Position Summary

The Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) evaluates, plans, and provides occupational therapy services to residents in accordance with physician orders, federal and state regulations, and facility policies. The OTR works to improve residents' ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), maximize independence, promote safety, and enhance quality of life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Evaluate residents to determine functional limitations, strengths, and rehabilitation potential.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on physician orders and resident goals.
* Provide skilled occupational therapy services to improve mobility, self-care, upper extremity function, cognition, and daily living skills.
* Assess and recommend adaptive equipment, splints, positioning devices, and environmental modifications.
* Educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment plans, safety techniques, and home exercise programs.
* Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, social workers, and other interdisciplinary team members.
* Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, recertifications, and discharge summaries accurately and within required timeframes.
* Monitor resident progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
* Participate in care plan meetings and interdisciplinary team conferences.
* Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, state practice acts, and facility policies.
* Maintain equipment and therapy areas in a safe and clean condition.
* Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in accordance with state regulations and professional standards.
* Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
* Current Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR) license in the applicable state.
* Current CPR certification preferred.
* Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility, rehabilitation center, or long-term care setting preferred.
* Knowledge of Medicare Part A, Part B, managed care, and rehabilitation documentation requirements preferred.

Physical Requirements

* Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
* Ability to transfer, lift, reposition, and assist residents in accordance with safe patient handling guidelines.
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
* Manual dexterity sufficient to perform therapeutic interventions and documentation.

Working Conditions

* Skilled nursing facility/long-term care environment.
* Exposure to infectious diseases and bodily fluids; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required.
* Frequent interaction with residents, families, visitors, and healthcare professionals.

Pay: From $50.00 per hour
