exercise intolerance, or musculoskeletal, orthopedic, and/or accessory medical problems.
- Works with physicians to determine program eligibility, progress, and timing of progression to unmonitored home program or Phase III participation.
- Establishes and presents a coordinated health education program for patients on exercise and risk factor reduction. Participates in family and patient conferences as necessary and works closely with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, physician assistants, and medical staff regarding patient physical status and rehabilitation program.
- Promotes referral to rehabilitation program by developing a sound working relationship with referral sources - physicians and nurses.
- Places electrodes on patient for various cardiac monitors and tests.
- Counsels patient in home activity and exercise programs and purchase of exercise equipment.
- Assists in the resolution of cardiac emergencies or symptoms of exercise intolerance. Assists the in-program planning and implementation.
- May serve as a mentor for staff working for certification by American College of Sports Medicine in Exercise Technologist or Specialist category. Serves as a hospital consultant in area of exercise physiology. Participates in appropriate professional organizations for personal development.
- Assists in monitoring outpatient cardiac rehabilitation exercise groups.
- Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

4. Analyze, interpret, and measure ECG strip waveform displays and document each patient’s rhythm every four hours, via Wave Strip Export, along with any changes and report these changes according to established guidelines and protocols.
5. Monitor centralized pulse oximetry for general pediatric population and adult Orthopedic patients when indicated.
6. Maintain accurate patient information within the Telemetry Surveillance Unit (TSC).
7. Support indirect patient care by assembling telemetry packs – including batteries and electrodes – for nursing staff, ensuring proper installation and battery charge, while also managing inventory, maintaining equipment cleanliness and coordinating patient equipment assignments within TSC.
8. Assure patient safety is first and foremost by identifying and prioritizing tasks by importance.
9. Demonstrate professional telephone etiquette by courteously answering calls, clearly identifying self and department and promptly relaying accurate, well documented messages to the appropriate recipient.

- Reviews and correlates results of laboratory tests to each other and with the patient's condition, recognizing abnormal results and critical/alert values. Verifies accuracy of results and initiates corrective action when indicated.
- The employee may be required to float to other locations throughout the organization.
- Performs product preparations in compliance with FDA, cGMP, AABB standards and blood bank department procedures, if applicable.

- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP) , AMT or equivalent or eligible (must be completed within 6 months of hire) within 180 Days
Knowledge Requirements
- Meets the CLIA requirements for high complexity testing.

Education
Required - Bachelor’s degree
Work Experience
Required - 4 years experience (one year of which is in the appropriate clinical lab section) in appropriate clinical lab under a qualified Director. In the case of a technologist that rotates in general lab, the one year of experience in the appropriate section should be documented. In cases where there is no documentation of the section rotation, a signed letter from the laboratory medical director must be placed in the technologist’s file stating that the technologist has been deemed competent in that section.
Preferred - Experience including advanced analytical skills necessary in order to analyze complex data and trouble shoot equipment
Certifications
Required - Current license or temporary license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist in the state of practice, Meets CLIA and CAP requirements for testing personnel relative to scope of duties, Meets the CLIA standards as a general laboratory supervisor; i.e. at a minimum a bachelor’s degree, and one year lab training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing, ASCP certification as a Medical Technologist. Any incumbent certified by ASCP on or after January 1, 2004 must successfully complete the requirements of the ASCP’s Certification Maintenance Program
Preferred - Current license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Specialist in the state of practice
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to and experience working in controlled environment, following safety measures to minimize exposure to chemicals, body fluids, blood borne pathogens, etc.
- Advanced analytical skills to collect data, perform calculations, maintains system logs and operates laboratory computer equipment.
- Judgmental skills in order to identify and solve problems as well as handle difficult situations.
- Skills to manage stress in order to maintain a professional atmosphere and provide quality service.
- Skills to work independently.
Job Duties
- Coordinates clinical competency in section.
- Performs routine and special lab procedures.
- Maintains regulatory compliance and performance improvement.
- Assists and consults with the laboratory supervisor/director.
- Maintains competency, meets goals and objectives.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
- Other related duties as required.
