Intermountain is looking for experienced RNs—especially those with PICU and/or Pediatric ED backgrounds—to join our elite medical transport team. This is more than a job; it’s a mission to deliver life-saving care in the most challenging environments.
---
What You’ll Do
As a flight nurse, you’ll provide expert-level care to neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients in dynamic, high-stakes environments—whether in the air or on the ground. You’ll work autonomously and collaboratively to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care during interfacility transports and emergency responses.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assessment: Perform comprehensive physical, psychological, and developmental evaluations.
Planning: Develop individualized care plans using critical thinking and input from patients, families, and the care team.
Implementation: Deliver and coordinate care, administer medications, and manage resources in fast-paced, mobile settings.
Evaluation: Monitor patient outcomes and adjust care plans as needed.
Professionalism: Uphold the highest standards of nursing practice, safety, and ethics in accordance with CAMTS, CLIA, and Life Flight protocols.
---
Work Environment
This role requires adaptability and resilience. You’ll operate in:
· Helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft (including unpressurized flights up to 10,000 feet)
· Ground ambulances and outdoor environments (including extreme weather and rugged terrain)
· Enclosed spaces with potential exposure to infectious diseases, noise, vibration, and dehydration risks
---
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- State-certified Nurse with no restrictions, valid in area of operation.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and trauma care.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 120 days of hire.

- Expertise in patient care delivery, safety practices, and compassionate handling of critically ill patients.
- Effective communication and teamwork with diverse healthcare professionals and patient families.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (degree will be verified). Registered Nurses (RNs) hired or promoted into this role must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four years of their hire or promotion date. If there is an existing education agreement, that agreement will take precedence.
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description's last update July 2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.

- Compact nursing license.
- Advanced certification in trauma care (e.g., TNATC, ATLS, PHTLS, TNCC).
- Experience in mentoring or training healthcare team members.
- Familiarity with advanced medical technologies and ICU-level care during transport.
Physical Requirements
