SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs anesthesia support activities in all monitoring and anesthesia locations including but not limited to operating rooms, catheterization laboratories, intensive care units, and other patient care areas where anesthesia is performed.
- Performs complete operating/procedure room patient monitoring and anesthesia equipment set up.
- Sets up, calibrates as necessary, and checks the performance of all monitoring and anesthesia equipment before connecting to the patient.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Cleans and disinfects equipment and work areas between patients, following infection control standards and department procedures.
- Organizes the work flow, problem-solves and manages ongoing priorities, with minimal supervision, seeking guidance when needed.
- Reports “near misses” and inputs error promptly into TAPS to improve processes and identify trends. Contributes to identification of corrective actions and improvement activities.
- Contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures that anesthetizing areas and anesthesia services work stations are put back together, organized properly, and ready for use as soon as possible after each case, including but not limited to, keeping monitor cables stored neatly, ensuring that anesthesia gases are turned off, unused supplies are restocked properly, and equipment are put back in designated places.
- Utilizes resources with cost effectiveness and value creation in mind. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively, minimizing incidental overtime, and prioritize daily tasks, assisting coworkers as needed.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Participates in committees and task forces as assigned and action items are appropriately performed. Follows up on action items as necessary to ensure completion of assignments.

Position is responsible for providing expert perioperative patient care through the use of equipment and instrumentation. Verifies functioning and adequate availability of supplies/instruments/equipment prior to the surgical procedure as indicated by the surgeon’s preference card and other available resources; demonstrates the application of the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner that provides for optimal patient care in the OR.
Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards of care, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, and accuracy of practice.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff; provides orientation and in-service training to department personnel.

Principal Accountabilities
Performs and documents test results, quality control, maintenance procedures and associated corrective actions according to policy/procedure.
Manages/performs other aspects of daily lab operations including collections, sample processing, results reporting/ distribution, personnel direction (as appropriate), and clerical duties as required to maintain efficient work flow, at a competent level and according to the age/needs of the patient/populations served, communicated special circumstances to appropriate personnel.
Interacts with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians and patients as to specimens and orders coming into the Laboratory and/or reporting results out according to the policies and procedures of the Laboratory Services and with sensitivity to customer needs.
Complies with policies, procedures, and initiatives of laboratory services, the hospital and the system; understands, communicate and complies with standards and conditions set forth by various governmental and accrediting agencies including TJC, FDA, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA and CLIA.
Performs duties in a manner to promote quality patient care and customer service/ satisfaction, while promoting safety, cost efficiency, and a commitment to the PI process.

Admits, transfers, and discharges patient and enters all required information in telemetry monitoring system.

- Performs sorting, inspection, and decontamination/sterilization of personal protective equipment (PPE), medications, medical and pharmaceutical equipment, and other physical spaces by safely following prescribed manufacturer instructions and institutional policies and procedures.
- Provides timely turn around for equipment requiring decontamination/sterilization, including rounding on units to collect and return equipment needing decontamination/sterilization.
- Handles sterilants and other cleaning supplies in accordance with prescribed manufacturer instructions and institutional policies and procedures.
- Organizes workload utilizing available work time by assisting others and performing additional task as needed. Delivers consistent and reliable productivity between the assigned work space and the units we service.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Utilizes appropriate personal protective equipment required to disinfect/sterilize potentially infectious medical equipment for reuse in accordance with manufacturer instructions and institutional policies and procedures.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Minimum of one (1) year experience in Sterile Processing or a related allied/clinical healthcare profession role (e.g. Medical Assistant, Scrub Tech, etc)
Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English language
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
Ability to lift and/or maneuver supplies and equipment in conjunction with others in order to perform job functions
