Third (Nights)Overview:
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, support independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any change to the nurse or medical staff.
Department Overview: This 24-bed specialty unit provides high acuity cardiac care to patients with severe heart failure, pre/post heart transplant, the Total Artificial Heart, and pulmonary hypertension. The Advanced Heart Failure is an ACCN Gold Beacon Award Unit that is recognized for excellence in providing high-quality patient care, and a work environment that fosters teamwork, collaboration, and positivity.
Anticipated Hours: 36 hours/week, 7PM-7AM with rotating weekends
Requirements:
Education
HS Diploma or Equivalent (Required) and one of the following required:
Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, or
Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or
National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), or
Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, or
Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or
Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT, or
Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

TheExercisePhysiologistII will educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care, empowering them to make informed decisions about their health. The EP II will monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in patient conditions, and respond promptly with appropriate interventions. Utilizing sound clinical judgment, the EP II will manage complex health situations, consult with medical team members as needed, and document all care in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. The EP II willassistthe department leader in completing requirements for AACVPR program certifications.(American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Professional Certification Commission).
The EP II is expected to uphold the highest standards of patient safety, adhere to evidence-based protocols, and contribute to a supportive and empathetic environment. As a patient advocate, theEPII will work to ensure each patient’s comfort, dignity, and well-being while fostering trust and a sense of security. This role demands a commitment to continuous learning, adaptability to evolving healthcare practices, and dedication to promoting the mission and values of the healthcare organization.
The EP II has advanced specialized training, clinical experience, andpossessesa principal level of functionality in the Cardiopulmonary Rehab department. The EP IImakesindependent clinical decisions within their scope of practice and without the need for direct oversight or supervisory approval from registered nurses or leadership. The EP II independently conducts patient evaluations, develops and implements treatment plans, manages exercise prescriptions, and creates educational curricula without direct daily oversight. The EP II is fully qualified to provide comprehensive cardiopulmonary rehabilitation care and often serves as a preceptor for onboarding RNs and other department clinicians.

Overview
This support is met through the transportation of patients from inpatient/emergency room/ICU departments to the pre-op holding area. In addition to the transportation of patients, the OR attendant is responsible for the cleaning of the operating room suites between surgical procedures.
OR Attendants will support anesthesia staff both in the operating room setting as well as ancillary departments by ensuring adequate stocking of anesthesia supplies in medication carts, the cleaning of anesthesia machines, and the transportation of anesthesia machines and carts. OR attendants will be asked to transport specimens and blood products to and from the lab as well as ensure proper stocking of various formalin containers used for specimen handling and transport.
The OR attendant will assist in the positioning of surgical patients with the guidance of professional OR staff. The OR attendant will help prepare the operating room suite by the opening of sterile supplies onto the sterile field and ensuring the proper equipment is available in the room for the surgical procedure.

Job Description:
The Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors on multiple floors and settings. Provides registered nurses and clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. The Monitoring technician completes the admission set-up of telemetry monitors for the clinical units and performs monitor discharge and maintenance. The Monitoring Technician has completed a Cardiac Dysrhythmia Course and successfully passed a rhythm analysis examination.
- Maintains ongoing, high-level surveillance of patients’ cardiac rhythms and notifies nursing and clinicians of any rate and rhythm changes.
- Measures and interprets patients’ heart rhythm and documents on patient rhythm strip every four hours.
- Initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge.
- Performs configuration as necessary.
- Performs clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information from Central Cardiac Monitoring Room.
- Communicates clearly when receiving information from units or providers.
- Uses clear and complete communication with unit personnel when delivering information about changes in patient rhythm.
- Orients and mentors new staff members.
- Serves as a resource for training and troubleshooting to both the Central Cardiac Monitoring Room and clinical areas.
- Troubleshoots monitors with nursing staff and contacts Clinical Engineering as appropriate.
- Gives report to oncoming shift.
- Prioritizes and organizes work assignment and adjusts priorities based on changing situations.
- Maintains and stocks all designated equipment, including telemetry and monitoring cables.
- Replaces defective equipment and reports failures to Clinical Engineering.
- Adheres to confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors.
- Develops a rapport and cooperative relationship with nursing and clinical staff and responds to questions and requests from healthcare providers.
